These binoculars are great! Been using them with my kids for a long time now, and might buy a second pair, since the price is so great, so they stop fighting over who gets to use them next. We use them for night sky watching, but also for birds in the back yard, as well as airplanes flying overhead. I would buy these again, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good set of binoculars for a a new hobby.

Great binoculars for the backyard astronomer.
I recently became interested in astronomy and purchased this set of binoculars, based on the recommendation of several amateur astronomy websites and books. They have been a great aid to learning the night sky and viewing objects or clusters that are not visible to the naked eye in my moderately night-polluted sky. The initial set-up was very easy: Put a lens cap over the right lens and focus; switch the lens cap to the left eye and adjust the eyepiece ring until the image is tack-sharp; finally, remove the cap, and you're in business. This can be done in less than 20 seconds. At first, I was holding these by hand - they are light enough to be able to do this. However, I found myself lying on my back and resting them on my eyes to steady the picture when I wanted to stare at a portion of the sky. Eventually, I purchased an adapter to mount them on my tripod, which vastly improved the viewing experience. So far I have enjoyed great views of the Andromeda Galaxy, Comet Lovejoy, Jupiter and four of its moons, Plaiedes, the Double Cluster, M44, and the moon in all its phases. Binoculars really are a great way to learn the sky for the first time, and this particular pair have been exceptional.

Awesome price and equal quality
K got these for my dad for Christmas and he is extremely happy. He had a very old pair of Bushnell (like 40 years old) that he would use on occasion to look at deer or an eagle since we live in the country. His Bushnell still worked but he wanted a pair to keep out in his shop, well these now stay beside his recliner in the living room :) I seen these and figured they would be just ok for what he wanted and the price was great since I couldn't afford a new pair of bushnells. I thought they would be of cheaper quality, but i hoped was wrong and I was. These are much sturdier and sound then I expected, they feel very solid. They are lighter in weight so your arms don't tire, which is nice. Things are crisp and clear when viewing them even at a distance (about 3 or 4 telephone polls, here in the country thats about 600 to 1000 feet) Very easy to focus also. Another awesome thing is the clarity in lower light. Deer like to come out at dusk and we can see them pretty good (I don't mean these work in the dark, but when the sun has about set and the worlds light is a yellowish gray, these work well). We just had a super moon and seeing it through these binoculars was absolutely breathtaking. I could really make out the markings on the moon. My dad was even wowed! I plan on grabbing another pair of these since he has forgotten his old pair and only uses these. I really do recommend these to anyone who wants a nice binocular. These are NOT cheaply made and I have no doubt you will be happy with this purchase. I gave it 5 stars because my dad and I are really truly impressed with Celestrons. I don't have anything negative to say! For once I got much much more then what I paid for, in a very good way! Thank you so much!

A stellar choice!
I think these binoculars are the best $35 I ever spent! Really light to hold and easy to focus. I can't believe the stars I'm able to see. I live in NYC where of course there is horrible light pollution. With these, I can see at least 10 stars for every one I can see unaided. They also work just fine in the daytime. I am going to buy some for gifts - they are great.

great buy
Great binoculars. Work at night and day time. I haven't been able to do any serious stargazing but from brief observations I could see some good views of distant stars and great views of the moon. People always complain about binoculars being un-calibrated or misfocused, but I think they do not know how to use them. These worked out of the box, but at other times I did calibrate the right eye piece to the left for much crisper images when looking with both eyes. Come with a neck strap, 4 covers, a bag, and cleaning cloth (though in my opinion the cloth leaves more residue than cleans off...). My one small complaint is that the eye pieces are not really supported very strongly and bend down when you even stick the caps on them. In my opinion you shouldn't have any unnecessary movement as this may mess up any adjustments you may have done to the right eye piece. Otherwise though, I do not regret spending ~37$ for a great pair of binoculars that work great.

Not a toy! Real binoculars! Good optics. Great for backyard astronomy. Great for people with eyeglasses.
These are not a toy. These are real binoculars. These are GOOD binoculars. The optics are good. The view is clear and sharp. The pair I got was perfectly aligned. Above all, they are 7x50 "night glasses" that are just right for looking at dim objects in the night sky, like the Milky Way, the Pleiades, the Andromeda Nebula, the Great Nebula in Orion, and so forth. They are far better on these objects than my old 9x36 Bushnells. At 7X power they are also, of course, good for "binocular astronomy" in general. There haven't been any bright comets since I bought these, but they should be good for comets as their name suggests. The world of binoculars has been overtaken by compact binoculars which are great for birdwatching but don't have the light-gathering ability for backyard astronomy. 7x50's do. I would strongly recommend these for older children who are ready for backyard astronomy, either instead of or in addition to a full-sized telescope. An unexpected benefit for me is that these have huge eye relief, and are the first binoculars I've had that I can use with my eyeglasses on. What are the downsides? Two: they're big and heavy. And I think the field of view is narrower than on more expensive binoculars.

Great general-purpose binoculars for little $$$.
These binoculars are a great deal. I have a telescope as well as giant binoculars for astronomical viewing, but I wanted some binos that I could hold in my hands (the others are too heavy) for general and astronomical use. I read the chapter on binoculars in "The Backyard Astronomer's Guide" (the 'bible' for such things), and they said that 7X50 (7X magnification, 50mm light-gathering lenses) are ideal for general use and perfectly adequate for casual astronomical viewing. I like Celestron products and so I bought these. They are designed for astronomical viewing, but are just as suitable for land-based viewing. The collimation (alignment) of the two barrels is perfect, and the view is crisp and detailed. The lenses are multi-coated (a good thing), and they are solidly built. At around $35, you can't go wrong. Highly recommended. PS: For those who have never used binoculars before, there is a certain amount that you need to know to get them set up properly for your own eyes. The included instructions describe how to do it, and you can find more info online if you need it.

Easy to use binoculars
Easy to use binoculars that come with a guide on how to adjust the focus just right. Great for viewing the Moon. I added solar filters, and had great views of the sun during the eclipse too! I would mount it on a tripod if you want to view planets since it's a little hard to hold smaller objects steadily in view.

Great binoculars!!
These are a great pair of binoculars. Grip is comfortable. Field of vision is great. I use these binoculars for celestial viewing as well as bird watching and the binoculars serve well for both. The views of the moon have been stellar and I have been able to get very good views of the Orion Nebula. These are a fantastic pair of binoculars for any beginner or novice star gazer or astronomer and the price simply can't be beat. A highly recommended purchase.

My Favorite Binoculars
A fantastic pair of astronomy binoculars. Light enough that they don't need a tripod, good solid construction, extremely convenient and portable. I use them all the time, and I'm rarely disappointed. Good enough to glimpse Andromeda from my light-polluted front yard, and they treat you to lovely views of the Orion Nebula, Pleiades, Hyades, and plenty of other Clusters. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a nice pair of astronomy binoculars that you'll use regularly, and you can't beat this price anywhere. I also own the Celestron 15X70 pair, and while those are even more stunning, they're just not convenient because they're bulky, and too heavy to hold without a tripod. I find myself using these far more often. If I could give this pair 6 stars, I would.
