This unit is great for connecting multiple devices - tested using a Win10 Laptop, 2 iPads and a Droid phone. Performed fine. Run test for 2.5 hours and battery dropped to 68%. If you need to get GPS data to mobile devices as either primary or backup navigation, this is a good choice. Changing with a microUSB from a small solar panel could keep it going for a long time.

Excellent GPS receiver for really accurate positioning. We use our for Autocross apps like Harry's and Track Addict.

I've got nothing but great things to say about the SkyPro XPS160. I first tried the Garmin GLO Portable GPS and GLONASS because I'd gotten frustrated with the poor reception on my phone GPS, and Iwanted to augment it with a dedicated receiver while driving. Missing turns due to lagging GPS position got old quickly. For whatever reason, I found that the Garmin provided generally worse updates to my phone, lagged, and stuttered significantly, so I returned it. In contrast, the SkyPro has been nothing short of fantastic. It starts quickly, rapidly acquires a location even from a cold start, and provides rapid and smooth location updates to my phone. While I see the best GPS/GLONASS signal strength with the receiver attached to the top of my windshield with the included rubber mat, this receiver is so good it gets only marginally worse signal strength inside my center console. Another advantage over the Garmin is the SkyPro can be used while plugged in to a power source, while the Garmin can't. Something that I couldn't find anywhere but had to test is that the SkyPro turns itself off after 10 minutes of having no Bluetooth connection. This is handy if you want to mount it somewhere out of the way in your car and attach it to a power source that comes on with your ignition. The SkyPro will start up when it receives power, and turn itself off ten minutes after you the Bluetooth disconnects. In summary, I couldn't be happier with this GPS receiver.

Use this in the marine industry with some navigation apps and it connects easily, works well. Great battery life. The log function is a good upgrade which allows you to track your movements without beinng connected to a device. Highly recommend.

i just received the unit a few hours ago. I'm an Airline Captain, so final judgment will have to be reserved until I see how it performs in flight, but so far I like what I'm seeing. Everything is working as it should so far. I have synced it with both my iPad and iPhone, at once, and that's working fine, and I'm very impressed with the speed at which it acquired both the GPS and GLONASS satellites. I'm indoors, in an interior room, yet it's picking up 8 GPS and 7 GLONASS satellites with excellent horizontal and vertical position confidence. 3D confidence is showing good. That's quite impressive. I did not think or expect to see that being indoors. If this is an indication of it's perform in flight I'll be very pleased indeed. UPDATE: it's performance in flight is as impressive as it was at home. Very fast satellite acquisition, and synced up with both my iPad, my iPhone and my FO's iPad with no problems. No reception problems with it stuck to the heated windows of the 737 900. Battery life is very good with 15% power left after a long three leg day.

The XGPS160 is exactly what I wanted and is perfect, it does have weather or ADS-B ability but still works great for a pilot that doesn't want to spend $800-$1,000 for a stratus. I have had this now for a couple months and have used it quite a bit and haven't had any trouble at all with it. The nonslip cover/mount that comes with it works really well and won't slip off of the glare shield or wind screen, even in a helicopter (I have stuck this to the windscreen and side windows and it never moves as long as it's clean and free of lint and dust) I would definitely recommend this to any pilot that doesn't require ADS-B on foreflight. If anything ever happens to this one, I will definitely buy another one.

Pro's: HIgh data update rate. GLONAS as well as GPS satellites (i.e. more satellites seen, 16+ compared to 8 or 9). . Leading to relatively high altitude precision compared to other external GPS devices (Emprum, VBOX Sport) I've used. Con's: Bluetooth, though this is more an iOS problem than a device problem. iOS 6.1.3 Bluetooth is buggy for GPS receivers. Data logging app not available yet (last I checked). Mounting system could be sturdier. As far as I can tell, the negative reviews are related to Bluetooth connection problems, not the device itself. I use this with Harry's Laptimer so I don't need the internal data logging capability. It hasn't fallen off the dashboard at the autocrosses I've used it at, but a solid mount would be required for higher performance events or on a motorcycle. Edit: My experience with Dual customer service has been good. The battery in my original XGPS160 would not hold a charge. I emailed customer service and received instructions and paperwork to exchange the device. I receive a replacement with a good battery in about ten days after I shipped it back.

As good a price as anywhere with PRIME. Excellent unit for many (5) to connect to for GPS mapping. This has been very reliable and easy to use with Co-Pilot GPS. Use the available IOS app to allow the iPad to connect with it before opening Co-Pilot.

I use this to log my flights as a student pilot. Just set it up to log on start up and leave it on the cockpit dash. It does not move thanks to the silicone holder. The charge lasts a long time. easily 6 hrs or more. I use this with CloudAhoy to debrief my flights (also use my Garmin VIRB) If you use a rented or shared plane you should Label your GPS with your name and phone # and since a label won't stick to the holder. I use a luggage tag on it also!, At the end of your check lists add "Take GPS off dash" Overall... I like and recommend it. tested with iPad 3 and iPhone 5 and 6.

I have a samsung tablet I use in my commercial truck. it's mounted close to the dash and has trouble keeping a gps lock... got the XGPS160 and tested it in different locations to see how sensitive it is and how well it can hold a gps lock. THIS THING IS AMAZING, FIRST OFF I COULDN'T FIND A PLACE WHERE IT DIDN'T WORK...... for the acid test I placed it in the pocket directly below the radio (which is in a metal case). the only difference was the strength of the satellite signals from the app were 10-15% weaker but it worked perfect and never lost gps lock (for 11 hours).... I bought the 160 instead of the 150 ($45 more) just in case I needed to attach more then 1 device. GREAT PRODUCT, thank you Dual Electronics....................
