Worth the money
I recently had purchased a Motorola monitor costing $150, it stopped working within 8 months. I was extremely unsatisfied in that product and began to do research for the top rated monitors. The Infant Optics had come highly recommended however the higher price point made me nervous.. the moment I set up the monitor I immediately loved it! The picture quality is great, I love being able to move the camera around without having to go into my little ones room and risk waking him up, the camera set up was very easy and the sound for the two way talk is crystal clear. So far, this product is WAY more superior to the previous brand I had and I am fully satisfied.

Great picture and sound! Amazing customer service!
I absolutely love this monitor! Going on over two years, by far the best baby purchase! I had a previous monitor, different company, more expensive and so much less in comparison! I have recommended this monitor to siblings and friends who have all sinced purchased! We bought the add on camera as well. Easy to pair and use! The best part is the customer service team who is always there to assist if ever there are any issues! Hands down worth the money! Great sound and picture quality! I’m lost with out my monitor. Peace of mind at it’s finest!

This camera and monitor are great and the costumer service is even better.
We have been using the Infant Optics DXR-8 video monitor for 1 year now and felt we could now give an accurate review. If you're in a hurry, the summary of this review is that this camera and monitor are great and the customer service provided by the company is outstanding (see below). So stop hunting and trying to weigh all the baby camera/monitor reviews and get this camera and monitor if it provides you with all the features you want. You really aren't going to find anything better. We initially purchased this camera and monitor after spending way too much time pouring over all the options available to us, trying to find the BEST camera and monitor for our new baby. Our main concerns were getting a good camera with quality night imaging, good sound and an easily viewable monitor. We also felt we didn't want a system that sent our image feed off to some remote server where it would be stored for some period of time for whatever analytics that the company performed. The Infant Optics DXR-8 fulfilled all our wishes. Set-up: Setting up the monitor and camera was easy. We followed the directions and had no issues at all pairing the camera and monitor. The camera was actually very light and we hung it up on the wall so it could capture the entire inside of the crib. Again, it was very easy. USE: The monitor had a clear picture in day light and more importantly, at night. The monitors range was sufficient for us and we had no problems even after we moved baby out of our room and into her own as our rooms were on different floors. The monitor always worked great and we could always see the baby when we wanted. The controls on the monitor were easy to use and the buttons were large enough to use in the middle of the night with no light or light from monitor alone. We appreciated the simplicity, particularly when sleep deprived. In terms of battery life for the monitor, we had no issues once we figured out our schedule. We used it pretty much throughout the day unplugged and kept it plugged in overnight night by our bed, pretty much like our phones. Occasionally we ran out of battery but not frequently enough where we thought there was something wrong. It was all we could ask for. Customer Service: Now for the best part. Coming up on a year of use, the power button on the monitor began to stick. We started having issues turning the monitor on and off and putting it to sleep. It got to the point where the monitor turned on and off by itself sporadically which was problematic at night. We wrote an email to Infant Optics explaining the situation and hoping for a repair or replacement. We received a response on the very same day we wrote (Sunday!) explaining that a replacement monitor would be easiest. So we sent the monitor back through the mail and sent them a picture of the package and the receipt. Given this proof, they were able to send out our replacement before they received our broken monitor and we received the new monitor in the mail in 2 days! But that’s not all. We accidentally sent back the battery for the monitor which we were instructed not to do (The monitor still works without a battery if plugged in). So we wrote again explaining our mistake. Infant Optics immediately got back to us again and sent out another battery for the monitor. 2 days later we had a new battery for our new monitor. Conclusion: Honestly, we could not ask for better treatment. This is the type of costumer service that actually makes you happy and reaffirms that the Infant Optics camera and monitor was the right choice for our family. You can’t go wrong with this camera and monitor. It works great and it is backed up by outstanding customer service that provides peace of mind all new parents should be afforded.

Well priced full featured baby monitor
We bought the DXR-8 for our upcoming first child and so far couldn't be happier with our purchase. The Good: The picture and audio quality is exceptional and we have no problems viewing the camera from anywhere in the house. The pan and tilt works very well and the camera is very responsive to the remote display input which is nice. It does come with a digital zoom feature which works well if you don't want/need to use the dedicated zoom lens that comes with. The menu on the display is very simple and easy to use with a couple nice features like the alarm mode and brightness control. One of the features that we like is the fact that it doesn't use wifi and so it is much more difficult to snoop in on the monitor as well as not affecting bandwidth for our other mobile devices. What it comes with: 1 Camera 1 Display unit 1 Rechargeable Li-Ion battery for the display 1 DC wall charger for the camera 1 USB style wall charger for the display with two different length cords so you are less likely to have issues finding a place to set the display when you need to charge the battery 1 Zoom lens Setup: There is none! This thing comes out of the box paired with the display already so you don't have to do anything but turn it on to start using it. I feel like this is a nice touch to help out busy parents who may not want to spend a bunch of time reading manuals just to watch their baby from the other room. If you want to add another camera the procedure is still very simple and laid out in the easy to understand manual. The Bad: Nothing yet! If I had to pick something I would say that I wish it just came with all three lenses but that's pretty nitpicky as I don't really have a use for the wide angle at the moment.

Video monitor well deserving of its praise
I bought this monitor off of reviews from pretty much every baby resource - Baby bargains, Amazon reviews, and various other baby blogs I follow. Especially considering so many of the big brands have awful reviews, I was at times skeptical of the praise This monitor system received. In fact, I thought it was a little pricy and maybe not worth it at first. First I bought just an audio monitor but realized as my baby got more mobile that I wanted peace of mind. I then bought a cheaper brand video monitor but realized quickly you get what you pay for. The picture was grainy and it was quite limited in what it could “tell me.” After an opportunity to get the dx-8 arose, I figured it was time to bite the bullet and buy it (I’m well aware I spent way too much money when I could’ve purchased this from the beginning.” In a nutshell the high rating is well deserved... Pros: -I love the temperature feature. We have bad insulation in our house and I constantly rely on the temperature reading to adjust the hvac in my baby’s room. -The picture is quite clear. Be conscious of where you place the monitor because the one issue I have is that I can’t get it out of night mode (black and white) but that’s my placement and not the monitor’s fault. The color imaging when available is high quality. -the stand that comes on the back of the monitor is great for display - the instructions are easy to understand and monitor is easy to use. Setup takes seconds. - their customer service is great. They helped me quickly when I had an issue with the usb cable not charging my monitor. I appreciate when a company stands behind its products. Cons: - only one I can really find is agreement with other reviews that the sound for the low battery and the out of range alerts is offensively loud. I believe this is now adjustable in newer models though which demonstrates that the company listens and implements feedback! All in all I love this monitor so much I just shelled out another $100 for an add-on for our newest addition arriving in a month. I only trust infant optics monitors to provide me the peace of mind I need.

So happy with the monitor!
This is my first baby and I was looking for a monitor that wasn’t extra pricy. The safety of my child has no price but I wanted something worth it’s price. My precious doll is a 3 month old who kicks and squirms a lot in her sleeping and I wanted something that suits my life style and her way of being . First of all I am NOT tech savy, I didn’t want to mount anything on the wall as my baby won’t sleep in my room forever, and I wanted something portable since I have multiple bassinets in my spacious apartment. the fact that it comes with multiple lens that do not comprise the picture quality is amazing. Plus you had add up to 4 cameras to one monitor!!!Lastly was sold me was the review below stating how far the signal reached and oh boy let me tell you. I live in the third floor and I still have service in the 1st so I feel comfortable receiving packaged form the mail men etc. Truly this has given me peace of mind and freedom without abondoning my child.

Love this monitor!
This is our 2nd Infant Optics DXR-8 baby monitor. Our toddler dropped the monitor one too many times and finally damaged the screen...oops! After this happened I shopped around a bit to see what other options are out there, but I couldn’t find one that had all of the features I’ve grown to love about the Infant Optics one. We use the wide angle lens on our camera and it gives a great view of our son’s crib area. The zoom and camera angle can be controlled remotely via the monitor, which has been key for us. Some monitors can only control zoom remotely. The image is super clear and the color is very vibrant. Even the nighttime image in the dark is fantastic. The microphone in the camera is very sensitive and picks up everything happening in the room. I also like that the monitor lights up on the side to indicate the noise level in the room. The temperature reading hasn’t been very helpful for us because our camera is near the air vent, so it always thinks it’s very hot or cold in the room. I’m sure this would work better in a different location. I love that you can add more cameras! We’re going to add one for our next baby and also one at our front door. And this time we will be better about putting the monitor out of arms reach of our toddler! It really is durable...the first screen breaking is our fault.

The internet didn’t lie, this is a great monitor combo
This monitor is awesome. The refresh rate is just shy of real time and the picture is very good. The camera automatically switches from day light mode to infrared, depending on the available light. It may still change modes when playing with the camera as it notices a change in lighting. The two way communication is fun to prank my wife also. The speaker quality is pretty dang good coming out of the camera and also playing back through our monitor. So far we are happy and hopeful that this product doesn’t glitch or fail like other customers.

Impressive!
Our first baby is due on November 9th and I've been researching monitors here and there for the last couple of months. I've read really good things about this monitor on Amazon and other places. I finally ordered and received the monitor. Tested the monitor out and I am impressed with the picture clarity, sound quality and minimal delay. I've been paying extra attention to other monitors at friends/families houses and found the others controls to be clunky and picture not as clear. My wife and I are very pleased so far with this monitor and can't wait to use it for our baby. The range is great everywhere in and around my house. The talk feature works great and voice is clear on both ends. like many others, I highly recommend this monitor.

* One-Stop, Top-Tier ALL YOU NEED Baby Monitor System *
Top tier product. Extremely well thought out and designed. We have had ours for 6 months or so. I did a ton of research and review reading before we chose this monitor to include separate stand-alone video cameras and monitors with separate audio monitors. Here’s a summary of the best elements and why you would do well to buy this one. My brother bought a stand alone HD 1080p video quality camera to monitor his kids. However, you must have a WiFi connection to set it up on. They also needed a separate audio monitor solution with the setup they chose. Also, they have to monitor the camera with an app, which based on our real-life experience with the DXR-8 would no longer be a consideration for us. Having a self-contained system in the DXR-8 is absolutely the simplest and best option for a number of reasons in our opinion. Firstly, it is stand alone and does not require WiFi, it communicates directly from the camera to the monitor. Also, you don’t need to have an app on your phone which is soooo nice, because you can have the monitor up and listening to audio at all times and still have your phone free for all the things you do on there. Having this self-contained system is awesome, when we go to the Lakehouse or to a hotel when traveling the DXR-8 is small and a snap to pack up and set up in the new location - no trying to get WiFi access. It is - quite simply - effortless. Also, I cannot think of a practical need for a higher-resolution monitor (screen) for monitoring your baby while they sleep or play. The primary things we watch for is 1) are they breathing, 2) how are they positioned in the crib, 3) are they sleeping or fighting going to sleep. The resolution on the DXR-8 is more than adequate for all of those things. Plus, and one of the most exceptional feature - is the zoom feature. While they do have several different lenses you can put on the camera (which is awesome), we found that the standard lense works best for us BECAUSE OF THE ZOOM OPTION! So we can set the camera on the corner of the crib with some Gorilla tape underneath it to hold it in place, or we can set it across the room and zoom in and still see everything we need to see. Then of course you can pan left and right and tilt up and down, so you can do everything you can possibly conceive of with this system. Also, and we didn’t realize this being new parents when we bought this - most of the time, and throughout the night - audio cues are primarily what you will be paying attention to. You can flip on the camera anytime, and it has settings for staying on 3min or 5min before the screen blanks, or until you click the button again to turn the image off again. Having the camera off extends the battery life. If you need to keep the audio turned off, any sounds the baby makes will still register a color scale on the left side of the screen from red (low volume sounds) to green (high volume sounds) so you can still monitor audio activity without having the volume up. My spouse and I take turns having the monitor every other night, and if our son wakes us up initially with a sound, we can turn the volume off and continue to monitor the audio level with the led register. Also you can dim the screen, we have it on full dim at night so it doesn’t completely light up our bedroom in the middle of the night if we check on him. It brightens plenty to see it outside during the daytime as well. And I could write more great details on the night mode as well as day mode. Also, the camera pan and tilt is not noisy as I had read in one review. While it may not be completely silent, it it definitely not a significant source of sound and has never had an effect on our sleeping child. And on top of all that, their customer service is absolutely top-tier. Gladys has helped us twice since we’ve had the product. We have had a battery start to have issues with not holding a charge and they rapidly got the replacement process started the same day we reached out to them. I don’t know if you’ll get Gladys, but whoever you get will be as excellent as her I’m sure. There are real people in the support department and they treat you like a person; you’re not just another number feeling like getting real support help is more theoretical then it is practical with these guys. So, highly recommmend from A to Z. Don’t think you can go wrong with this! Also you can pair up to 4 cameras to the one monitor. We just move the camera around during the day, but you could install one in the nursery, on in the living room, and wherever else you like - and switch between them all with one monitor. Hope this has helped if you’re a research nerd like I am. I had to read multiple reviews in multiple different locations to make my final decision on what to buy. Hopefully this review has been thorough enough to help you learn all you need to know about the DXR-8. Maybe it’s not what your looking for, but I would be hard-pressed to imagine any scenario where another product could serve its purpose any better. As for us, we are happy, happy campers. :)
