I bought mine in May 2014 and have been very happy with it. I've never understood why the name brand pool cleaners are so expensive - $350-$400 in my area, and the parts are also expensive, all for a bunch of plastic and rubber. The kit came with all the necessary parts - the cleaner itself, the hose sections, the hose weights, and the pressure regulator that allows you to adjust the water bypass at the skimmer connection. The hose sections are the same size as the ones you can buy for a Barracuda or Kreepy Krauly at your local pool supply store. One guy at a pool store told me they only expect them (the name brand ones) to last about two years, so if you believe that you'd spend about $175-$200 per year on average. I figured that for about $80-$85, I could buy one of these every year if necessary and still save money! I did run into one problem though and it took me a while to figure it out. It may be a coincidence, but once the water got cold all of a sudden my generic Kreepy Krauly wouldn't move when the pump came on each day. The flapper seemed to get stuck against one side. Interestingly, if I reached into the water and fiddled with the flapper with my fingers, I could get it moving again and then it would run for several hours until my pump cycled off. But the next day when the timer started the pump again, it wouldn't move again until I started it manually. I did all the usual fixes - I made sure the pool was backwashed and the pressure was correct. There was no debris inside the head obstructing the flapper, or in any other part of the cleaner. There was plenty of suction - obviously that wasn't the problem because once I started it manually it would run just fine. After much trial and error I finally figured out that the baffle plate was rubbing against the flapper, just barely, but enough to keep the flapper from starting to move. It always got stuck against the same side where the screw holds the baffle plate on. All I can guess is that the flapper is mostly rubber and expanded just the slightest bit now that the water is cold. One side of the baffle plate is held with a screw, and the other side is held in place by two small protrusions from the plate that fit into holes in the cleaner head. The holes allow the baffle plate to move up and down just a little bit on one side, maybe just 1/8", but the other side where the screw is cannot move. I tried loosening the screw, but the suction just pulled the plate against the flapper. So I finally hit on the solution of putting a small washer under the baffle plate, held in place by the screw. This lifts the baffle plate just enough to keep it from rubbing up against the flapper. I bought a stainless steel washer at my local hardware store so that it wouldn't rust. The screw that comes with the Kreepy Krauly is also stainless steel. I have posted photos of the fix with this review - I hope it saves somebody else some time! In the picture the screw is not tightened all the way down yet, just for illustration purposes, but I did tighten it snugly against the washer before I put it back in the water. December 2014 Please see the other posts and replies from other users - there is lots of good information. I did buy another one of these in Feb 2016, so the original one lasted about 21 months. See the third picture that shows the wear on the original one compared to the new one just out of the box. The baffle cover tabs eventually wear against and enlarge the slots that they fit into. So my original washer technique only worked when the holes were only beginning to wear. But the larger the slots got, the more drastic the effort became to keep the baffle plate from touching and thus hindering the movement of the flapper. It has been four months since I got the new one, and there is no sign yet of the slots getting larger. It's still working great. Hopefully the manufacturer has used harder plastic or increased the thickness of it around the tab slots. I know there are some doubters, but I still think it's worth it. I just checked a national pool supply web site and the name brand Kreepy Krauly is listed for $350 and the Baracuda G3 is listed for $280. (I'll never get a Baracuda again - those rubber "throats" wear out too quickly and I just checked that same pool supply web site and they list for $52!!) June 2016

I received my cleaner 3 days ago. I am extremely happy with it. Years ago I spent a lot of money on pool cleaners that did not work using the pool top skimmer. Each of these had to be returned to my local Pinch A Penny store. I gave up trying automated cleaners and hired a pool maintenance company. For financial reasons I cancelled the service as fall weather came on in 2015. Because I live in south Alabama I want my pool clean year around. I cleaned it manually a few times and remembered why I stopped doing it myself. I had several different pool cleaners saved in my Amazon wish list for the past couple of months. All of them were $250-$800. Then I found this one and saw it had some good reviews along with some marginal ones. But because of the price and Amazons fantastic return policy I ordered it. When I told my wife what I did she shook her head reminding me of the several failed product over the past years. When it arrived I put it together right away. I found the assembly to be quite easy but when doing it I began to have doubts that something this simple would work effectively. As soon as I out this cleaner in my pool it started working perfectly. It even picked up some good size debris in the deep end. I ran it for two days stopping only when I went to bed. It did get hung up in one spot, one time. I can handle that. If this lasts only one season it is a bargain. But I can't see why it won't last longer, we'll see. After spending $175-$250 monthly on a maintenance company I could buy one every couple of months and be ahead financially. I'll try to do a follow up review in a few weeks, hopefully it will be a good one. I couldn't wait to show my wife how well it worked. And then when she asked how many hundreds of dollars I spent I grinned and told her the price. I did see the 'name brand' version at a pool supply store for $295 a few days ago.

This works as well as the original kreepy which I had one, years ago. Since then I've gone through two expensive electric cleaners which only seem to last a couple of years. Too expensive. I decided to try this one out, the price is great. When it's first installed and in the pool, you need to push it a few times with the pool pole from one end of pool to other end. I have the weights set as follow, the first is 5 inched from cleaner, the other two in middle of hose two and three. This seems to remove any invisible kink or twist in the hoses that keeps the cleaner from running the full pool diameter. I say this because at first use, the cleaner wanted to just hand out in the deep end. Now the cleaners walks my full pool end to end. Been running for days without any problems.

Is it Chinese/Generic? Yes Is it worth the $80? Absolutely. My boyfriend and I bought a house in June with a pool. Since neither one of us had owned a pool in the past, we hired a pool company for monthly maintenance and service. My boyfriend has been telling me since then that we weren't getting our money's worth. We finally decided to get a pool vacuum for the pool since our pool was constantly green. Well, we decided to test this out yesterday, and it's been in our pool ever since. With the help of a local pool company, we were able to get the pool from swampy to sparkling in a mere 24 hours. Then, this creepy sucked up all the dead algae, dirt, and "stuff" our pool people couldn't do. Even if we have to buy one every year, it will STILL be worth it! Oh, it did took a while to figure out the weights. And sometimes we still have to guide it to the shallow end, but it's a small price to pay. So, needless to say, this $80 creepy will be saving me $100+ a month. Deuces, pool maintenance company. Hello freedom!

This little critter is great, especially for the price. Yeah, I'd like to have one of those $1,000 robot pool cleaners, but for under $100, this one does great! It had my pool cleaned in about 3 hours, and I didn't do what the instructions said, which was to brush and totally clean it before using this (huh?) That's like cleaning before the cleaning lady comes. (well, okay; so I do that.) This is my second XremepowerUS Automatic Suction Vacuum; the first had a handle part break after a few years, but it was still working up until then, so once again - for the money, this is a great little workhorse of a vacuum. For those having trouble - work with it; adjust the flow of water to your skimmers, add or remove hose - it WILL work if you use it properly. It may not get every single inch of your pool, but with a little diligence on your part, it will keep your pool much cleaner than without using it. We have big trees around our pool, and there is always a little debris in the pool, except when there is absolutely no wind, which is rare in Kansas.

So my sweeper broke again as it does every 2nd year after the warranty runs out. My pool man quoted me $400 for a new one and this time, I told him to wait while I searched online for a better deal. Due to my laziness, I waited until the next week when my pool man came and had him install it. He asked me how much I got this for and I told him $90 after tax. He seemed really surprised. It took him 20 minutes to install it and clean my pool. I wanted to talk to him after he was done, but I guess its so easy for a pro like him that he left before I was finished with my coffee. I sat outside and stared at the newly installed sweeper and could not tell a bit of difference between my $400 sweeper and my $90 sweeper. After a week, I found that maybe the rubber used for the flap is not as strong because if it starts to fold in at the bottom, it would get stuck. Since I go outside every morning to let the dog do his thing, I just check to see if the flap is flat. If it isn't, I just poke it with a stick and that is it. I will ask the pool man to add more weight to it and it should be fine. I'm going to take the $310 saved and buy myself better coffee. Thank you, XtremepowerUS! One of my best purchases on Amazon.

I wish that I’d have discovered this cleaner a longbtime ago. In one day it dis the job my old cleaner took days to accomplish and I didn’t have to go drag it around with the pool broom. If you’re still on the fence about this cleaner it’s probably because you’re looking at similar units for three times the price and wondering what’s wrong with this one. Well, buy this one and send me the other $200 if it makes you feel better. In reality I’m trying to figure out how thenother brands are getting the prices they do. I had this out of the box, assembled, and running in my pool in about 15 minutes. My secret? I read the instructions. That took 3 minutes of the total 15. My old unit is the Hayward that looks like a little tank with fluttering bars on the sides which are driven by an impeller that spins as water flows across it. That little Hayward beats itself to death by design. Every few months it stops driving and I have to disassemble it to get to the screws that hold the fluttering bars on, reassemble it and tighten everytaling the way. Then hope it runs for a minth before some random acorn finds its way into the impeller. This unit basically has no moving parts. The component shown in the photo for setting the pressure? I didn’t even use it. I plugged my suction hose into the cleaner and tossed it into the pool. It immediately went to work. I haven’t had to touch it again. No tangled hoses. It doesn’t get stuck on the main drain cover in the deep end like my old one, either. Remember the scene from Finding Nemo where the fis in the Dentist’s aquarium stopped up the filter? The tank got green and nasty, but the next day the dentist had replaced the filter and the water was instantly clear? Yeah- that’s pretty much my experience with this unit.

We have purchased the real Kreepy Krauly which is ridiculously expensive. Although it does last a long time it always hurts to replace it due to the hefty price point. Our current one wasn't suctioning to the floor well and decided it would be time to replace it again. After seeing so many great reviews we decided to purchase the generic one. We are so happy that we did and sad we didn't do it sooner. It seems to be well built and hope that it will lasts us a few years. Replacing it when it goes bad won't be so painful. The suctioning is great especially after we replaced our pool pump this year to the variable speed dual pump. This has been a great purchase and hope that with all these awesome reviews the price won't go up. My dog loves to swim in the summers (the only one in the household actually using the pool!)

I bought one of these in February, 2015 and put it together and installed it in my pool myself in about 30 minutes. My automatic cleaning operation is set for 10 hours a day 5 days a week (I live in an extremely windy area and am surrounded by trees) and in all that time it has operated EXACTLY as advertised and has had no operational malfunctions. My pool man had offered to sell and install a different but similar one for $400.00. When he saw this he was so impressed he had me forward him the web site so he could buy them for his business, he said it was MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE than what he was buying at the time and after he pulled it out and looked it over he said the quality was equal to or better than what he had been buying. It crawls about 3/4 the way up the walls of my pool so once a week I go out and brush down the BEACH LANDING (it won't go up on that by itself) and the top foot of the pool sides and my pool is spotless. I MAY BUY ANOTHER SOON JUST TO HAVE A BACK-UP IN CASE YEARS FROM NOW IT FAILS IN SOME WAY. I JUST CAN'T BEAT THIS PRICE, ANYWHERE. UPDATE: It has been just over 11 months now and the POOL CLEANER is still working as advertised. I have a PEBBLE POOL which feels fine on the feet but it is apparently very rough on the BACK SIDE POOL STRAP (the one with the 3 balls on it), one side of my strap is completely worn out and it keeps getting knocked off the Cleaner when it comes in contact with a wall. I found a identical replacement on Amazon for $13,00, and while I was waiting for it to arrive I kept using the Pool Sweep without the strap, EUREKA, I noticed that the Pool Sweep now goes to the extreme top of the pool and transverses the entire length and width of the pool. I may leave the new strap off unless some other malfunction occurs because I am not using it. All in all I would rate this 95 out of 100. The manufacturer could have made it so the balls rotate when they come in contact with the side of the pool and they would last for years. Good Luck
