Excellent tool. Cheap, ridiculously hot and the nozzle attachments give it the extra versatility I needed to heat shrink electrical connections without melting the surrounding countryside. I really like the fact that it can safely stand up on end with the nozzle pointing straight up. That frees both of your hands to manipulate whatever it is you are treating with the heat gun.

I read a review here before buying it that it helped them remove old bumper stickers. Well, it does! (with some chemical help and a plastic knife) My stickers were nearly 10 years old and this gun made it so easy to get them off. I plan to use it for other projects and crafts, but it gave my car new life. It even works on glass! If you're in my situation, don't hesitate and get it!

I purchased this product for fixing imperfections in my candles as I hand make soy candles. The heat gun did better than I expected and gets extremely hot... I’d say it got up to easily 200 degrees and I only used it on low setting! I definitely do not recommend for children use as my kids like to help me but it was too hot for them to handle. The plastic handle part gets warm but not unbearable, however, the metal part is extremely hot to the touch and I only used it approx. up to one minute at a time. I laid it on its side but don’t recommend it because it started to smoke, I believe because the ventilation on the one side was covered so I just held it until I was finished. Once I was done, I unplugged it and let it cool off a bit and then laid it on its side to finish cooling. Overall, I’m more than satisfied especially for the price! I just got it today so I hope it holds up and the quality is as good as I think it is!!!

I had to solder some cables to 120V cooling fans. These connections must be insulated for safety, but I just can't stand gooey electrical tape. I had heat-shrink insulating tubing, but my old heat gun died. Using matches or a lighter makes for a poor application. Since I don't do much of this work anymore, I wanted a cheap replacement, and I wanted a few nozzle attachments to control the heat better. This gun is inexpensive but not cheap. It looks and feels like a tool several times the price. It produces enormous heat at its 1500W High setting; Genesis claims you can sweat-solder plumbing pipes with it. Be careful! I'll probably use the 750W Low setting for everything. The nozzle attachments are a heavier gauge than expected and fit securely. Definitely not cheap-feeling. I like the design feature that lets it lie securely on its back on a workbench, aiming up so you can manipulate the work with two hands if needed. Cons: The seam at the front of the handle is a little uncomfortable. I'll probably file it smooth. No big deal. Caution: I saw quite a lot of white smoke coming out of the gun after couple of minutes of use; it smelled like hot production residues (oil, insulation, paint, etc.) coming off. It billowed out the shell of the gun like some movie prop, but diminished quickly and was completely gone after about 5 minutes of running. It is perfectly normal, though this gun's enormous heat output gave it the Oscar for best short duration fume production by a non-smoke grenade I've ever seen. I bet many buyers return these guns after seeing the smoke. It would have been wise for Genesis to "burn it in" at the factory. Had I no experience with the smell of real fires and burned electrical parts, I might have dropped it and breathlessly called 911 from the driveway. I suggest you "burn it in" outdoors or near a window so you don't smell up the house. As Douglas Adams would say: Don't panic!

For the money you cannot find a better heat gun. I purchased this unit to replace a much more expensive heat gun that did not work as well as this one. Heats up fast and gets extremely hot. The In included tips fit on the gun extremely well.

This is a great unit, I am thoroughly impressed at how fast it gets hot, and just how hot it gets. I originally bought this to heat up metal pieces before I painted them, but since then I have found so many more uses for it. It comes with various nozzles that help aim the hot air for you, I haven't used them too much, the nozzle on the unit along is quite precise and directional. I have used it as stated above to heat up metal before painting, and if you are not careful you can actually warp the metal, or make it so hot it will burn your skin off. This item is no joke, the heat that comes off of this in the first 10 seconds is staggering. I have used it to melt solder on a board that I was working on, it did a great job. In the low setting the air flow was not high enough to blow the parts or solder away. So, I heated up the circuit board until the solder was fluid, and then I used tweezers to remove the faulty item before the solder hardened. I used an iron to add solder to the empty pads, so that I could add a replacement, and then I fluxed the pins on the replacement chip, and laid it on the solder pads, and used the heat gun to melt the new solder and it dropped snuggly down in place. Perfect fit, and the unit powered up working the first try. This was a small pitch surface mount IC, there is no way I could have soldered this on by hand, or even remove the original part. I was resigned to throwing it out, so I decided I would try this, without much hopes of it working, but it really impressed me. There are many other more expensive units out there, but I really don't know what they could have that this one doesn't. Keep in mind that I haven't had it very long, so maybe there is a life-time issue, but I am doubting it. The thing is solid, and I can tell it is made well. The heat is impressive and very fast. This is all you should need for a heat gun, in my opinion.

This heat gun is awesome! I've used other more expensive heat guns and this one didn't feel any different. I was a little nervous about how cheap this was but, it is such a great gun! I did see a review from another person where the gun melted. Maybe they kept the gun running throughout their entire project. This gun does get very hot but, the on and off button is easy to switch off and on when using it. I wouldn't recommend keeping it on the whole time unless you're using it. It gets extremely hot so you should only have it on when you're actually applying heat to something. If you need it to run non-stop for long periods of time, maybe you need a different tool for the job.

The heat gun works. Sure it feels lightweight and cheap, but you get what you pay for. I mainly bought this item to use on heat shrink tubing. I was tired of using a lighter to do the same job. The item arrived in a cardboard box and did not appear to have been opened or used in the past. Previous reviews noted that this heat gun smokes a lot with first use. I ran it on full blast for several minutes outside in order to break it in. I did not notice any weird smells or smoke. Maybe they fixed that issue? It works great for now for my intended use. We'll see how long it lasts.

I was hesitant about buying this heat gun initially because the price was so low but after reading several positive reviews I decided to give it a shot. Extremely glad I did. This heat gun is on par with guns that cost 4 to 5 times as much. There's a faint burning smell when first used (like all heat guns) but that burns off in a minute or so of use. I've used it several times on various projects and haven't run into any issues. Highly recommend this product.

I've been wanting one of these for small projects and this worked perfectly. My wife found a used baby cart that was pretty scratched up and this gun did a perfect job of restoring it (Pictures attached). Next I'm going to use it on the scratch marks on the plastic door panels in my car. A little heat and the dings just melt away. Mine shipped very quickly and I am extremely happy with my new heat gun.
