This is a very nice foam mattress! I needed something to use as a bed for our Australian Shepherd after his surgery and this is great! So much nicer than the fiber filled dog pillow type beds. I didn't trust the waterproof cover this comes with so I also purchased a waterproof quilted cover to go over the original cover and it has worked out great. This takes standard crib sheets and is very comfortable and supportive. I tried it when it arrived and it actually felt great on my back, it's firmer and more comfortable than the foam mattress topper I have on our bed! There was a pretty strong odor when I first unwrapped it but the odor dissipated in a couple of hours and the mattress was able to be used right away. *Updated 1/31/18- Just bought another mattress for our young great dane puppy(90 lbs). These are great for large dogs. I bought a waterproof mattress cover for this one too, when the sheets get dirty I toss them in the wash and the beds are still clean. I went through too many expensive dog beds that can't be laundered, they havent shredded or ripped these and even sleep better. Love these mattresses for our dogs!

I have twins. Life is expensive. So, when I needed new mattresses for their toddler beds I wanted the best quality for my money. This is it. My original crib mattresses where over $150 each. I wanted to get natural/ organic because my twins were preemies with sensitive skin. Fast forward about 3 years, they are top tiles for height and weight with no issues. I figure I could relax a bit on the 'best mattress'. Mattresses arrived on time, and I had to unroll. No big deal. They expanded in 30 minutes. The first wonderful thing I noticed was the quality of the outer covering. FANTASTIC. Not only do I love the gray, but it is sturdy, yet soft. Please understand that I spent LESS on these 2 mattresses than I did for ONE when my girls were newborns. This is hands over better quality. Period. Second, My girls slept through the night. For some, this is not a big deal. For a mom with 4 kids, 2 being 2.5 year old twins that DO NOT sleep through the night, this is a HUGE deal. I even had to check on them, and I saw them snuggled up in their beds ... sleeping away. My heart melted, then I went back to sleep. Night after Night, priceless. Next is an unexpected HUGE plus. For three years my girls would have bed head. I tried oils, conditioners, satin sheets, special hairbrushes, haircuts, you name it I tried it. My girls had such BAD bedhead, random people in the store would comment on it. After family saying ,'they will grow out of it', I gave up. I kept putting in oils, conditioner, brushing their hair in hopes I would wake up to a miracle. I didn't.....until my girls woke up from this mattress. PRAISE the LORD. I do not know if this mattress is the reason, or if angels came down that night and fixed their hair. You decide on that one. I love that my girls will cover up with their blankets, lay their head down and fall asleep. I know they are sleeping in comfort, and wake up with nice hair. It even held my weight up, & yes FIRM but SOFT!

I wish the mattress was 2 inches thicker, because my crib frame is lower than the older/previous cribs I've owned, but overall I can't complain. I tested this mattress myself and if you're looking for firm, you will not be disappointed. When other reviewers said "it's soft and firm" at the same time, I didn't know how that was possible, but now I know what they mean. I wanted a foam mattress because my toddlers had one and it was very durable and not easy to beat up at all (these were cheaper, harder foam mattresses at the time that were like $32) but my kids slept well. I didn't quite know that this mattress was that expensive memory foam! When I laid on the mattress (see pics) it was very comfortable and even held my weight up nicely (165 lbs with pregnancy). I immediately could feel that if I slept here, there would be very little tossing and turning. I am real big on infant mattresses, so being satisfied with this is a really big deal! The waterproof cover is very thick, it is a heavy duty strong fabric; YOU WILL NEED A MATTRESS PAD for cushion (see my last pic with the fitted sheet, the mattress pattern bleeds through the sheet and still needs a cushioning for complete comfort). You won't regret your purchase especially for the price!!!!

After 7 long years the baby mattress that we used for our daughter, son and now dog had finally met the end of its life. Which ment I was in the market for a new dog bed for our 8yr old 125lb Lab/Pit mix whole has bad hips and found nothing but awful reviews on these fancy pet beds that would go flat under his weight. After 2hrs of searching and review reading on actual dogs beds I gave up and started looking at crib mattresses again. I am so glad I did! For under 50$ i was about to get him this mattress, sheets and even an additional waterproof cover. The mattress its self comes vacuum sealed and is flat before opening it. With in minutes of it being out of the package the mattress took its full shape and its perfectly perfect! Its firm, doesn't sink and the best part is our big boy loves it!! I have ZERO complaints. :)

stopped the jumping in the bed

Bought this for my kid who seemed to think his crib was a trampoline every night at bed time. Have only had it in the crib for a week, but what a difference. This does not bounce when he starts trying to jump on it, so no more night time trampoline. Also i have notice that he is going to sleep a lot faster on it. Normally he would be rolling around and changing positions for anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes when I would put him to bed. Since changing out the mattress we have had one night that he rolled around and was cranky for about 10 minutes. Even if he wasn't actually sleeping any better, the end of the crib being a bounce house at bed time is reason enough to give this 5 stars.

Excellent Mattress - for either kids or pets!

So, like some others, I did purchase this for my elderly dog - BUT I'm going to give an overall review as I also have younger kids, even tho they aren't using this (we got this as our dog was already using a "hand down coil crib mattress"). No specific usage review here! First off - I let it "inflate" for 72 hours under a ceiling fan and flipped/rotated it every 12 hours, without the cover on it and it got to 4.5 inches thick. I won't complain about that as it is still a good depth, but I was hoping to see it get to at least 5 inches. But I did NOT notice a single odor to it. Second, the cover does seem fairly durable and does look to be waterproof - MINUS the bottom part that is just cotton. Since our dog does have some urine muscle control issues, I'll be using a second waterproof encasement over the one that this came with (extra protection). The cover does make a crinkle sound, but it's not bad. BUT the cover is NOT machine washable! I took a picture of the care instructions that shows this - so those who had issues with the cover, that could be why. Third, I wish I knew about this sooner...would've gotten one for my youngest kiddo couple years ago! (He's now about to be moved to a twin size). This mattress is slightly bigger than the coil spring mattress, so it will fit cribs and toddler beds A LOT more snuggly - a big plus in my book! I can honestly say that I have absolutely NO doubts, questions, or reservations about this mattress. I would totally buy this for either a child or a large dog...and would undoubtedly buy this over a coil spring mattress any day.

Worth it!

This mattress is a little larger than a standard mattress however it still fits a standard crib. I have some crib sheets that are super snug but totally doable, and some that fit like a glove. It fits snugly in the crib which I like! Within an hour the mattress was full sized and firm. Even my 4 year old layed on it without issue. I had read reviews about the water proof cover being bad and not working so I had zero intention of using it. I do have a waterproof sheet already. I purchased this mattress because it was less than the one without the cover. I did decide to test the cover out and it repelled the water for over 20min before I cleaned it up. I'm still not using it though because it is crinkly material.

Great Mattress!

So, I know a lot of people are complaining that the water resistant cover doesn't hold up but honestly I don't understand why people are putting a sheet directly over this and then laying their baby on it. Its awfully hard and rough. Its just meant to act as a bag and protect the foam not act as a mattress pad and be washed every day. I just put waterproof mattress pads on it. That way I've never had to even wash the waterproof liner because no pee has ever touched it. And just like that, you can easily keep it from falling apart. It's a great mattress for a great price. And, it was at full size within 15 min of me taking it out of the box. The liner is silent and doesn't make any plastic noises. 100% would buy again!

Wont be using it for a long time but my initial thought...

I researched mattresses for DAYS!! I was about to buy a $300 mattress when I came across a blog that had rated crib mattresses for 2018. This one was on there and they had very little bad things to say. The $200 and $300 mattress had equally good and bad things about them which made it hard to choose. From reading the reviews on here, it seemed like the main issue with this mattress was that the mattress cover wasn't exactly waterproof... so I got an organic waterproof cover for $20. Problem solved. The smell from packaging was so faint that I had to search for it (read about the smell in a review too). It was gone within minutes. The bed is firm which I wanted and I laid on it myself for a few minutes to see if I would sink into it and I didn't. So far this is everything we were looking for and the price was SO reasonable. Honestly, IF our son doesn't like it at least I am only out $60 instead of $300.

Very, very, very pleased.

Shipping was quick, arrived in a small box, expanded immediately once exposed to air, and fits perfectly in the crib frame leaving absolutely no gaps in between the mattress and crib for little limbs to get caught on. Firm, and overall very pleased!
