An advent calendar meant to last

This advent calendar is very nice. The quality and attention to detail is apparent. We will use this every year. My kids love putting choosing which piece will go up next, and picking the pieces out of the box. It would be nice if there was a better place to store the pieces for the rest of the year. The box at the bottom does not detach or have a lid so I was very careful packing it away. We put all the pieces in a ziplock bag so they wouldn't get lost.

Perfect for what I needed.

I'm so glad I purchased this! I'd been searching for a quality advent calendar for a few Christmases to enjoy with my son, who is now 3, that didn't involve chocolate. The types of wooden advent calendars with the small wooden boxes or drawers are expensive! So this is a great price, made of wood also and helps your child with counting the days and deciding which ornament to place on the tree each night. We're a busy family, so I wanted an activity that can be quick but still mark the days, and this is definitely it. I could see this being enjoyed by our family for many years to come.

A very slow way to learn to count to 25

Really enjoying this. Pros from a dad of a very active 3-year old: * No moving parts or anything that can be ripped, snapped or broken. * No candy. * Has a little tray for holding all of the ornaments if the child decides to wipe the tree clean and start again. * If an ornament is lost, it should be easy enough to get a new magnet to replace it. * Each ornament is different, and we've been trying to use the ones with characters on them to notate when we did something special that day (seeing Santa, first snowfall or building snowman, getting a tree, building gingerbread house, etc) Only 2 cons I have are: * The magnets are not super strong, so they might fall off, not really a big deal * Wish the tray had a locking lid so this could be stored for the season without losing the magnets

Great Allergen Friendly Advent Calendar!

My son has a whole plethora of allergies, but I still really wanted to get him an advent calendar last year. This tree totally saved the day! Not only is it allergen friendly (he chewed on the ornaments to make sure!) but it can also be a lasting keepsake that we bring out every year. The magnets work great even after being played with by a 1.5 year old, and the little box at the bottom of the tree makes it super easy to clean everything up. The colors are bright and eye catching too. Very satisfied!

Perfect Advent Calendar!

Perfect advent calendar! My daughter is 2.5 now and is starting to grasp (and love) the whole Christmas thing, but she's been confused at how it's been "Christmas" since Halloween (which she also loves). I've been trying to explain that it's "Christmas Time" or "Christmas Season", and that there are X many days until Christmas. This calendar is teaching her about time and patience, and it's super helpful when she keeps wondering when Santa comes. Not to mention that it's super cute, and she is having so much fun choosing an ornament each morning to add to the tree. Bonus, she's excited that it's *her* tree to put ornaments on since she isn't allowed to touch the ornaments on the big tree. Now, if Melissa & Doug could just make a larger advent calendar with 365+ days until Christmas.... OMG, I'm going to search to see if there's one for a Days to Halloween countdown!! *fingers crossed!*

Beautiful sparkly tree

I have had mixed feelings about Melissa and Doug because when it comes to quality only about half of the stuff I buy from them seems to be any good. I was wary of buying this because of the quality issue I've had in the past. I didn't need to be - this tree is absolutely lovely. The ornaments and tree itself have glitter on them, but it doesn't shed which I appreciate. It is super pretty and a great toy or advent calendar for children. All of my kids (1.5-7) enjoy playing with it and I am considering getting another one for the oldest two to keep in their room.

Christmas Star Guide Me Home Tonight

I love it. Great job on construction, it's sturdy and holds up well. The box on the bottom holds the little ornaments that attach to the tree by using magnets. They included extra ornaments in case any get lost, which is a huge + for me. The tree itself looks beautiful, pictured just as it is in the product picture. The ornaments are themed with Christmas characters or patterns. They are a good size and can be seen from a distance. I love the product, I do wish that the printing on the back side could be removed, I only notice it because the calendar sits in front of a mirror and I am add, but no one else has noticed it, so I will not dock a star. Thank so much for this, I will cherish it and keep it around for many Christmas holidays to come.

Well Made, Lots of Replay Value

Purchased as a gift for my three-year old niece. She loved it. She's just starting to understand the concept of time and this worked well to show the passage of days until Christmas. Unlike regular advent calendars, this one is made for play. It also has a lot of replay value because the wooden, magnetic "ornaments" can be placed on any date on the tree. My niece enjoyed decorating and undecorating the tree over and over. The decorations are a nice size for little hands and the attached wooden tray at the bottom of the tree is generously sized to hold all of the ornaments plus the star. I know she'll enjoy this advent calendar for many years to come.

Perfect advent calendar for little ones

I love just about anything Melissa & Doug anyways, and this is no exception. Everything is made of quality wood, not cheap materials. It will stand up to little ones being typical kids with it. The tray in the bottom holds everything well. My girls are 3 and 5, and they love taking turns putting an ornament on the tree each day. This is the best way to count down to Christmas without adding 5 million tiny toy parts to our toy bin like other advent calendars. We can reuse this from year to year and then hand it off to other kids. Perfect! And the price was the best part.

Just what I was looking for... our 14 month old is still too little for the chocolate advent calendars, and we wanted something non-messy and sturdy that she could interact with but that would still be fun for years to come. This "calendar" is high quality and simple but still fun and attractive. She likes to take all the ornaments off every morning, which is fine, we just put up different ones up every day.... we're all enjoying it and looking forward to doing it again next year.
