Awesome A/V Receiver
This is a refurbished receiver but I'm still happy because it's half the cost of a "new" one and I defy anyone to tell the difference. It's fabulous unit with great sound and a plethora of features including bluetooth and wifi. Easy to setup and use. I highly recommend it.

Brilliant receiver
After adding an HDR projector, I realized that my crazy daisy chain of HDMI workarounds on my Logitech Z906 wasn't gonna cut it anymore. Bought the AVR-S740H. Re-connected all the Logitech's speaker leads to the receiver's. Connected a 3.5mm to RCA adapter for the subwoofer. Now the Z906 only deals with subwoofer output from the receiver, and the receiver handles the rest of my audio. I've got 4 HDMI devices, and they work like a charm. This includes an Apple TV 4K, which passes 60hz 4K HDR to my BenQ HT5550 projector just fine, and an X9S, which sends both 4K HDR and 3D to my projector, again with no problem. Windows 10 doesn't seem to "detect" a full 60hz on 4K output, but my Nvidia management software detects it just fine and I can get 4K output from my PC, through the receiver, to the projector, again, just fine. Cons - Any menu stuff does not get "composited" onto my screen. That is, if I want to change settings on the receiver, I basically have to pause whatever I'm watching. Only 5 HDMI inputs on the back and 1 on the front, if that's a concern for you. Pros - Feeds my speakers fine, HDMI switching is fast, 100% compatibility across all my stuff, and cuts down dramatically on my cables. For about two-fiddy, the price is great.

For 90% of us out there, this receiver is a perfect fit.
Purchased to replace a quickly dying Harman-Kardon. Before that a Kenwood, AWIA... you name it chances are I've had one. Skeptical on the price. Skeptical on the refurb status but have had luck with refurbs in the past. Purchased...unboxed.... and wow. So you have hand written service tags from the techs that serviced the unit. That's something you don't see much....impressed. This unit didn't even have a finger print on it. So, removing ten years of RCA cables too and fro though a tiny passage though a stone fireplace later and re-routing HDMIs and a small spider battle, I'm ready. So I think. To my pleasant surprise.... this box is built with an automated config startup procedure. (you must have it cabled to your TV at this point!) This is a plus! I see some reviews that state this is a hindrance but not at all. People will half-a$$ the install (gurl, you know it's true) and then send it right back because it didn't perform to their "discriminating" tastes..huh huh. Hook up the sensor MIC, run though the system test and it will configure the base-line speaker levels automatically based on the acoustics of your environment. So this monkey has been fully integrated into my entertainment system for two months and I have been nothing but smiles. It's pushing 2- Kenwood dual 8" cabinets (FR/FL) Stellar Labs Center, and 2 - AIWA rear (LR/RR). I hear things I haven't in years and it's not my ears. My ears are pretty awesome. So....I would recommend this unit to anyone. I would purchase another in a heart beat for sure..... You won't be disappointed. The only test now is longevity. That's the tough one. I generally try to blow out dust and make sure of no heat build up but at the end of the day they all die. If I score 5 years from this guy...it will be more than worth it. Side note - To break any receiver in properly, you must play Top Gun. It's the rules. End note - Install it correctly. Use it as the controller of your system as it was designed and you will enjoy it as I am now. God Speed.
