Great! The worms arrived earlier than they were predicted to arrive and were still wriggling, even after being left outside in the cold Ohio weather! Comes with easy to follow instructions and helpful tips. The only bummer is that shipping adds a lot to the price, but I still have no complaints!

I ordered my worms on Sunday and they just arrived today, Thursday. I was a bit leery about the whole process, as shipping live worms from PA to CA seemed like a recipe for disaster. Would they be jet-lagged? Would they be dead? But I just opened the bag and dumped the worms in my composting bin and they were lively, wiggly, large and healthy. A squirt or two of water and they wriggled even more. I'll check back in a day or two to see how they're doing, but for now, I couldn't be happier. Thanks, Uncle Jim.

I bought these for my vertical garden, which has a composter within it. They arrived (as the instructions said they would) dehydrated and not very active. I was worried about them going through the mail and the ordeal that would be for them. But they were moving a little so I took comfort in that. I put them in according to the directions and my garden is doing great, so I assume they are doing their job. I recommend this product and will be ordering more worms from Uncle Jim's.

Uncle Jim's Worm Farm - Don't buy worms anywhere else. I did. DOA. Sad and very smelly. You will receive live healthy red wigglers. Uncle Jim's Worm Farm knows how to package and ship worms. Helpful information enclosed. I use red wigglers for an outdoor compost pile. Red Wigglers do the work for me (no more turning compost). Makes beautiful compost. Do all the things the information sheet tells you to do upon arrival (in advance if you can). You can visit his web site to get prepared before you receive your shipment.

When I received this package, I was in the middle of making some food. I opened the box and plopped the bag down on the table until I was ready to free the wormies. Didn't seem to be any signs of life at that point. I read the directions while I waited on my pizza. It said they'd be half dead upon arrival, so I ignored them while I ate. Suddenly my boyfriend asks, "Is that one of the worms?" It was wriggling on the table, hell bent on freedom! Somehow it had gotten through the super tight knot at the top. I'm the kind of girl who'll pick up a garter snake and chase my little brother with it, but I squealed when I saw that wormy on my table! At that point I peered through the bag, which was illuminated from the other side by the window. The wormies were alive and ANGRY! They looked like zombies trying to climb the interior of the bag. They could smell my pizza, I'm sure of it. I rescued the escapee and threw them in my compost pile before they stole my pizza. They've been happily munching dead leaves and turning them into plant-nourishing poop for about two weeks now. Happy with my purchase.

First - Great Customer Service! My first worms arrived in poor condition and died in three days. I contacted Uncle Jim's and they sent me a new batch. Alive and Active (though skinny due to shipping) I have them in their "bed" and I followed all the directions (read Henry Owen;s Kindle Edition "How to Start a Worm Bin" ) I have shredded paper, damp paper, grass clippings, crushed egg shells, coffee grounds, plenty of air holes and a little food. The box is in my garage for temperature control. Still, when I checked on them before going to bed some had escaped and would have died if I did not put them back in the box. I decided to leave the light on in the garage for the night because they do not like light and may decide to stay in the box. Beginners should be advised that many things can go wrong. Your worms can die or undesirable insects may infiltrate. Too much food is no good, too little is no good. Uncle Jim has it all worked out in some Worm Farm. But your successful home worm bin will require research. Thanks for great customer service. I hope to have awesome compost for my flower garden next season!!!

I purchased 250 of these earlier this spring. It's the end of September now and they are thriving! I've already split them twice and they just keep on going. Every couple of months I'll put half of them, compost and all, into either my garden or my compost bin. I feed them food scraps and it takes them no time at all to get back to their original numbers. At this rate I imagine I'll be able to keep them going for quite a while. I keep them in a plastic tub outside and so far they have been very resilient. We've had some brutally hot days and as long as I keep them moist they just burrow down below the compost and seem fine. I've left them out in a couple rainstorms on accident and when I checked on them the box was literally full of water. I drained off the excess water, added some shredded newspaper to dry things out a bit, and they were just like new. Lately we've been having some cooler nights and that doesn't seem to impact them at all either. I think I'll bring the bin in over the winter just to be safe but otherwise they seem extremely hardy. I was worried that the smell might be too much but honestly I don't notice any smell at all other than an earthy compost/soil smell. As long as you keep the food scraps under the compost layer I haven't noticed any problems with smell, fruit flies or any other pests. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and I'm thinking my garden will be too.

I was at first worried ordering these because I have vermiphobia and I thought it would freak me out to handle them. But I really needed them for my garden so I bit the bullet and got them anyways. Upon getting the package I was actually very excited because they got to my house earlier then they were supposed to. :) Although they smell really bad and I kinda felt bad for my post person delivering it to me I'm glad I got them. Also none that I could see were dead which was good. And because they were with a clump of peat moss the worms weren't as gross for me to handle. They were kind of in like a lemon sized ball and it was easy to put them near my tree where I needed them.

I started with 250 worm a couple months ago. Look at them now!

I must admit I was REALLY concerned how many worms would be alive because I ordered them in the middle. Of summer. I tracked the package everyday hoping the worms would arrive very fast! When my package arrived at my house I was at work and I had Noone available to get the worms out of my black mailbox that was then a oven! I rushed home pulled out the worms and the bag, worms, and material inside was hot.. I immediately dumped red wiggler worms in their new home and SURPRISE!! Everyone one was alive!! I didn't see any dead worms at all. And I'm not sure if you weight or count the worms but it looks as if I got a lot more then I ordered. I would definitely recommend and reorder from uncle Jims worms again! Ty so much! https://youtu.be/hBbHAQJ0vqg
