Pros: The design is GREAT. It has large, easy to grasp handles. The blade cover is just that, a blade cover. It is ATTACHED to the slicer, which is really nice - bc you won't lose the cover in a kitchen drawer somewhere. The blades are sharp. It cuts right through the apple with ease, you don't have to be a body builder to use it! We've used it on about 9 apples since we got it (we have a toddler with an apple obsession) and it cuts down lunch prep time by at least 4 minutes or so. Definitely a MUST-BUY if you eat apples once or twice a week. Cons: It's a little bulky to put in a drawer. We have a drawer that keeps all of our wooden spoons and spatulas.. it fits in there but sometimes gets the drawer stuck. I have an easy solution to this - GET RID OF SOME STUFF. So really, it's a personal problem :) The product itself is really great!! I've attached some photos so you can see the product with the cover and without the cover. I would definitely buy again! Hopefully we won't need to. We've washed it a few times and havent seen any rust yet. I will submit an edit to this review if I ever do see rust, but as of now, and if you don't see an edit, everythings great!

It arrived on time and works perfectly! The materials are good quality, nothing is bent or broken. It's a bit larger than I expected but it works just as well on small to medium apples as it does large! It makes cutting apples a breeze. The packaging indicates that it should be hand washed so I would avoid putting it in the dish washer. The blades are sharp, but I didn't feel any pain when I put it on my palm and pressed down or when washing it so it's safe just handling (the packaging does say to use/wash with caution and not to let children use so please be mindful of that!) It does take some pressure to cut so I recommend holding it at waist length and wiggling it slightly while applying force. The lid that you flip and use to pop the apple completely through is nice, but be careful you don't pop the apples onto the floor! Wonderful little appliance to save some time and get thin slices!

This apple slicer is very cleverly designed. What sets this guy apart is the attached cover. When the cover is rotated under the sliced apple, just press down and all the slices and core are removed from the blades. Really convenient. It's apple season in the NE. We are members of CSA, Consumer Supported Agriculture, and apples of all varieties are delivered every week. Have used this slicer for over two dozen apples thus far, without fail. I am an accomplished home cook who collects all kinds of kitchen gizmos, many of which turn out to be clear failures (herb stripper comes to mind). This gizmo is somewhat of a game changer and certainly worth 10 bucks.

Pros: Ergonomic design: Large handles make it safer and easier to press down harder when slicing Good quality: well sharpened blades, quality chrome plating that hasn't rusted yet (as opposed to cheaper ones we've bought) Extra feature: The base that pops out the slices works very well and makes this better than others of the same quality Cons: The green color may not match your kitchen? This by far the best apple slicer/corer I've used to date. Not that any apple slicer is something to write home about... but the addition of the bottom tray that pops out the slices is a wonderful addition. Rather than gingerly popping out the individual pieces and risking cutting your thumbs or fingers, you just swing the bottom tray shut and "pop!" all the slice are neatly finished off. Again, not that a regular slicer isn't a great tool already, but if you have to buy a new one anyway this little addition puts this slicer over the top. The materials of this slicer are of great quality. Can little apple pieces get wedged in the cracks? Sure, but they can in any slicer I've ever used, and the fit and finish of this one is better so that becomes less likely. There are no little rust spots in the cracks after multiple dishwasher cleanings as is the case with the cheap ones we've bought.

Seriously, why has this never been invented before? It's the best thing in the history of apples! It cuts the apples perfect size for kids (and even me) and the bottom base to push the blade all the way down is a game changer. I always hated cutting apples because the last push was annoying and made slices fly everywhere. This is easy and keeps them all mostly attached. Love love love it!

Yes it works just as intended. Fabulous. I needed a apple slicer that made thin slices. And one that was sharp so I could push it down and also didn’t hurt my hands. I bought a different one last year that I couldn’t push down so I had given up and gone back to my 30 year old metal one that makes thick slices. So I was glad to find this one and relieved to find I could push it down without any more force than my old metal one needed. The flap deal to push out the slices is ingenious and works well.

This product has been amazing so far. My kids like apples, but wouldn't eat them a ton. I noticed when we went to fast food places and got apples they ate a lot of them. I noticed that the ones in the package were peeled and cut into smaller sizes, so I started looking for apple slicer that made thinner pieces (instead of the normal eight). I also was intrigued by the base on this slicer since getting the pieces out at the end can be a pain. I have fallen in love with the base- it makes getting the pieces out SO much easier. The best part is that I am having to buy x3 more apples each week. Who would have thought that a little thing like smaller slices could make such a difference. There is one thing I have noticed though- I usually peel the apple with a vegetable peeler before slicing (since I have little children without their molar teeth), but when I use this on an unpeeled apple it is much harder to push down.

I owned one of these for almost a year, when it cracked and was no longer usable. The material used is not a cheap plastic, but it's not a super tough plastic either. If you use it on a daily basis, it will break over time unless you are very gentle with it. The design is amazing, and the apple core pops right out. Most apple slicers cut the slices into huge chunks, but this one is better for small, thinner slices. Especially great for those with children! The blades are sharp, and cut the apple in a flash. But are not detrimental if you touch them while washing it. And washing it is a breeze. All other apple slicers I've used will have pieces stuck to the blades no matter how much I clean it. And I'd rather not have my hands near those blades for that long. I do love this so much, that despite it cracking, I've ordered another one. The flip bottom makes it so handy, it's worth buying another.

I am not usually one for gadgets in the kitchen, excellent knives get the job done and save on clutter. However, I succumbed to a blooger’s post about an apple slicer and selected this one after perusing Amazon reviews. I could not be more pleased! I used medium sized apples for a Thanksgiving pie and this slicer made short and perfect work of coring and slicing nine apples in a jiffy. One could not use really large apples, but select smaller to average mid sized apples and grab this slicer...it does take a little strength but the result is perfect...I didn’t have to do any extra trimming at all. One of my best finds in a long time!

Right after the first apple we cut, there was a chorus of "Mind Blown!" It's truly amazing to see an apple perfectly sliced AND cored in less than 2 seconds. For that alone, it gets 5 stars. A couple of small drawbacks should be noted. 1) it won't work on humungous apples (large Honey Crisps or Granny Smiths... you know, "Costco sized." 2) it's a pain to clean because of all of the many edges/angles. We've resorted to a quick rinse with hot water after each use (daily!) and then drop it in the dishwasher every time it's ready to run a load. By the way, one side of the edges (the side pointing down toward the apple) is quite sharp. The back said (facing you) is duller, like the back side of a steak knife) so be careful when washing or pushing the core out to empty the device (I now pull the core through so that my thumb doesn't accidentally get sliced while pushing it through the sharp-sided blades).
