I bought these for my kids to use camping and at night reading after lights out at home. We've had them for a few months and the flashlights work great! Easy for little fingers to use and night and bright. The kids love the clip on the end so they can hang the flashlight from their bunkbed. The flashlight really got tested the other night when my oldest had the stomach flu. I grabbed all the linens and threw them in the washing machine...along with the flashlight. OOPS!! I didn't realize it was in her bedding, but found it after the wash cycle had completed. It still works!!! For the price and the quality, I don't think you can get a better flashlight.

Straightforward flashlight--inexpensive, effective, and durable. I use it to look out for skunks, make sure my dog isn't eating cat poop, and keep away the shadow creatures when I go out for daily walks in the evening. It's held up so far for about 7 months without needing a battery change, even with 15 minutes of daily use. It's better than a "tactical" flashlight I bought for about the same price--the light stayed brighter for significantly longer. The carabiner at the end of the flashlight makes it handy for hooking onto a bag. You could hook it onto a belt loop too, though it is a bit big to hang off of your waist and feels kinda clunky; when I walked with it hooked on my jeans, it would bang against my thigh annoyingly so I just held onto it if I wasn't using it. Overall it's a great, everyday use flashlight--probably great for emergencies too as it's water-resistant, floats, and is an easy-to-spot yellow color.

We have four of these LED lights in different rooms of our home. Ordered them a few years ago and they are still going strong on the batteries that came with the flashlight. I ordered two more to put in two rooms upstairs, because they are such reliable lights, so bright too. We have a lot of power outages, so I like to have these LED flashlights close at hand in some of our rooms. We used to get regular flashlights, only used them once in awhile. When we'd need them, they would be so dim we could hardly see. I'm so thankful I found these Dorcy LED flashlights. They never fail us when we need them, I use them around the house a lot, not only for power outage, but so many other things. If I drop something on the floor and can't find it, my Dorcy light is there to help me find it. I can't say enough good things about this flashlight.

You might want to just save yourself some time and trouble and order several. This is the neatest flashlight ever- bright, long-range beam, easy to grip, comfy to hold, lightweight- with its bright color easy to find in low-light conditions. I take it to walk my dog and cats in the park nearby (it's dark, keeps everyone together). When I take my dog to other parks after dark, I attach it to my keyring, carry my keys that way. It's indispensable. I found myself continually going and getting it from the hook in the kitchen, for use in the garage, the back yard, the front yard, the car, everywhere, so I'm going to order several and save myself extra steps. This little guy has already taken a good pounding, been dropped on concrete, left outside in the rain, with no ill effects whatsoever, still looks new (I can't tell you the scores of flashlights I've owned over the years, even supposedly heavy-duty ones, that gave up the ghost if you so much as looked at them wrong). Plus everyone who sees it or uses it wants one, so I'm stocking up for Christmas (they come with batteries and in different colors, though the price varies by color). GREAT little flashlight! Update 4/15/15: Just replaced the batteries, after using daily all this time (it had dimmed by about 50%)- awesome.

I originally purchased this flashlight 2/10/2015 and I liked it so much I bought a few as presents. The battery life is fantastic and I am still using the original batteries (3xAA). They are cheaper carbon zinc batteries which normally have a lower shelf life too. I have dropped it in water and used it during storms with no issues to report, and it actually floats like they claim. I like the small size and clip for use when camping. The light is not adjustable and the spread is a wide area. Don't expect this to go long distances or work as a spotlight. They claim it will be effective over 31 meters, but I'd say it would be more like 30-35 feet. I mostly use it around the house, but it worked great while camping too. Best part is that it only cost $7. Product: Dorcy 41-2513 purchased from Amazon

The best, longest lasting, water resistant, most durable, cheap flashlight available. I have bought tons of flashlights and they always start flickering and then don't work even when you replace the batteries, but NOT these. These just keep working and working. We bought the pink ones for our kids to learn about light and shadows, but then they just kept on working, and working, and working for freaking ever and they were so cheap. So...I bought some for myself, then I bought one for my wife and then of course I needed one in the truck, and the the trailer, and the emergency kit etc.

I really like that these are AA instead of AAA. You can easily find AA rechargeables that are 2300mAh, which is 3+ times the capacity of AAAs. Since these flashlights are not super eye-piercingly bright (55 lumens I think), the batteries will last a lot longer than with the super bright AAA flashlights. We got these for my elderly mother to use around the house. They are big, colorful, and made of light plastic. If you have any kind of outdoor use in mind, these are probably the opposite of the attributes you're looking for. But these are great for having around the house where they are easier to find in the dark (as opposed to tiny AAA black aluminum flashlights which she was constantly losing). They would also be great for kids to use, I guess. I wouldn't expect them to take much abuse, but they are also only a few dollars and seem pretty sturdy. We got 1, and liked it enough to get 3 more (the different colors are slightly different prices, but seem identical otherwise).

Nice inexpensive light. Works well indoors and for puttering around in the yard or shed. The light emitted does not have much throw to it though, a spotlight this is not, maybe 15 yards at best, and that is diffused light only. But considering the price and stated power output Id say it works quite well. Where this thing "shines" is durability. It is tough and waterproof. It also does indeed float. One of the first things I did with this was turn it on and tie a sting to it (so it wouldn't float away) and throw it in the stream near my house. This is also incidentally how I discovered its durability as I hit a tree with it on the first toss. I thought it had broken because the light went out when it hit the tree, but it must have just hit the switch as it turned back on when i clicked it. I then tossed it in the water and let it float for a bit. No problems, it just bobble there for a while and stayed lit. Afterward I opened it up and it was completely dry inside. Thumbs up to this little light. Great value!

I don't know what it is with flashlights today. They're tactical, metal, have multi-select switches, S.O.S. modes, strobe modes are super bright or not so bright and the batteries don't last that long. Okay, sure, I have my selection of these lights to play with and use but they are battery-eaters or require recharging. They're not that dependable for length of use or storage. Sure, I can illuminate something a quarter mile away or light up a room like it's sunrise but how often do I need to do that? I find that metal housed lights have a tendency to cause the batteries to leak (ahem...Mag Light) so I spend $30-$40 bucks on a light that I can't keep the batteries in while it's in the car. Or you go to look for something and have to hit the tail switch several times to cycle through all the modes so you can just get a basic light. I shouldn't have to teach anyone how to work a flashlight and I shouldn't have to worry about the light in my wife's vehicle going bad or dead. Or, if you go get a simple cheapie to keep tossed in a drawer, it's still 1980's tech and you can't see 5' in front of you. So I got these. Simplistic white LED, a basic on/off switch where it should be, rugged enough to toss in a glove box and the with low-drain LED bulbs, no worry of dead batteries after 30 minutes. They are also inexpensive without being cheap. These are great for walking around the house at night. I can easily see the second story of my house, my AC units or whatever else I need to look at. I hand it to my Grandkids and they instantly know how to use it. It's either on or it's off. Simple. It's a cone-spot pattern so if focuses the light on your project when your checking your breakers or widens out to about a 6' diameter from across two rooms in the house. Outside you probably get about 25' of usable light before the pattern widens out too much. This makes it great for changing a tire at night or walking though those anti light-pollution fixtures that resorts use these days. This light is not for you if you need to carry the sun in the palm of your hand or want a self-protection device but if your just need simple, long-lasting usable light for everyday tasks, get it.

I now have a number of these. They are a comfortable size, The beam is directive, but not a pencil beam so you don't trip over things that you can't see while being blinded by a reflections from small spot. They are at least highly water resistant, I have used them in rain. The carabiner end is occasionally handy. They last a long time with a set of batteries compared to typical "tactical" lights. They don't have the tactical "edge" to cut through things in your glove compartment or your clothing, ....in fact the front edge is rubber. They are brightly colored so you can find one when one is needed, They hold up well in vehicles. Best of all, they are "on", or "off" so you don't have to push a button 3 to 6 times to get past a lot of useless "features" or an annoying flasher to simply light an area. They also work well with rechargeable or alkaline cells. I have had no failures out of 10 flashlights .... some in service over 5 years now....although you DO have to watch alkaline cells so they don't corrode the battery holder.... pretty decent reliability....
