Small for practical purposes but functions well within the limitations; great consumer service
It is kinda small. Cannot put a 8" square pyrex baking container - even if the handles placed along the longer side. So, you need 7" circle or smaller baking pan to use with this. Would fit 4 bread pieces - Toaster function works well. Would help to run a dummy run... just a basic technique to avoid burnt toasts from 2nd round onward. It is functional and does things as expected. Frozen mozzarella sticks came out well. I didn't know to consider this as a toaster oven, as labeled (duh!) and made a few mistakes thinking this as a conventional oven. Not anymore. 1/25/16 Update: I am upping the stars to five (from 3) purely for the fantastic consumer service from Spectrum Brands. For the first time, ever, they reached out to address my concern... for a 3* rating (see comments section). In my experience nobody has done this. I have seen seller trying to solve an issue when the rating is 1* or sometimes 2* but never a 3*. Prompt emails and phone calls followed to ensure that my concern was addressed to my complete satisfaction. Big thumbs up!

I would buy it again if I have a need for a second one
Ignore all those negative reviews and pictures posted. I've had this toaster oven for four years now and going on five and I could not be any more happier with it. Most of the negative reviews are coming from people who are unaware of what they bought. It is a mini oven. If you do not know how to use an oven then this is not for you, but if you're a average person then this is for you no doubt. Just keep in mind it's a mini oven that you need to get used to using it. I don't follow the exact cocking instructions for the food I'm heating/making , because it's a mini oven it might need to increase or decrease either the time, heat, or maybe both. Again this is mini oven. If you know what that is then buy it, otherwise don't post a negative review for a great product that's being used by a family of five for the past four years now.

I baked a small casserole very easily and successfully
Had and used this item for more than 1 month and am gratified that it meets well and sometime exceeds my needs. I would insert a product link but have never been successful in finding or posting such. This toaster/oven replaces a BX&D toaster oven I inherited and it is about 12 - 15 years old....still works but has weakened so I replaced it. My new unit toasts evenly on BOTH sides with the timer; the curved interior back wall provides just enough extra room. I baked a small casserole very easily and successfully. OH, the price at less than $30.00-US is a welcomed feature/gift as well. Trust B&D and you will be as happy as I.

Great Toaster Oven for the money
Great toaster over. When I moved to my new apartment I needed to get a toaster oven. I saw this one in a store and it looked good quality so I checked if it was on amazon and it was cheaper there. I have been using it for about 8 months now with no problems at all. I use it almost every day for something whether it be toast or heating up a meal. I love not having to heat up the whole oven for 2 slices of pizza or a few pieces of chicken. It says 4 slices of toast but I usually put more in there with no problem. I can fit around 3 slices of pizza with a little overlap and it heats them just fine. The broil setting is probably my favorite because I can throw whatever in there and make it crispy. French fries, chicken, anything fried, all gets back to when it was originally made. Overall I highly recommend getting this toaster oven if you are searching for one.

Five Stars
Just what I wanted. Thank you. Someone sent me a question about the drip pan so I'll comment here. The DRIP pan slides on runners on either side of the BOTTOM of the wire shelf. Make sure you put the wire shelf in RIGHTSIDE UP or the drip pan runners will be on top instead of underneath. the drip pan DOES NOT FIT UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM HEATING ELEMENT. You will break it if you try too hard. It does NOT SIT ON the heating element--that would burn the drippings. The appliance is designed well ( Black & Decker has historically good designers) but the directions suck. & they should use my photos.

This one's a keeper.
This is the second Black & Decker Toaster Oven I have bought. The first one lasted me years and got lost in a move and we liked it so much we ordered another. It has not disappointed us. This one, however, I have treated a bit differently. The first one was used mostly for toast, bagels, and roasting green chiles. For this toaster, I had a bigger agenda. I wanted to see how well it could broil and bake and if it would be good for my tween granddaughter to use safely. We know oven baked potatoes taste better than microwaved ones but could we bake good ones in a toaster oven? We washed and pierced 6 potatoes as the instructions in the booklet told us set the temperature/time suggested and the potatoes were perfect. Frozen pizza worked just as well. We make our own french fries in the oven so we tried white and sweet potato fries. It only makes enough for 2-3 people at a time. We arranged them in the bake pan and turned them frequently and they also cooked well. I have not used the toaster oven for meats except to warm something up. I still roast all my poblanos, jalapenos, and Anaheims in this toaster. The only thing I suggest is: if you are letting children use it, train them that like any other appliance, they have to be mindful. Toaster ovens get hot to the touch. After the safety mini lessons and keeping a few potholders available (not too close), my granddaughter and her friends can make mini meals with confidence. Thank you, Black & Decker. for a good product.

Fantastic toaster oven! Nice and basic...exactly what we needed.
For the price, how can you go wrong? This toaster oven is a great, compact size, and completely suitable for your morning toast or to heat up a couple slices of pizza. Its compact nature fits it snug on the countertop, and it doesn't sit so deep as to ruin the use of the space in front of it. Its two elements heat up quickly, and - after measuring the temperature control with a couple different oven thermometers - I'm surprised that it can, in fact, hold steady temperature in baking-mode. It is cleanly designed, simple to use, and will hopefully outlast the last one I had. The rack can also be flipped over and inserted at a lower height, making room for loftier items. All-in-all, a great product so far.

5 month review. Excellent little toaster oven.
This toaster had so many negative reviews I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy one or not. Either it arrived broken, broke down after using it, caught on fire, glass door shattered, burned babies, set the cat's tail on fire, etc. I thought man how could they release a fire hazard like this? After all it's a Black & Decker right? So I did a couple of weeks of thorough research and discovered that everyone seemed to have similar complaints regardless of brand, so I said oh screw it, just buy it and find out for yourself. I'm glad I did. I've owned this toaster oven for 5 months now. It arrived in perfect condition with everything intact. I use it about one to two times a week just for normal stuff like reheating pizza, making morning bagels, etc and it's performed flawlessly. This is a great and compact little toaster, and for the price it's awesome! ***Feb 2019 UPDATE. The little toaster is still going strong! Zero issues. Great buy!***

Great price and gets the job done
I bought this due to price, size and color. I'm keeping it and using it on my counter because it heats up quickly unlike several other toaster ovens costing much more that I've owned did not, easy to remove and clean crumb tray that slides right out, and reasonably efficient controls. Easy to find the exact spot to set for the color toast I like. No, there's nothing automatic about this. You really do have to check the dials and set them but is that really so hard? Of course not. The huge $125 one I was given several years ago lasted just two days on the counter. It was way too big for my small space for it, took very long time to make a piece of toast, and just wasn't practical so was returned. For a toaster oven that will make cheese toast, breakfast toast, warm up and crisp a croissant AND is relatively inexpensive, this is the one.

Perfect choice for a $30 oven
After a lot of review reading here and on other sites, I decided to replace our old, crusty B&D oven with this one. I wasn't looking for convection or anything special - it just needed to perform toasting and like baking functions. Well, it actually performs better than I expected for $30. It heats/toasts extremely fast which is good for a couple of reasons: 1) you really should not leave a toaster oven unattended, and the quick toasting cycle means I don't walk away (if I do, things will be burnt), 2) it takes a lot less time, energy, etc.. vs. our full size oven (as expected). I was expecting it to work "good enough", but in reality, I am happily surprised it works this well for a cheap unit. The only complaint I have is that somehow crumbs get under the crumb tray. I assume it's because the back of the tray doesn't have any lip or curvature to keep crumbs from sliding off when you pull it out. Not a big deal. The unit is so light that I just unplug it and shake it over the sink once in a while. If this unit lasts a couple of years, I wouldn't mind replacing it for another $30 unit. It doesn't have any fancy features (tray doesn't pull out with the door, etc), but i didn't need anything like that - I was trying to keep it cheap as I tend to replace these every 5-7 years (they become very hard to clean over time unless you are really on it). I won't comment on the fact that it gets hot - of course it does. Just make sure you only ever touch the handle and pay attention to the safety rules. I just noticed it's now listed for $80 - I would not say it's a good value at that price. For $30 - yes!
