I am a military combat veteran, so I have a lot of experiance with night vision. This is a Gen 1 analog low light device with a classic green display as you would see in the military. For a Gen 1 this is an outstanding buy. Most Gen 1 night visions will have a small spot or 2 in them which is natural, and so did mine. Mine was located in the outter right portion of the monical and is hardly even noticable. The clarity is way beyond what I could have expected out of older technology like this. With two focal lenses, one in the front and rear, you can dial in for a very crisp picture. The field of view is a little narrow, but it made clear that it would be being a monocular. I am in a suburban area with a lot of ambient light bouncing off of the atmosphere and I can still see tons of stars with this product. I also like the fact that it takes AAx2 batteries so hunting for power is not a problem. Additionally, it has an infrared light that you can turn on and off if you wish. The housing is also fairly good and feels natural in my hand. If you are wondering which night vision to purchase, stop looking and start buying this before it sells out.

Waaay more awesome than i thought It was going to be.. bought this monocular for my dad for Christmas so he can watch the animals in the bordering woods for fun at night. We can easily see 100 meters in pitch dark night. Paired with a stronger IR flashlight (that I also bought), you can easily see 400+ meters in pitch dark. You can see so well you’d think the sun was out.. it’s crazy. Worth the price for someone who enjoys the outdoors

i have owned a few night vision monoculars in my security business and have always stayed with the mid to lower range products because of the abuse they endure in the field. My first impression of this Firefield is quite good.. I tried it in about a 25 acre field and I was amazed at the clarity and range. I can really appreciate the 5 Power. How it with stands my abuse has not been proven, but I do recommend this lower end product right now.

First I would like to point out the delivery for this item for me was early which is always nice. Second I bought it as a Christmas gift (no relevance just as context) and opened it up and tested it to make sure it works. Not only does it work I had a clear view, with about as much detail as you’re going to get at night, it is vary easy to use. I was a little worried about some of 1 star reviews, but after taking a chance with this monocular I can’t help but feel like the people who had bad experiences were not taking care of theirs.

I use these mainly to watch wildlife. This is my third set of gen one nightvision over a 20 year span and all of the ones I owned worked perfectly for my intended use. All have been very similar in light amplification and image quality. All have had a fairly narrow field of view, You need to focus the front lens first then the rear and if you use an external IP flashlight you can extend the range greatly. None of the gen 1 night vision is going to give you a perfect picture but you can definitely spot a deer, coyotes, people, etc with them. The field I typically spot in is 600 feet deep and these work great.

Purchased a similar Yukon model in 2013 on sale for $159. This model is an updated version. Keeping in mind the limitations of Gen I Night Vision with a built in IR illuminator, this unit is outstanding! Purchased "Used as New" from Amason for less than $80! The box was dented but never opened! Worked fine first try. Two AA instead of CR 123 batteries is a plus. The picture is a bit less grainy than the Yukon, which still performs well. I purchased a more powerful, hand-held, IR illuminator for those cloudy nights with no moon or starlight. The built-in IR is excellent for "big back yard" ranges. It stays aligned wth the lens. Remember to focus the front lens, then fine tune with the rear lens. When you extend or reduce the viewing range, adjust the front lens, then fine tune the rear again. Soon, you won't have to re-focus much. I picked an average range and used "White-out" to mark the body and the front focus ring with two aligned dots. That way and I always have a good start focus. The front ring is easy to turn when taking the unit out of the case or when carrying it. So marking the body gets you started quicker. I think most low ratings are a result of too high expectations or lack of reading the well written instructions. For example, after turning the unit off, the tube retains energy and will slowly dim. That's normal! Add this and you double the range: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07LGLB58X?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Nice Gen 1 night vision monocular for the money. Saw some negative reviews about the focusing of this device and thought mine had the same issue as I couldn’t get it to focus at first. When I twisted the objective lens and the eyepiece, it actually started unscrewing the whole lens apparatus. Turns out that the focusers were so torqued down from the factory and I just had to break those seals on both the eyepiece and objective lens. Once I did that, the focusing worked great. IR works well out to about 25 yards or so. For the money, very happy with this.

It's the first night vision unit that I've owned and it works as described. You have to remember that it has two focus methods; the end one for general clarity and eye one for fine tuning. Once you master this it's amazing. The infra-red light is equally incredible. Well worth the price. DCR

I quite enjoy this monocular. It sees quite well at night, especially during a full moon, however a full moon is not essential to this working. The max range that I've seen in pitch black is about 200 meters. Under a full moon's light, it's much further than that. It is a Gen 1 NVD, so it's not the clearest visual, but is well worth the price. The IR light doesn't extend very far for me, even in a pitch black room, so I'm going to purchase an IR flashlight one of these days. It's a 3x magnification, but I do wish it were a 1x. It would just suit my uses better if it were a 1x, but this is not a breaking point, as there are times when it is necessary. It has a threaded tripod mount on the underside, so you can attach it to whatever you may desire with that same thread. I've attached some photos of when I used it at my beach, I was trying to watch the sea turtles hatch, but it wasn't their night. The city lights in the distant are highly visible, of course. The people in the photo were well over 150 meters. And the moon reflected light off the waves quite nicely. If it wasn't for the moonlight though, probably wouldn't have been able to see the water as easily. Overall, great purchase.

For the low price of this product this is an exceptional gen 1 NVD. Had a half moon and I could easily see out on my back farm 400 yards and identify coyotes and deer. I paired it with a Streamlight XTAC IR floodlight flashlight and this NVD became even more impressive and crisp. Picture is out the front of the house with very little ambient light and no IR. Much clearer in person than the photo form my LG phone looking down the tube. That house is 150 yards away.
