Positive Feedback: + Thick and warm unlike many other hoodies out on the market. + Rain defender is a nice so the hoodie does not get soaked. + Protects me from the elements better than the cheaper hoodies I've owned. + Has a smaller 'kangaroo' front right pocket inside the larger pocket that is handy for carrying keys (or in my case a utility knife). + Pockets are durable enough for me to carry loose utility blades, Allen wrenches, and all sorts of other small hand tools for my job. Neutral Feedback: ~ Sizing does run a tad bit large. I like medium sized hoodies because of the snug fit, but the Carhartt medium is more along the lines of a large. I expected this from other reviews so it was my educated decision to get the medium anyways. Negative Feedback: - Zipper does not have a smooth sliding action, but seems durable and not much of an issue in the long run. My Experience thus far: I've needed a hoodie that was thicker and more durable so that I can survive my factory job in the winter. This hoodie has taken a beating at my job where I crawl around machinery that is sharp, dirty, and sometimes very hot (250 - 300 degrees). It carries my small tools, screws and any other small items with out them falling out of my pockets. It is also very warm in the cold weather, one of the warmest hoodies I own. I will be definitely considering Carhartt for my next jacket/hoodie purchase, and you should too if you want a durable and warm hoodie.

I’m a female, 5’ 10” with a long torso and long arms. I can never find hoodies that seem to fit right, especially once they’re washed and dried (I stick my arms out and the sleeves are about 3 inches above my wrist). Talk about annoying!!! I searched and searched all over town to see if I could find someone locally that sold Large Tall Carhartt hoodies and of course, no luck. I can say that once washed and dried, the shrinkage was little to none, and the quality is amazing. It is very heavy, so it’s definitely a fall or winter hoodie only. The tall size is going to be my go-to now though because clearly Carhartt knows what they’re doing!

Well, I sure subjected this to a rain test. Got caught in the proverbial torrential downpour. Several times. When I received this "hoodie" I had my doubts. It is a solid Carhartt, with all the finery Carhartt is famous for and why I bought this anyway. But, it seemed like a heavy cotton jacket where one would wonder if it would shed a single drop of water say nothing about a 3 inch downfall over one hour. It did. Water ran off and I stayed dry. The elastic bands around the end of the sleeves got damp. Otherwise everything was dry. The fit is not exact. This is meant to be layered and it fits very well for that purpose. I am 6' and 200lbs. The large fits well over a light vest. I expect many years of hard use out of this jacket.

LOVE this sweatshirt! I'm a female that saw this on a male friend and LOVED the collar and hood feature--HAD to have it It's comfy and a nice rugged thick material--also water repellant. Even has an additional internal pocket in the front pouch pocket--great for a cell phone or lighter! I bought it in black. I like my sweatshirts a little baggy with room to shrink--I got a Medium. I'm 5'6'', 150lb--hope this review helps!

This is a great hoodie. It's thick and carhartt quality. I wear it out in 32 degree weather, any colder and I move to a coat. Have worn it in the rain and stayed dry. I was worried it would feel weird becuase if the rain gaued but you cant tell its on it after a wash or two. I'm 5'10, 230lbs, athletic build, and wear the large.

I now have a new favorite sweatshirt. I would recommend reading the reviews, and trying on some Carhartt products before purchasing online. I am 5' 11", and 210 lbs. I usually wear an XL. After trying on similar Carhartt products and reading the reviews, I purchased a Large-Tall and am very happy with the fit. Reason for sizing choice: I do not like sleeves that ride up the arm when you either stretch out or raise over your head. This shirt does not do that. Having the zipper not only looks good, but makes it easier to put on and take off. The reviews I read stated they run a size bigger. Also that getting a Tall size makes up in length in the sleeve and waist, that you loose by having a smaller size than normal. As I usually order an XL, this Large-Tall is a perfect fit. Actually fits in length better than normal XL I get. There appears to be no shrinking after washing and the rain defender is perfect for short exposures or light rain. It IS NOT a rain jacket.

This is hands-down my favorite sweatshirt, no competition. Carhartt is a brand that needs little enough help selling itself, but this sweatshirt is made so unbelievably well, I had to write a quick review. The Rain-Defender material itself is the perfect sweatshirt material. It is heavy, breathable and warm without feeling smothering. I have worn this sweatshirt in everything from cool autumn weather to brisk early-winter days fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and it has kept me comfortable and dry. As a bigger guy (6', 210lbs) a LARGE size leaves plenty of room for layering as well. My favorite aspect of this sweatshirt is easily the construction. Including a quarter-zip at the neck is pure genius. I have a larger head and sensitive skin at my neck, which makes the construction of many hoodies wanting for me. Either pulling them on is a struggle that hurts my ears, or the tight neck will start to irritate and raise bumps on my neck. This simple zip solves both of those problems and still gives you the option to tighten things up when the breeze is blowing. Add in a handy little pocket on the inside of the larger, kangaroo pouch, perfect for stashing finer items like a lighter or sunglasses, and this sweatshirt RULES! Side note: I'm no fashion guru, but the way this garment is cut is slimming also. The extra seam across the chest gives this sweatshirt a distinct V-shape that most sweatshirts lack. There is literally nothing to dislike about this sweatshirt, except for the poor choice of colors. Can we get a green please, Carhartt?

I usually wear a large in most brands but have found in past purchases (and returns) that a Carhartt large is too barrel like in the belly/waist (I have a 33" waist and no belly). Tried a medium this go around and it fits great. Love this thing. Bought it for work but since it fits so good, it was promoted to my casual wear. Arms are a good length as well. My usually problem with mediums is they are too short in total length and arms. Not the case here. Probably going to buy a few more for work wear with my overalls.

Well, I'm just a girl who wants durability and comfort. Today was my lucky day because I got my own rain defender! It fits like a charm and works as expected! There was a light rain which made it perfect for a test run. Beaded really well and I didn't get soaked or bogged down. Guess I'd call myself average full figure? Size 16, 5'5... I got a large and this fit perfectly! Washed it and no change in shape or comfort. I do landscaping work so this is perfect for cooler weather and the potential light rain. It's warm, stylish and extremely functional. The quarter zip is what sold me... Silly I know but love the versatility. Also, the kangaroo pouch is nice but a little irritating because my hand automatically goes into it (btw, it's on the right side) and not the full pocket! Other than that, I'm sold and will probably buy another for myself and another as a gift....If I can bear to part with it! 🤣

Bought this for my boyfriend who works outside on pipelines. Material has a different feel, but it does protect from the rain! The outside material almost feels like it has a coating. The inside is super soft! It holds up in the wash great. He doesn’t wash his clothes in any special way like I do with mine and the material feels the same. He always insists on light colored hoodies, but he works outside so it gets dirty fast. All stains came out in the wash! He wears extra large and it fit well, just loose enough to wear stuff underneath and still have room to move. He loves the zipper on the neck line, that way it doesn’t choke you like most hoodies do. Will be buying him other colors for christmas!
