Here's how you make these last...
I've just ordered, and received, the third one of these. My first two went the same way everyone else's did - the charging port breaks. You can wiggle the cable around and get it to charge sometimes, but for the most part, once it's broken, you throw it away. Why did I buy a second, and now a third? Because this thing is super comfortable for my big mitts, and extra battery life is nothing to sneeze at. This one, I strongly suspect is not going to have that problem - here's what I did. 1. Take it apart (don't miss the screw under the label in the middle on the bottom of the back!). It's going to void your warranty. Let it go. 2. Grab a hot glue gun, and warm it up. 3. Locate the USB connector, and absolutely gob over the back end of it with glue. This will afford some protection to cables being plugged in and out. Make sure not to get any glue inside the connector, where the cable plugs in. 4. Put the unit back together. Don't skimp on the screws, put them all back, you want it nice and snug. You could stop there, and likely get longer life out of it, but I like to push things, so I went a bit further... 5. Order a set of these magnetic breakaway USB cables: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BXB6W4V 6. Ring the connector port with hot glue (not too much this time), again making sure not to get any inside. 7. Plug the USB connector end of one of those cables into the port while the glue is still wet, and seat it nice and firmly. Granted, you'll only be able to charge with the breakaway cable, but that link I put up there has a set of 3. When all is said and done, you should now have a battery grip that will charge as long as you own it. Good luck!

Best grip for the SLIM PS VITA AND IT IS A SECOND BATTERY FOR YOUR VITA!
In my opinion this is the best grip for the PS VITA SLIM AKA MODEL 2000 EVER! It is comfortable and makes playing the vita a lot easier on your hands. It will definitely keep your hands from falling asleep. If you use your vita a lot do yourself a favor and get this. I had never bought a grip before and I am glad I waited to get this because I will never buy another one again. Here are a few things to remember when purchasing and a few pics to help you out. I cant recomend this any higher it is a 10/10! KEEP IN MIND: THIS DOES NOT FIT THE OLD VITA DOES NOT COME WITH A MICRO USB THAT YOU NEED TO CHARGE IT IT IS EASY TO PUT THE VITA IN THE GRIP AND FITS PERFECTLY YOU NEED TO FULLY CHARGE IT WHEN YOU FIRST GET IT BEFORE USING YOUR VITA WITH IT. TAKES A FEW HOURS YOU CAN CHARGE IT WITH YOUR VITA CONNECTED YOU CAN USE ANY MICRO USB TO CHARGE IT YOU CAN USE THE FRONT AND BACK TOUCHSCREENS AND ALL BUTTONS WITH THE GRIP ATTACHED JUST AS EASILY WITHOUT IT ATTACHED YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE GRIP OFF ONLY TO CHANGE CARTIDGES AND OR MEMORY CARDS Hope this helps!

Do buy these. 10/10.
10/10. Highly recommend to anyone who has issues playing the Vita cause of the lack of grip. Very comfortable for anyone with giants hands like myself. Great grip and feel. Doesn't feel overly cheap even though it is all plastic. Sturdy. No plastic creaking. Amazing battery life. Easily over 20 hours or more of play time on a full charge. I've gotten as much as 30 hours of play time before the handles battery ran dry and it started to use the Vita battery. The handle batteries do take ages to charge but that is what gives you the incredible play time. Best charged overnight or while at work. I've seen other reviews complaining about the solder coming loose on the charging port from using the Vita while charging. This could be an issue. I have not encountered it in the year I've owned these, though as I do not play my Vita while charging it. I don't use anything electronic while charging it as it is bad for any device and the charge port. So like I said before, best charged while sleeping overnight or at work. It leaves all the ports on the Vita open but the game slot and the sd slot. If you remove your game or sd card often, it will get in the way but to release the handles, there is a simple lever on the bottom with an unlock/lock symbol. Just slide it unlocked, the bottom cradle with the mini usb slides down and the Vita is free. And every time I do this, the Vita feels small and fragile. The handles give it a feeling of girth and safety. Your thumbs will will tend to cover the speakers as you play anything that requires full use of the d-pad and buttons. The analog sticks leave the speakers clear though. Rear camera and touch pad left open as well. They work fine.

You'll Never Want to Play the Vita Without It
This thing is really neat and feels great to the touch - it feels like a rubber surface but the structure is very rigid. I got this because no matter what handheld I play - after even about 15 mins. of use my pinky fingers go numb and start to tingle and I always have to adjust my grip, pause, shake out my hands to get the blood flowing and resume. I thought this Power Grip would alleviate that - and it does - but it doesn't eliminate it. The ergonomics of using this with a Vita are better than not using it - I dont have big hands but I think the grip would've been more comfortable if the handles were wider apart - but the thing would've been pretty big if that were the case. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. The added power pack was always an afterthought/bonus for me since I got it for ergonomics - but its a huge benefit. The quality of materials used for this thing is really top notch - I should've bought this the same day I got the Vita. You own a Vita - which is why you're looking at this product's page - so do yourself a favor and enhance your Vita gaming experience and treat yourself to this awesome product.

no issues, takes a few charge cycles before light will turn green, just be gentle with charging port
This thing works great. I was hesitant after reading reviews about broken charging port and battery not charging but it works great and is super comfortable in my hands during long play sessions. Very ergonomic. A couple points: 1) As another reviewer pointed out it does take a few charging cycles before the charging light will turn green. I think it took 4 charging cycles on mine. 2) A LOT of people issued warnings about the charging port breaking. After receiving the product and looking at the port I can see how this might happen. However, I have simply just been extremely gently with mine and am always very careful when plugging in the charging and very careful when removing it and it's doing just fine. In the future I might take the product apart and put some epoxy on the charge port to further reinforce it but I have had no issues. Very pleased with product. I have yet to run out of batteries. I can play for countless hours and multiple days on a fully charged unit. Highly recommend.

No more handcramps! And the extra battery life isn't half-bad either.
I wasn't too sure about the Nyko Power Grip for the PS Vita 2000, but after using it for 100+ hours, I gotta say I'm quite happy with it. The battery doesn't really add any noticeable weight compared to the PS Vita 1000 grip, and the handles are more comfortable than the previous one. The Vita snaps into place pretty easily (though you have to be a bit careful to make sure the power plug lines up correctly), and once in it is very secure. I haven't had it pop out or dislodge once. The battery itself is a bit odd, in that it takes forever to charge. I thought mine was broken when I first go it, since it seriously took like 12 hours to charge (it is faster now, but still kinda slow). But once charged, it works well enough. Adds at least a couple hours to my Vita's battery's life, enough that I haven't run out of batteries while playing since I got it. Pushing the battery life from ~4 to 6-7 turns out to be a huge deal, since now it lasts as long as my more intense play sessions. Most importantly though, it has almost entirely removed the hand cramps I used to get from playing games after 3-4 hours, which is what I was looking for from this product. The fact that it adds 2-3 hours of battery life is ultimately just a very cool perk for me, so I don't mind the slow charging. Highly recommended for Vita power-users (you know who you are)!

Great controller grip for your PS Vita, although mine died in less than 3 weeks.
Well, looks like I got a faulty one after all. Three weeks later and it no longer charges. And I baby my devices too. Rather than wait for a new one or fix it, I decided to get the same style grip case and just forgo the charging aspects of the Nyko version. I'll just use my battery back up that I use for my tablet and phone. No biggie. Excellent controller grip. It places your hands in just the right spot, for hours of gaming with no stress or fatigue. The best feature is the extra batteries located between the handles. This gives you more than double the playtime. Especially good for marathon gaming sessions. I like the way it locks into the charging port, and charges both the unit and the spare batteries. The only flaw I see is that it covers the cartridge slot for games. Since 95% of my games are digital this is not an issue for me.

Perfect accessory for newer "slim" PSVita!
Surprisingly solid build materials and construction. Super-comfortable ergonomics (soft rubbery texture, and fits my large hands perfectly). Doubles as an external battery pack -- bonus! Uses the charger you already have -- smart! The way it attaches/detaches doesn't block any jacks/ports, locks sturdily in place, and doesn't risk scratching the Vita or breaking the grip. Nyko used to make awful gimmicky plastic accessories for older Gameboys, so I'm truly surprised and impressed by this product. One of the "most helpful" reviews claims the grip battery will charge before the Vita, which is exactly wrong. The Vita will charge first, then the battery -- it even says that right in the instruction manual. I wish reviewers would get their facts right! I'll also second what another reviewer said: get yourself this soft-shell case (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002VPE1QG/ref=yo_ii_img) because the Vita+grip together fits perfectly. That way you don't have to detach the grip from the Vita every time you want to put it in the case. This case also has plenty of room/pockets for storing earbuds, games, memory chips, and charger/cables.

Nyko Power Grip for PSVita Slim
If you own a PS Vita Slim, this is something that you absolutely must buy! I love this Power Grip. Not only is this product sturdy, well made, and comfortable but it has an anti-slip matte black finish and the power bank aspect of it works flawlessly as well. This product has made it so I can play my games for a longer duration of time without my hands hurting and without having to plug my vita in. I will tell you, it does take some time to charge because it works in conjunction with your vita battery, basically as your vita battery starts to loose juice during operation the power grip charges it back up to full. I would purchase this product again even if it was just a grip, to me the battery bank is a bonus, that's how comfortable it is. I will tell you that once you place your vita into the grip, it locks securely in place and it never feels loose or like it is going to fall out. If I had one complaint, it would be that the Game Cartridge port is covered by the top of the grip, so in order to change games, you do have to take it out of the grip -- which honestly takes about 5 seconds and isn't a big deal to me personally.

Highly Recommend
It's subjective whether or not the Vita is a comfortable gaming system. It is a portable gaming device after all. I would compare the Nyko Power Grip to transforming the Vita into something similar to the Nintendo Wii U game pad. Obviously, adding this device to the Vita makes it a lot bigger overall. However, if you're like me and use the Vita mainly at home for remote play and for carrying around the house than it is not an issue. I find it to be very comfortable. As others have said, the Nyko Grip feels "cloth like" or similar to velvet. I personally really like how the texture feels on the grip. I have maybe a little bit bigger than average hands, and I have no problems reaching the back buttons. In the way that might work for you, that could deter you from purchasing this product. This product to me does make the Vita feel much more like a regular controller (I would say the analog sticks are the main thing that hold it back, from feeling like a regular controller). The extra battery life is just an added bonus with this product, the grip to me is why I purchased it. I know my wife preferred the grip - as she saw the Vita by itself to be not the most comfortable to hold for long gaming sessions. I didn't wait long to purchase this grip after buying my Vita (mostly for home use and remote play). I know for me, this is a must-have Vita accessory and it seems like a product Sony could make money on if they made it themselves. Sony is at least making some games like Fallout 4 have a better button layout (not using the back buttons), making this accessory even more useful. Pros: Comfortable Overall Material feels good in the hands (velvet or cloth like) Shape of the Grip is good Easy to take on and off (from my perspective) Vita is secure while attached to the device Cons: Price (I personally think its worth $30, some may think that is high). Not as portable obviously Won't work with any Vita power charging stand (some people may have this accessory that they like to use) Highly Recommend, if you want to use the Vita for remote play at home or just make the Vita more comfortable. I would compare it to the Wii U game pad, making it more like a controller.
