This is a great little 4 track for your money. I started off with a 424 MKIII cassette 4 track back in the day and loved it. This is just as easy, if not easier, to use. Sound quality of the internal mics is impressive. I gave the manual a quick once over and within the hour was recording and editing tracks without any problems. Headphones are decent considering the price. Some things to note: -Inputs tend to run a little hot and there is no phantom power if you are using a condenser mic. -The mixed down and mastered stereo master track does count as one of the 4 tracks. -Bouncing tracks can be a little tricky, as with any of these portastudios so be careful. -I would recommend getting a little tripod to mount this on. It's very light and once all the inputs are plugged in, it could easily slide off a work surface. I put some double sided tape on the back. I would definitely recommend this product if you are just getting into recording or need a fun little 'sketchpad' for songwriting.
