Hands down my favorite camera accessory.
This is an absolutely wonderful strap. The wuality and look of it is excellent. I love the mounting design. The screw and mount are very thick making it durable and able to hold your camera securely. The angle of how the camera hangs is way better than your typical cheap D hook screw where it just hangs it straight down. This makes it so your camera hangs more naturally out of the way. Its really comfortable especially when compaired to any neck strap which caused me a lot of discomfort in my neck. Disconnecting the strap from the camera is quick and easy. Its nice that Altura also included a tether for added security. I dont use the pocket at all, but it seems like a secure place for sd cards. The strap has a good range for sizing. Overall this strap makes camera movement so smooth and fast. Best camera strap ever!

This is more than a simple camera strap!
I ordered this for my daughter, though she insisted that she was buying one for my birthday present. No matter it ended up in the family. Now, to the review. I received it in a plastic sack, and given the features of the strap, I underestimated how small it would pack down. First of all, this is not a simple strap, as the product name implies. It's more of a camera suspension system. Certainly, it is far more than the strap you receive with a new camera. Pulling it out of the package, it wasn't immediately apparent how it should go together. There are instructions, and if you study them a bit, it all becomes apparent. Please note that there is a small, but very important safety strap that will retain your camera, if the normal connection fails. Rather than dropping your camera on the concrete, it will save the day if the very substantial main attachment plate disengages. It may take a bit to put it together, and adjust the strap to proper length for your physiology. After that, the camera hangs comfortably at your side, and all you need do is lift it into position for the shot. The camera slides up the strap easily, and when you're finished you simply lower it back to your side, as the camera slides back down the strap. There is no problem using a larger DSLR, and connecting a hulking Canon 70-300mm L series lens will give you no trouble. After lugging a heavy rig around for several hours, I noticed I wasn't feeling the aches and pains I'd normally get with a conventional "stock" neck strap. The included pad is large, and thick enough to make a difference. The metal hardware pieces are substantial and well made, but you might want to put a bit of gaffer's tape in strategic locations if you want to maintain a pristine on some of the metal surfaces of your camera. Of course, that is a concern for any strap system using metal, but the construction quality of these attach fittings make the small protective effort worth it. Were I to criticize the product at all, I'd recommend that the manufacturer enclose a more detailed instruction sheet in the packaging to allow things to go together more quickly. This is a bit more complex than a simple camera strap, and might seem daunting at first. However, once it is completed, you'll marvel at how ingenious the whole rig is. After using it for a bit, I do believe I'm going to buy one for myself!

Outstanding!
This is SO much better than the neck strap that came with my camera. I took my daughter to an indoor dinosaur convention thing, and I wanted to get some good, low light pictures, something the Iphone is not suited for. This meant carrying my Canon 7D with large flash around for 4 hours, yet still needing to whip it into position at the whims of a 3 year old who's cutest moments don't last more than a second or two. After a few adjustments, and a few more throughout the event, I found great relief in this strap. My neck didn't hurt, my shoulder didn't hurt...nothing hurt! I also didn't have a bulky camera hanging right under my chin, which was nice...it was down near my hip, out of the way, but still handy. I found the quality of this strap excellent. This is an expensive camera, something that I could not easily or quickly replace, so I was a bit concerned about an inexpensive strap from this company. After a thorough inspection I found my worries misplaced...this thing is not going to drop my camera. Highly Recommend!

Wonderful product and great customer service.
I bought this one for my trip to Florida. First of all it is a very good product with very reasonable pricing w.r.t other expensive branded stuff in the market. I fixed the camera a little differently than how they showed it in the videos. I was scared to use it just with just the hook, so used the other end to tie it to the camera actual hooks. That way the camera had two links instead of just one. Yes, you would loose the ability to take out the camera completely, but that was ok with me. The shoulder strap is comfortable and soft and holds good. I had no issues carrying it all through the day on trips to those crazy Disney parks in Orlando. The only complaint I had was the screw and plate that hooks to the camera base started getting loose sometimes when the camera was dangling on the side. I contacted them and they assured that does not happen and they promptly shipped a new one. Infact, the new one had additional pattern on the shoulder pad. Guess for more friction. Will update the review so see how it holds up with respect to the screw. The only thing I thought they can improve on the product for that price is the color. It would be good if they come up with some bright colors like Red, Yellow etc. :-) Just a change from the regular black color.

Rating a 5 only because you can't give 6 stars - Excellent strap
I wish Amazon allowed for SIX stars for this item! I absolutely love everything about this camera strap (see photos). It has made walk-around shooting so much more convenient and comfortable. I feel that purchase was a great value, and the strap well constructed, quality material. The strap allows your camera to hang in a convenient, out-of-the way position on your body, but always at the ready for a quick shot. I purchased this strap before a vacation that took me from the breathtaking Rocky Mountains to beautiful streets of Boston, Massachusetts. I was hoping to find a more comfortable way to carry my DSLR with a hefty 70-200 zoom. This strap far exceeded my expectations for comfort and after spending several days walking around with this rig, quickly put to rest my fear of damage due to strap or mount failure. The strap is sturdy and the mount stayed secure the entire time. I used, and would recommend the same to all, a tether which acts as a fail-safe if the snap or mount would break loose. While this has yet to happen to me - it did give me piece of mind and kept me from worrying about my beloved camera meeting the pavement unexpectedly. If you are looking for an alternative to the standard, around the neck strap, and want your camera always at the ready for a quick shot - this is the product for you.

Fantastic camera strap, comfortable, vast improvement over regular neck strap, great value.
Wow! Great camera strap!! I wanted something that would be an improvement over a "regular" neck strap without spending a ton of money. This strap is far exceeding my expectations. I absolutely love it! I've been using the Altura camera strap for about 6 weeks now. In that time, I've taken the camera on at least 8 or 10 family outings that lasted several hours or more. This strap is comfortable! I I've worn the camera for hours at a time. The pad on the strap distributes the weight well. With the old neck strap, my camera spent most of the time hanging from our kids' stroller when we went to these events. Not so any more! I have not had problems with the pad sliding out of place. When I lift the camera to use it, the camera slides easily on the strap. The few times the pad moves, it's usually when I am moving around while I have the camera up and ready. The strap makes it easy to get back in place, though. There are "keepers" on the strap itself that you can set - when I move the camera back down, the camera slides freely until it reaches the keeper, then pulls the strap into the right position. (There are two keepers, one for each end, so it works the same way in the other direction too!) I found it very easy to adjust the strap to have the camera hang comfortably at my side, at easy reach for my hand. Makes it very nice to catch a quick photo that I might have missed (especially if that camera had been hanging on the stroller, like I mentioned earlier). It's quite comfortable, not banging against my side as I walk. It's also easy to reposition the camera if it's in the way, helping a child wash hands for example! Not so easy to reposition a camera on a neck strap. I really like the features Altura put into this strap. The zippered compartment is nice for a couple small items, like a lens cleaning cloth, spare memory card, or maybe even spare battery if you are lucky (the battery for my camera is just a fraction too large to fit, but oh well). The safety tether is one feature that got me interested in the Altura over some competitors with similar overall designs. I am pleased with the quality of the materials and construction. While it's "only" been 6 weeks, I've now worn it hours on end while I am chasing around my three year old kids outdoors (plural, three year old twins!). I think that's a pretty good test for a camera strap. I am extremely pleased with the Altura strap. I think it's an incredible value, too.

Very convenient for the photographer who wants to travel light
A few months back, I saw some photographers with a similar item (not sure if it was the same brand or not). I thought that it looked very convenient and easy to wear so I immediately went to Amazon as soon as I got home to try and find it. I looked at reviews for a couple of different brands for this type of neck strap and ultimately settled on this one. I have had this item for about two months now and have to say I really like it. Makes getting the camera in position for that next great shot super easy. It's very easy to install and is very sturdy. There's also a safety strap you can install to the camera in case the metal clasp fails (has not happened yet, but it does add an extra layer of security for me). I particularly like using this because of how it sits, the traditional neck strap that came with my DSLR always bugged me, and was not long enough to wear over one shoulder like this strap is. It has been very convenient for the times I decide I just want to take the body + one lens, without additional accessories and can ditch the camera bag. There is also a pocket on the shoulder pad, which I've used to store a lens cleaner. The only slight issue I have had with this is on the shoulder pad. I find that it tends to slide around quite a bit, even with the non-slip grip underneath. It's not enough of an issue to knock the review down a star, since the strap itself stays put just the shoulder bit slides around.

This is one of the best camera accessory items I have ever purchased
This is one of the best camera accessory items I have ever purchased. The camera strap has a small zippered compartment that allows me to put in small items such as a memory card, cash, etc... The unit is durable and allows me to keep my camera ready at all times. I can quickly grab the camera and take a action shot. It frees up both hands for other activities. There is also a safety device with this strap in case the main clip breaks ro comes loose that will prevent the camera from falling. The only issue I have is the unit that attaches to the camera does not stay tight. There is an attachment that connects to the bottom of your camera where a tripod would install. This unit then has a clip that attaches to the strap. The screw that connects the attachment to the camera does not stay tight and allows the unit to move. Sometimes when I take a picture the unit is turned side ways and touches the corner of my eye. I am going to try a lock washer to see if that helps.

Loving it - No more camera bouncing off my stomach as As I walk
I do not like walking around with my camera bouncing off my stomach, and also I don't like advertising that I have an expensive camera when I'm in some of the cities that I visit. I bought the Altura Photo Rapid Fire Vintage Camera Neck Strap so that I looked more like a regular tourist. Now my camera hangs comfortably at my side and is quick, easy and comfortable to grab and shoot. I have not had it that long and have not used it very much yet, but I have used it some. As you can tell by the five stars I'm very pleased with it at this point. I have another brand of a very similar style Camera Strap - Soft Padded Black Neoprene Lightweight Adjustable Comfortable Designer Sling for Your Valued Canon Nikon Pentax Sony DSLR - Anti-Slip - For Guys & Women - Quick Release Design that I have on my DSLR which is about double the price and which I also like very much. The Altura strap is on my Fujifilm X-T20 mirrorless. Unfortunately on the X-T20 with either strap I have to loosen and turn the plate on the bottom of the camera to access the compartment where the battery and SD Card are. With the thicker knurled mounting screw on the Altura it is quite a bit easier to loosen and tighten. Both of them allow you to mount your camera to a tripod with either a quick release plate or directly if your tripod does not have a quick release plate. Unfortunately, neither of the straps holds solidly enough for you to place the camera into a vertical position without it drifting down. So If you use a tripod a lot, and especially if you flip the tripod head on its side for vertical photos very much I would not recommend any of the straps that I have tried that mount to your tripod mounting hole on the bottom of the camera. In addition to preferring the mounting screw on the Altura, I also like the quick release clip. I was a little wary when I ordered it and wondered how secure it would be, but when it arrived and I connected it I could see that it is very secure and solid. I did, however, also connect the optional safety tether, which is included in the package, just because that's the way I roll. I love the fact that the shoulder pad has a pouch space where I put some micro fiber cloths, one of which is included, and it has plastic pouches for two extra SD cards. It is extremely rare for me to change cards out, since I use 64 GB cards, but it's sure nice to know that I have them right there if I need them. The longest I've had the strap hanging on my shoulder is about 6 hours, but I hardly noticed it was there, though to be fair, it was winter and I had reasonably heavy clothing on. I may change my mind in the summer or when I visit a much warmer climate. We shall see. I will be making a pretty big trip to SE Asia soon and so it will be on me for about 16 hours a day for several days. This will be a major test for both comfort and durability. I will try to remember to update this review afterwards. But if you don't see an update in the next couple months it probably means everything went so well that I forgot about it.
