Should come with a notice that the spikes run in a certain direction. So, if you are planning on cutting it to fit in a specific area make sure the spikes run the correct way before cutting it or it will not stay.

Excellent product. Am using in my home for my elderly parent who uses a walker, to make it easier to navigate my thick carpet. Also helps keep the carpet clean from foot traffic and walker wheel stains. Good solid product, not flimsy. Easy enough to fold up and move if needed, but I recommend using work gloves - the spikes on the bottom are rough on bare hands... but that's what keeps it in place. Bonus... I found that I needed a "ramp" on the side edge to go between my carpet and kitchen floor. I cut a strip off the end and used packing tape to attach it to the side of the runner. It actually worked!

This new runner is SUBSTANTIAL. This runner is thick and durable - what a surprise. You can tell immediately upon touching it that it is much thicker than cheap runners. Exactly what I needed. I got new carpeting and looked for a replacement of my old plastic clear runner. The stuff I purchased at the local mega home supply store was thin and eventually began to crack or tear in areas. I’m sold on this item by far. If you want something much better in quality and durability - this is it, by far. It's thick so it takes some time to completely flatten out from being rolled up tightly.

I purchased this runner to protect my hall carpet from my cat's love to claw it. This is a very heavy vinyl that my scissors could not cut; I had to use a knife. It is that heavy and that good for protecting your carpet, no matter the reason. I highly recommend this.

This well-priced ES Robbins Ribbed Runner outmatches my expectations. Using the runner to protect my carpet in high traffic areas, like my hallways, I was surprised by this runner’s particular thickness and durability. Having purchased many runners, this was the first runner that lay flat; stayed flat; was easy to clean; gripped the carpet and rarely moved; and felt comfortable under bare feet. Great purchase. Love this runner. Update: I have had this runner for many months in my busy South Florida home. The runners are of high quality. They look brand new. They are tough and protect my expensive carpets.

My father in law is bedridden and has a catheter that hangs on the side of his bed. After over a year with never having a bag leak, we got a faulty bag and it dripped for almost 2 days before we figured out what the horrible odor was. After scrubbing the carpet and not being able to get rid of the odor, I rented a shampooer and spent 4 hours cleaning the whole room carpet and area rug. Bought this runner to avoid this problem in the future. I was able to run the vinyl runner the length of the room(about 11 feet) under where his bag hangs and also where his food tray goes. It was easy for me to cut using a bit of finger strength and a good pair of scissors. I used the remaining strip to overlap and go under the bed. If we happen to have another faulty bag, this vinyl will protect my carpet and catch the drips so I can easily see the bag is leaking. This vinyl will also protect from all the crumbs and spills onto the carpet that are a constant battle. Those will still happen but they will be easier to clean up from now on. Great thickness and yes the last few inches are tightly rolled but I set this part under the corner of the rolling medical bed so I am not worried about it not staying in place. The only problem is the vinyl is more slippery than the carpet, so my father in law will have to wear shoes or non-skid socks when doing physical therapy on side of bed.

Much higher quality than the junk version found in most big box stores. Also, made in the U.S.A.

This IS a protective runner. It's very thick plastic, need to use a carpenter's scissor to cut it or a utility knife. Once it was laid down it flattened out very nicely. I have no complaints at all about it. Looks good and protects very nicely.

Hi-quality material. It's thicker and sturdier than the runners that I've seen in local stores that sell home repair and maintenance materials. I also specifically needed a 36-inch (3-foot) wide runner for the stairs in my home, and I could not find a runner locally that was as wide. Most are only about 27 inches wide. I did not use this as a standard runner. Instead, I cut it into 10-inch strips to make clear "treads" (36 inch by 10-inch each) to cover and protect my carpet on the stairs. The treads that are available for purchase on the internet have not been the right size to do the job, so I took matters into my own hands. The carpet on my stairs is a light, caramel color and despite taking my shoes off when walking upstairs, it's hard to keep clean. All of the traffic from my family and dogs made keeping the carpet clean a constant job, so I really am looking forward to these treads helping. Some reviewers complained that they have had trouble keeping the runner flat. I found it very easy to unroll when I took it out of the box. The treads I made from it are staying flat on the stairs, and the spikes on the back are helping to keep them in place. I am very pleased that I found this item!

We have 2 senior and sick cats they vomit and diarrhea from time to time so we need some protection for the carpet on the stairs. It's hard to find heavy and thick enough runners from the hardware stores, we looked and searched all of them, bought some to test it out, but all failed. So we thought WTH, try this out since both cats and human are frustrated enough. My husband cut them up piece by piece to fit the shape of the steps since our staircases are not straight up and down, they curve, not too hard for him to complete the project, took about 2 hours to do all 14 steps. They stay well and both cats and human have no problem walking up and down though cats clearly show their dislike or disapprove of the "thing"...
