3 year old daughter brings them to bed every night!

Some will say that these coloring books take the "art" out of coloring because the images are "pre-colored." To those people I say, "who cares?!" My three year-old daughter takes these, and other Water WOW books, with her to bed every night. I can leave her along with them and not have to worry about crayon or marker getting on the walls or her bedding. While the pages are drying, she "reads" some books and then colors them all over again. If the water pen every gets frayed or damaged, Melissa and Doug send replacements for free. Yes, my daughter loves all kinds of messy "true" arts and crafts activities, but this is a fantastic alternative for bedtime, car rides, or trips to the doctor. Love them!!!!

COLOR AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!

These Water Wow sets by Melissa & Doug are so wonderful for travel! As long as you have water, and patience to refill the little pen over and over, you're set for quite a bit of child entertainment! We initially got the vehicles book for my 3 year old son to play with in the car. He and his 5 year old sister both had so much fun with it, I decided to order a second one. She's currently very into all things fairy and princess, so this was a perfect choice. She and my son still trade back and forth between the vehicles and fairies. Use of these is ridiculously easy. The page is white with black lines. Once you add water, the white disappears and a colorful scene underneath is revealed. Once it dries, the page turns white again. You can color this over and over and over again. Eventually some of the white will inevitably get a few scratches in it, but that doesn't really take away from the enjoyment. I've included a few pictures so you can see all of the scenes that are included in the book. It has 4 pages to color, all with different fairy related pictures. I highly recommend these books. I know they make several versions, and based on the 2 we have they're all fun and entertaining. They're absolutely wonderful for the car or a plane ride...or even waiting at a restaurant.

These are great!!

Bought the fairy tale pad for my daughter (2) and safari animals for my son (6). It’s hard to find activities they both like and can do without my help. These are perfect! You fill the pen with water and just move it over the page. The pen does not leak, only takes 1-2 oz of water, doesn’t need refilled often, and stores right in the book cover. Colors of the pages are vibrant and reveal hidden images. Books are easily packed in a bag or carried by a child. I plan to use these on plane and car rides. I’ve bought two more pads to have as well. Would recommend!! Wish I found these sooner!

Fabulous road trip toy, perfect for plane, car, anything!

Easy toy, perfect for the 3 year old. She fell asleep with it in the car and the water seeped from the bristles to the padding of her carseat, but it was just water (and not all that much). So from a mess stand point this gets a A+, as an ounce of water is not a mess in my book. The pen didn't leak when left in it's storage spot in the book. The kid loved being able to recolor the pictures later after it dried. Leave the pen empty and fill in the airport bathroom after the security check and it is the perfect airplane activity. The kid didn't realize the water was used up and was scrubbing the brush on the page. This resulted in scratches and caused the color to be permanently visible in spots. I don't consider this a product flaw, rather an example of what happens after aggressive play. We now have two (as we got after for a gift).

Another great water wow book!!

I think we have about 9 water wow books in the house, they get used almost daily and have been for over a year now. We first started using these books before our twins turned 2 and they've been using them for over a year, some of them showing more wear than others. The top coating on the pages can get scratched with over-vigorous painting, but the books are really pretty hardy (it takes a decent amount to scratch it) and slightly older or more experienced kids will have no problem with it whatsoever. Our boy LOVES coloring these, and will meticulously spend over 15 minutes at a time coloring absolutely everything on every page, our girl gets bored with it more quickly but she definitely still wants to color when she sees her brother doing it. We've given several of these as gifts and I'd highly recommend them to anyone with toddlers! Make sure that you leave them on their sides with each page separated to dry if they get really saturated, it helps extend the life of the book. For the price, it's a sturdy coloring book that keeps on giving, will last you months to years, and doesn't make a mess with use. It's amazing and I'd definitely recommend all of them!!

Awesome water activated coloring book- Smart design and great for small toddlers who want to "paint"

Loved this book! Purchased for my almost 2 & 4 year old as we were headed to Mexico and I was searching for plane safe entertainment with "no mess" for mommy :) This is the coolest toy! It is a great travel size flip book (note that the top cardboard "hanging hole" area pictured is fixed to the book itself so you can either cut it off with scissors or leave it. There are white pages inside each book (thick cardboard so great against toddler's hands). With the included water brush pen (twists apart into two pieces where you fill one end with water and re-twist to close), the kids will paint the page with the water brush pen and magically see colors appear on the page. The water "washes away" the white film to reveal the pre-set colored picture underneath. What is so cool is that after about 5 minutes, the water dries and the color fades back into the clean white coloring page. My girls would paint one page, then flip to the next, then go back to see the first was already dried and ready to paint again. The only negative piece was with the water brush/pen- you should drain all the water when not in use otherwise it can leak onto the pages. Since its mostly a cardboard material book, if it leaks, like mind did, it can cause water damage/crinkling. Also the pen has a little plastic storage lid built into the cover. My 2 year old immediately ripped off the lid that holds the pen inside :( So I have to keep re-taping the lid back onto the cover to keep the pen inside the storage area. Otherwise, this is really an awesome product that will keep your kiddos entertained for a variety of situations- restaurants, car trips, plane rides, etc.

Original, fun, and rather amazing.

This little coloring book literally gives your child hours of completely mess-free painting enjoyment. I had purchased paint with water products before but never one that you can paint on, then it fades away as it dries, and you can paint it again--over and over. To make matters even better, even if you touch the "paint" when it's wet, it doesn't stain your fingers--let alone table, clothing, etc. As the child paints, colors are revealed on the art work that is visible plus invisible hidden elements are revealed adding another dimension of fun and interest. It's the perfect toy to take with you anywhere where you need to entertain the child while waiting or while traveling. Better yet, there are no sound effects as you would get with an i-pad game. All you need is a little bit of water to put in the barrel of the little paint tool that is provided (and that has a built-in holder for storage).

Painting with water. But cooler.

I have loved these for years with preschoolers. It is a colored picture covered it a (wax?) coating that when wet, with water, reveals the picture underneath. Give it 15 minutes or so, and it dries out to hide the picture underneath. It can be reused for years. I don't use the brush that comes with it, I replace it with a bigger brush and a small cup of water. I separate the pages for easier "painting" and drying. It won't replace the fun of painting, but it is a fun activity to use....because you need a large variety of things to keep those little peanuts busy!

So much better than I expected

I have seen these things used by friends and always thought they were a waste -- recently we took a long trip and the kids didn't even get them out of their bags. Boo. Then we started our line up of hospital visits for friends and basketball practices for siblings I took them along. Once my two three year olds gave it a try they were hooked! It is their constant request to bring their "painting books" with them. Even though they aren't precise in their "painting" they enjoy them and can see the colors and hidden items appear. The colors are bright and nice. When they are finished painting you can wipe the pages with a paper towel and stand them sideways with the pages spread and they're ready to use again in about 5 minutes, which is great when you are keeping active kids contained! One of the books is faring worse than the other, mostly because my son really goes overboard with the water and if it gets on the edge of the cardboard it will spread like any paper material will. It does not effect their use at all. We like them so much Santa is bringing more (-;
