I just transitioned to "whole food plant-based" eating 5 months ago. Part of my education was finding out about these soy curls. They have one ingredient: soybeans. No long list of factory additives. The size and shape of the curls makes them versatile. Although my husband is still omni, when he is home, he eats plant-based, because that's what I prepare. I soak these curls in a flavorful liquid, saute them until they are barely moist, put barbecue sauce on them, and spoon them onto a bun. As far as he's concerned, he's eating a pulled chicken sandwich. Win!

I love this product and thrilled to have found it. Look into all their products to try. Their “jerky” is addictive. I love their seasoning and it make a huge difference in flavoring the “meat.” Keep it well closed or it will absorb moisture from the room. Cookbooks on recipes for Soy Curls abound. I have gone on to order direct from manufacturer. It is far cheaper!! I order the #12 box, the Taco Bits, the chicken seasoning and the “Beef Jerky.” I have had a few questions about the products and emailed the company 3 separate times. I have never once got a response from them. I ended up having to google my questions to research out some answers. Product delivery from the company though was prompt and also sent free samples for trying out their other products. If you want to order or get recipes to try go to butlerfoods.com

Tried these on a whim after reading the reviews and -- wow! These are just as good as people say. My meat-eating husband was extremely surprised at how great they taste and at how perfectly the texture mimics chicken. They're SO easy to cook and now I can't imagine getting by without this on the shelf. They are MUCH less expensive than frozen meat substitutes, are infinitely customizable to fit any taste, and can be prepared a dozen ways in a jiffy. A single package makes a pound and a half of 'meat,' a real bargain. The seasoning mix is great, too, and a little goes a long way. Your food won't contribute to obesity, cancer, or climate change, and they're even made right here in the USA without pesticides. What's not to love?

A couple of years ago my wife and I decided to try a vegetarian diet. I gotta admit at first, for me, it was rough going. I missed all the trips to 5 Guys and the local steak houses. But, mostly thanks to my wife's culinary skills (and a couple of Instant Pot's) being a vegetarian is OK. Yup I've fallen off the wagon at times when we eat out. When I saw these I thought they were like a snack food. Popped one in my mouth, no taste, and it sucked all the moisture from my mouth. She explained to me that not everything needs to be sampled in its natural state. Flash forward a few days....one of my all time favorite sandwiches is/was BBQ. I just love the spicy sauce and the texture of the meat, chicken/pork/beef doesn't matter. I walked in from work to see BBQ warming in the pot. Have we decided to cheat today? She didn't say a thing, just sat me down with a sammich topped with fried onions and chopped pickles. I bit down,it tasted exactly as I remembered, pre-vegitarian, Same tangy sauce, same texture, everything that made me a happy carnivore. After my second helping, she says "remember those things you called soy curds? That's them." Enough said. We are keeping these around. Also got a sample bag of soy jerkey. I'm not a big jerky fan, but I actually liked them.

Soy curls are the bomb! They give texture to make a meal have the mouth feel of meat. We are on a cancer diet which is vegan and NO OIL. I have used these for a few recipes already and believe I very soon will either order it by the case or the bulk bag and freeze it. (Amazon has cookbooks which contain recipes for using the soy curls and there are some online, too).

These are delicious and so versatile, but they do have to be prepared properly. They must be thoroughly re-hydrated in hot water for at least 30 minutes, leaving them longer is even better. Then drain and squeeze the water out. Next step is what ever flavor or style you want: Mexican, Chinese, Korean, Curry, Italian, Good old American B.B.Q Ready made sauce are out there, or make your own. Mix the sauce in, squeeze a bit, so they will absorb more. Pan fry or spread on sheet pan and bake, then finish under broiler to brown a bit. Love these in soft tacos, on top of rice or noodles, ect.

I previously purchased Butler Soy Curls without the seasoning and thought that they were just ok. This time I decided to try the seasoning and boy am I glad I did. It really added a lot of flavor. These soy curls are super easy to prepare and I love having them on hand for a quick meal.

For Veganuary, our family swore off animal products and the Soy Curls made it easy to create chicken-less recipes that tasted great. The texture is pleasing, and has that meaty mouth feel. I've used the seasoning in most other recipes where I needed to add more chicken-y flavors like soups. I've already ordered my second batch in one month. I am planning to cut out meat completely now that Veganuary is nearly over, and thank Soy Curls for a smoother transition to plant based foods.

Package arrived yesterday and I could not wait to try them after reading all the reviews. I soaked them for ten minutes then I added a little coconut oil to a pan and a pan seared a few with the seasoning. They were pretty good just like that, I pan seared the rest and then put them in the oven tossed in bbq sauce on broil for a few minutes and YUM was the result. I served them over coconut rice and a side of baked sweet plantains. They were GREAT. I can't wait to try these out with other recipes like "chikn" Alfredo, stir fry, buffalo chikn, curry chikn, and in a lasagna. The texture is great when pan seared. I would like to add that I have not eaten real chicken or any other meat for about five years so my review could be based on this also. My hubby and 4 year old seemed to like them though and they are occasional meat eaters so I think that says SOMETHING. I ordered the package which also came with the Chikn seasoning. This seasoning is like a flour like powder and smells weird but it has good flavor. I even cooked other things with it today. I really like the curls and the seasoning and I will definitely be ordering more of both. Seems more cost effective to order in a package than individually.

Love this stuff! So versatile and yummy. There are so many recipes on line for Butler Soy Curls. You could cook with these for months before repeating a recipe. However, once you've used them a few times, they are easy to convert into your own favorite recipes. Being vegan, I soak them in some Better than Bouillon (chicken-less or beef-less) with a few dashes of Coconut Aminos, and hot water, then use them in whatever I'm making, in place of chicken, beef, or pork. What I love is that they are whole chopped soybean and not a soy protein isolate... much healthier way to eat your soy vs. some of the mock-meats found in the freezer section.
