one of the best amazon purchases I have ever made. it did stop working a few months after I bought it but I opened it up and added a drop of mineral oil to the fan and it started working again. I cant sleep without this. it has made a huge change in my quality of sleep. its worth every penny.

I would give this product 16 stars if I could. I had been using it in my home for couple of years in a fairly quiet area, so it was more to provide a comforting sound than to drown out noise. I then moved - and like a scene from Neighbors the movie, we moved into our new home on the very same day the house next to ours decided to have a raging party. My husband and I sat in our bed the night we moved in, listening to girls shrieking outside our window and bottles smashing, wondering if we had just made the biggest mistake of our lives. I turned this little sound machine on, and I'm not kidding - it drowned out EVERYTHING. The slamming doors, the giggling, yelling, talking, glasses breaking, everything. I had never been so grateful. Thankfully, the raging parties are not a normal thing, but this sound machine still works wonders on those noisier nights.

Honestly blown away at the quality. I was looking for a white noise machine that mimicked my current fan situation. Seeing as it is winter in the Midwest, a fan blowing all night doesn’t seem logical just for our sleep. We live in a large house with multiple units and also have two cats that roam around at nice. So this little guy has two setting, a high and low, but to adjust the sounds you rotate the device to either cover some of the fan sound or ehance it. I use the highest of the high and it has worked wonders canceling out sounds of people running up and down our communal stairs, and I canT hear the cats walking around at all! I will be bringing this with me as well when I travel since it’s small and works with a plug in instead of battery! Also great for people trying to avoid harsh Bluetooth ‘waves’ permitting all night which some sound machines have and honestly I don’t need 300 different rainforest sounds. This is simple and affective.

I spent a very long time online researching different white noise machines before finally settling on this one, and I am so glad I chose this one! For my first baby, I used a white noise machine that played white noise tracks on a speaker. It worked, but not as well as I thought it should. Plus, it had an automatic shut off, which I personally don't like. So for my second baby, I wanted to get a machine that actually produced white noise, not just played a white noise track. I thought that I would just get a large box fan (which is what I use for white noise in my own room), but I didn't want to mess with the temperature of his room or create a dangerous environment for his little fingers when he became mobile. The DOHM fit all my must-haves in a white noise machine, small, portable, adjustable, powerful. It's amazingly customize-able in the amount of noise it produces, it can be just a quiet hum or a full on roar. It works really well, my infant son sleeps soundly despite his big sister being a rowdy toddler. I can keep it low at night so that it's not perfectly silent and I can turn it way up during the day. I will say this though: it doesn't "drown out" all noise. If your upstairs neighbors are blasting rock music and riding pogo sticks, you're still going to hear it. But the DOHM will help. My favorite part about the DOHM is how small it is. It's about the circumference of a CD (if you remember those...) and about as tall as a deck of cards. My family and I travel a lot and it's really easy to throw it into a suitcase to use in the hotel room. I'm very happy with my purchase and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Amazon tells me I purchased this item on Feb 7th of 2014. Well, this weekend I was thinking about how much we run this thing. I chatted with my wife about it and we could only come up with 14 days from 2.7.14 to 9.16.18 that this device was turned off at night time. Every single other night, from 7pm to 7am, this device has started up and run perfectly. That is quite a feat for a fan in a noise making device. This device, for our family, has the perfect tone/noise/sound of any we both have had, ever. It amazingly has run approximately 15 thousand hours and hasn't had any trouble (I think I have pushed forced air into it a couple of times from a can of air). Kudos to Marpac. Great product.

Ok to start off. I'm a really really light sleeper. I didn't use to be but for some reason I found myself requiring ear plugs to sleep and I have tried many many different brands to drown out the snoring of 3 dogs and my dear sweet husband. Some helped , some were crap but eventually I just got tired of needing ear plugs and waking up with sore ears! Ear plugs are just not enjoyable when you wear them night after night for years. So began my search for an alternative . This machine is a mini life saver for me . Don't get me wrong the first night I put It at the other end of the room because the suggestions say to place it away from you so it can fill the room. I tried that , for me it didn't work well so two nights later I placed it on my nightstand directly by my bed. At one point I put it in the bed between my husband who I was contemplating smother with a pillow.. At first I was really bummed because I could still hear the other noises that keep me awake however for a week I forced myself to not sleep without ear plugs and to try and focus on the noise from this machine. Im happy to report that it works! It really works! Something about it becomes hypnotic and relaxing. Does it block all sound that wakes me? No...not for any of fault of its own I just cant really place it where it would block out the 3 snores coming from all directions in my room. However for a noisy neighbor or thin wall I feel it would be ideal. If you give it a chance, I mean a real chance to get use to it I think you'll find it worth your money and your time. I had a few nights of not great sleep while I was adjusting but this weekend every night I slept through the night! I cant tell you how long its been since that's happened!! So my advice , try different positions in your room, try adjusting the fan sounds and give it a week!

Our little geriatric dog barks during the wee hours of the night, starting anywhere from 2:00 to 4:00 a.m. She doesn't have to go out (there is a pee-pad in her pen anyway) and never had any apparent issues when I would check on her. Our vet said at 14 years old, her issue is a cognitive one so she really can't help herself. The only location we can put her pen is in the utility room which is directly under our bedroom. We have tried a multitude of remedies since she started this habit in November 2017, including an indoor bark deterrent gadget, doggie Xanax from the vet to calm her, doggie melatonin, lots of daily exercise, etc. ~ none of which worked for her. We tried soft ear plugs for us, as well as white noise apps on my iPhone. We were experiencing the sleep deprivation of having a newborn baby in the house; not something that works for us at 60 years old...been there, done that! Our daughter bought this exact white noise machine so our 2 year old granddaughter doesn't wake up when their two dogs bark. It works well, and she highly recommended it. The design is simple and fits nicely into our decor; it's hardly noticeable. Unlike many products today, the electric cord is nice and long, which allows the machine to reach a wider variety of locations. The volume and sound intensity are both easily adjustable; we played with it until we found the perfect setting ~ just enough to cover the barking, but not too loud as to be obtrusive. My husband is a light sleeper so he can't have it too loud. Ever since we received this, we don't wake up when our little-old-lady dog starts barking. We found the perfect setting for both of us to enjoy a deep sleep, the benefits of which we definitely feel in the morning. It's been saving our sleep and sanity!

I have four of these. I love them. I give them as gifts to every friend who has a new baby. My first was for an open office to help drown out private conversations from a nearby kitchen that I really didn't want to hear. My second was for my first baby. We got a third when my second was born and finally I got my own so I could sleep through my husband's snoring. They're great. Until they rattle. There's nothing more annoying than an inconsistent rattle. Determined not to spend another $50, I unscrewed the bottom of the worst offender. It was filled with dust. I cleaned it with compressed air and put the smallest drop of silicone lubricant, that specifically does not attract dust, onto the base of the shaft that the fan sits on top of. I let it penetrate for a minute, turned it on and the rattle was gone. $50 saved and I'm in love again.
