The portable has more power and better performance - for only $10 more. I need that, because I get stains on my dentures. I usually use regular denture cleaning tablets (to use up a big surplus I have), and then use the special powder occasionally. I usually run the dentures through two cycles, when I'm using just the tablets. That means it takes only six minutes instead of having them soak in a cup for hours.

Wonderful for night guards. it cleaned the night guards just like the dentist's ultrasonic cleaner. We use it once a week with warm tap water. It will turn off when done. We leave it on our bathroom counter, takes up less space than a paperback book. The tub DOES NOT REMOVE, but it's in the bathroom and we just pour the water out the front, it's not hard and it doesn't make a mess. Wipe dry when done with clean towel and unplug when not in use, easy!!!

Was hopeful that this would work on my mouth guard since my dental insurance wouldn't cover it. $900 out of pocket... over 2 or 3 years it became... well, let's just say nasty is an understatement. Regardless how much I soaked and scrubbed, I couldn't get it clean. Took a chance on buying this... best purchase. It cleaned my mouth guard more than I could have imagined. I could see it begin to clear up immediately. I am so pleased. I will use it for both mouth guards--I bought a second once because I thought I needed to throw the first one away. So now I have one I can keep with my travel suitcase and one by my bed.

I have worn an upper partial plate with 2 front teeth for over 50 years. My current partial is 42 years old. I have always brushed it several time daily. Yet over the years, I have noticed calcified material on either end, and stains on the front surface and between the two teeth. No amount of Efferdent has ever been effective in removing the calcification or staining. Year after year, the stains just keep getting worse. Desperate for a solution, I decided to try an Ultrasonic Cleaner. I purchased the iSonic F3900 with the hope it would do a proper job. Amazon delivered the unit in two days, and I read the instructions to make sure I used the device correctly. The F3900 came with a small packet of cleaning power. I wiped down the metal bowl with a damp cloth and mixed up a 1 cup batch of cleaning solution. The instructions said it was not necessary to use the plastic strainer, so I did not use it. I inserted my upper partial plate into the bowl of the F3900 and poured the solution into the bowl, stopping just before reaching the Max fill line. I plugged in the unit, closed the lid, and pressed the "On" button. The F3900 started to hum slightly, but if you looked into the bowl, you could see just the slightest agitation of the liquid solution inside the bowl. Compared to watching the foaming action of Efferdent, it didn't look as if anything was really happening. In 5 minutes, the unit turned itself "Off". The instructions say you can use the unit for up to 15 minutes before giving it a rest to cool the ultrasonic transducer. I go ahead and run the F3900 for one more 5 minute cycle, a total of 10 minutes. Even during the second cycle, it looks as if hardly any cleaning is taking place. After the end of the second cycle, I open the lid and remove my partial plate. I rinse the denture throughly under running water and begin my inspection. The calcification on either side of the teeth, GONE ! The dark stain between the two teeth, GONE ! The staining on the front surface of the teeth, GONE ! My 40+ year old partial plate looks as if it just came from the factory. WOW! I can not believe my eyes. After all the years of trying to scrub away the calcification and watching Efferdent try to foam away the stains, the iSonic F3900 has just performed a miracle on my denture. All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW!

I bought this because I was having trouble keeping my Invisalign braces clean. They're pretty disgusting after one night of sleeping in them, let alone if you drink coffee or wine with them in - plus, I'm a mini germaphobe, so given that I know I'll have to wear a retainer to keep my teeth clean, I wanted a way to keep it clean. I was skeptical about this product given the mixed reviews about noise, but I went with this model because it seemed to be the only one that didn't look like it was straight out of the 80s and my wife is pretty particular about the appearance of things that sit on our recently redone bathroom counters. Bottom line: I'm very happy with this purchase. It looks great, and it works great - braces are nice and clean after a quick bath. As for the noise, yeah it's loud but it only lasts for 5 minutes, so I just throw them in while I eat and it's perfect. Also, it's been working great for over a month. You do have to clean the tray inside it regularly, but it comes right off and is very easy to rinse and clean. While I can't compare this with other products on the market, I would recommend it for Invisalign users.

I spent hours doing research on Amazon before purchasing my first ultrasonic cleaner for the mouth guard I've worn for years. I have TMJ, and mouth guards made by good dentists for this condition are EXPENSIVE. I've always wondered why mine comes home from the dentist looking so much better than when I clean it at home. Now I have my own "at the dentist" cleaner. It makes very little noise; you can hardly hear it. After five minutes, it turns itself off. While you can add dental cleaning products to the water, you don't need to. Because I've had this mouth guard for nearly a decade, even the iSonic F3900 won't remove some of the silver-colored stains from the teeth with cavities that grind against it at night, but that does not surprise me. A dental hygienist told me that putting my TMJ mouth guard in water with a drop of Dawn dishwashing cleaner would help remove the surfactants regular cleaning doesn't, and she was right. That what I have been using, but this works even better. DO NOT use regular toothpaste on your plastic dental devices - they are abrasive and will cause more problems down the road. I have a large mouth, and I sincerely doubt that anyone's TMJ mouth guard wouldn't fit into this device.

Why, oh, why did I never take the leap on buying this years ago? During my many years of soaking my mouthguard in denture solution and brushing it, I had my eye on this but couldn't justify it to myself. Finally, despite my cleaning efforts, my mouthguard developed a grey "stain" which continued to darken. Needless to say, it grossed me out but no scrubbing removed it. So I finally purchased this, used half the solution and ran it through the cycle twice (per directions). *TA DA* - all stains gone and it looked perfectly clean. Now I simply use water in it and run it through 1 cycle each morning when the mouthguard leaves my mouth. This sweet little thing has simplified my life in lovely way - just wish I'd bought it years ago!

I just got this a few hours ago and was so desperate to clean my nightguard that I couldn’t wait to use it. Let me tell you - I have tried everything to clean this nightguard - I have soaked it in alcohol, mouthwash, etc, I have brushed it every morning religiously, I have used a metal pick to try to clean out specific areas, and nothing worked. I saw the reviews for this guy and bought it immediately, and my nightguard is now just like new! Sorry for the gross before photos, but I need you to understand how fantastic this is. If you’re embarrassed by your gross nightguard and feel like you’ve tried everything - try this. I put mine in with water and the cleaning packet for 3 back to back cycles totaling 15 minutes. Now that it’s finally clean, I’ll just use water every morning. I’m very happy with this purchase - not only does it clearly work, it seems nicely made and it’s even smaller than I expected which is a bonus.

I use this for my invalisign retainers and wow! My first test with this, I didn't pre-brush my retainers, I just threw them in with just tap water. My retainers were pretty gross so after the first run, they were cleaner but there was still some stuff on them. I flipped the retainers and ran them again. They came out like new! After that first time of double-cleaning my retainers, I only have to run them through once. I don't have to brush my retainers anymore, I just throw them in (usually upside down) and voila! I don't know about dentures or other items, but for invisalign retainers, I haven't used any cleaning powder/solution at all and they still come out fresh. It does make a noise, but I usually am hopping in the shower right away (the water blocks out the noise) or I leave the bathroom and shut the door. It's not so loud that I can hear it behind a closed door. My only complaint is that the basket no longer comes out so I have to keep the entire device near the sink (or have a super long cable hanging around the counter). But, they tell you that in the description so you know what you're getting. I wish I knew about these when I had my aligners!

I have been frustrated trying to brush all the crevices of my invisalign retainer and still having it have debris stuck in places I can't really reach. I resorted to taking a pin to scrape it out which didn't work all that well. My retainer has also gotten brown tinged over the last several years (it's about 4 years old). I was skeptical this would work for both issues but since I only get it cleaned by my dentist every 6 months, I figured it was worth a shot. I bought this with retainer brite tablets, but it came with one pack of the ultra sonic cleaner. It was really easy to set up (plug in and fill with water) and the instructions were clear. I removed the plastic tray and used about half the packet of the cleaner and ran my retainer through 3 cycles (taking one ten minute break between so it didn't overheat) and the difference was amazing. I haven't used it with the retainer brite tablets yet, but just the cleaner and water removed all the stuck on junk and brightened them significantly. I'm hoping the color will brighten even more over time, but I'm just happy with how clean they are now. This is simple to use every day and even though it looks like gentle vibrations in the water (I was initially concerned it wouldn't do anything) it definitely makes a difference. Very happy with the purchase.
