I'm very pleased with this diet from Hills
I'm very pleased with this diet from Hills. My cat has been in it for 10wks and has lost about 4.5#. This food is palatable and a decent size kibble. As long as you are feeding what your cat SHOULD weigh and not what your cat currently weighs, you should have success as well. I also like the packaging of this product because the bag has a Velcro seal that keeps food fresh and flavorful.

Cats Are Now Lean Feline Machines!
While I always liked Hill's Science Diet I needed to find a different food for my newest rescue cat. He'd been abandoned and on his own for a while--eating whatever he could find. After getting rid of the parasites he'd gotten he became a "chubby chipmunk" on another Hill's product. So...after investigating thought I'd give this a try. What a difference! It took about 2 months but he's back to a normal weight. On the side, my other two cats took to this food and they too have lost weight. Didn't even realize that they were getting a bit too chunky for their own good. Another thing I noticed was the litter box. While the amount of "poop" has increased, there doesn't seem to be the nasty odor that came every time they used the litter boxes. Vet said it was due to the extra fiber. She also said that the extra fiber is good for "cleaning out the pipes" and can cut down on the hair balls.Overall...happy cats...happy cat mom!

Science diet is great quality cat food and this low calorie food works wonders
Works great to help an overweight cat slowly lose weight. My girl weighs now about 11 pounds. She did weigh 13. She’s short and stocky a miniature calico. She is eight years old and has cushings and I didn’t want to put her on a diet. I felt it very cruel. She’s doing well with this food and seems to enjoy it and is acting like a kitten again. I feel better now about her being on a diet and eating better for her health. This food is great for cats. She ate science diet before the rice and egg for sensitive stomachs it’s not low calorie but if your babies have digestive issues of any kind including constipation I highly recommend that for you too Science diet has been a miracle for our furry family.

Quality cat food for sustainable, healthy weight.
I have two very obese cat-blobs. When I finally decided that enough was enough (read: when Harvey jumped on the cat tree and broke it), I bit the bullet and said 'take my money!'. We're three months in on the new food and I can already see a dramatic difference in one of the cats. She's more active, seems happier, and has definitely shed some pounds. There was no rejection to the switch either (but, then again, neither of my cats are finicky when it comes to food). Bottom line is: I love my cats and want them to be healthy and happy. For me, it's worth the investment and it really does work for sustainable and healthy weight loss.

Best food I have found for my pets
I find Science Diet to be a consistently beneficial food for my cat. I raised a former cat on this feed based on the recommendation of my vet and she lived to be 18 years old with very few health problems - only dry Science Diet (various varieties as she grew older). For my current pet (an adult rescue cat of 7 years old) she gained weight the first year - stress eating a likely culprit. A different vet, this time, recommended Science Diet "light".... but it turned out the current labelling/branding by Science Diet meant using the Adult Perfect Weight food. Over the course of a year, she lost almost 2 pounds to bring her to her appropriate weight. She also liked the food immediately - no introduction problems. It also seemed that the smaller pieces made it easier to chew. All in a this is a great food and has improved the health of my new little cat animal. (Note: I do not feed her a small amount two times a day, but just leave a full food dish out for her at all times and she manages when she wants to eat or not. Other cats may not self manage, but my cat does and it makes it very easy to keep her healthier. Now that she is at the appropriate weight, the vet suggested I can use limited treats to start shaping her behavior. I highly recommend this food. I have never fed my cat pets any other brand and find that it is worth the price (Note: When I first got my rescue cat Cleo, she came with the remains of a large bag of grocery store dry cat food. I don't remember the brand, but the food was different shapes and colors. She literally spit out the small green colored bits. Odd, but a definite culinary commentary. Once I introduced her to Science Diet, over a short period of time her fur grew shinier and her food anxieties vanished. All cats are different, of course, but mine has clearly shown her preference for the Science Diet. After 2 years of this cat food, her fur continues to be glossy and she has more energy. Perhaps part of that is the cat just becoming comfortable in her new home and relaxing. At least with the science diet, she never spits out the food as she did with the multi-colored store brand. Try it. ask your Vet. Your cat(s) will approve.

Help for Your Chubby Cat!
Do you have a cat that is fighting being overweight? Or does your cat even care it it's a little on the chunky side? What we know is that excess weight in a cat predisposes the animal to a variety of other health risks, including shorter life span, heart and kidney disease, and increased stress on bones and joints. It is a good thing to try to get your cat down to a healthy weight. Diets that are rich in dietary protein and fiber, but low in fat, are typically recommended, since dietary protein stimulates metabolism and energy expenditure, along with giving the feeling of fullness, so that your cat will not feel hungry again shortly after eating. We have been feeding our chubby cat this food for a couple of months now. We have not weighed her, but it is pretty obvious when looking at her formerly bulging flanks that she is getting smaller. Your vet can help you to determine how much to feed, but we feed our cat 1/4 cup twice daily. She enjoys the food and begs for it when feeding time comes around. Recommended!

Lost a couple ounces and some tummy girth within a month
We rescued my cat from a hungry skinny 7.5 lb street cat who is insecure about food. She stole half the food from the other cat in her first home and gained weight and she was up to 11.6 lbs before we had the chance to intervene and put her on scheduled mealtimes and the Light version of this kind of food. She maintained her adorable yet portly form the whole time she was eating Light food. Then we switched her over to this, and not only does she prefer the taste, but paired with tons of play and some walks outside she’s lost a couple ounces of that chub and the tummy straps on her harness (which once had to be expanded to the maximum to accommodate her 17” roundness) had to be shortened significantly so they were once again snug.

My boyfriend was not taking good care of his cats when I met him
My boyfriend was not taking good care of his cats when I met him. He bought them for his kids. He would buy the two cats the cheapest food; one of the cats had a predilection to being very active and hyper while the other was less active and blew up like a cow. The rotund one seemed to be sensitive to the ingredients in cheap cat foods, swelling up and staying sluggish and lethargic all the time. He did not seem like a happy creature, just a very tired, bored one. I researched a bunch of methods to help indoor cats lose weight. My friend who had owned cats for years recommended this food, but said it was a bit expensive. I convinced my boyfriend to split the costs with me, alternating turns buying bags when we ran out and we were able to get the food. In total we spend $120.00 per year feeding 2 cats. $120 split in half is $5 per month for each of us, which I think is doable. So if the cats are a family effort, I believe that the cost is worth it. The cat lost a lot of weight. He was able to climb down the stairs safely without falling. He was also able to easily jump on the cat tree we bought them. After two weeks of the food it was like night and day. He would walk around, play with his brother cat (pick on him a little too), and play with cat toys. These were activities he never engaged in before.. At that time the weight loss wasn't noticeable but the cat's change in disposition was clear. After two months the weight loss was apparent. After four months he was so lean compared to his original size. Both the cats coats became shiner. He is still not the weight of a normal cat 1 year later but he is making great progress...I mean he weighed 30 pounds to start off. He is about 17 pounds now. Not to mention they LOVE the food and never turn up their noses to it! They couldn't wait to eat the first time I brought it out of the bag. Now we have two happy, healthy cats!

We shall see
Original Since I'm not a cat nor do I eat cat food, I can't say if it taste good. I have no choice, but to assume my cats like it since they eat it without problem. Then again, due to Vets orders, they have a very small portion since they are obese cats. I haven't seen a result yet in their weight. Updated after a year Originally, I had given this product only three stars since it was new and I wanted to see results first. After a year of having this, I am glad to say, it is worth it. My cats not only lost weight, but are much more active now. I wish I had taken photos of before and after to show the major differences. Also, this food has significantly helped their digestive track. Before they would pass gas and have frequent problems of constipation. I haven't switched back to the Purina food they were eating nor plan to. Nothing against Purina, but this Hills food maintains my cats weight much better.

My indoor cat likes it but outdoor cats would rather starve.
I’ve been feeding this to my cat for a couple of months now and while she is still not the perfect weight she is for sure losing weight. She also has a pretty sensitive stomach but doesn’t seem to have a problem with this cat food so YAY. I wouldn’t recommend feeding it to outside cats though because they tend to leave it for the opossums, who leave it for the armadillos, who leave it for the mice, who leave it for the ants, and congratulations you now have the healthiest ant hill in the county. Attached is my cat demanding I feed her at approximately 4am. (It should also be noted that I do not feed my cat before 7am... EVER)
