Ok, so this was a total impulse buy. I had it on my wishlist for a while as a curiosity. I was ordering some "add-on" items, and had just a few minutes left to get my order in to hit my delivery target, so I said what the heck, and added this to my cart to get above the minimum order amount for the add-ons. It just came, and I took it out. First impression was it was lighter and smaller profiled than I had imagined...I had figured in itself it was going to be some heavy-ish tool, but it's not. I had a minute, so I figured I would give it a try. My equal-i-zer hitch (which is a fairly meaty hitch) was stowed in my trailers storage compartment. I remember thinking when I ordered it "eh. I will still probably need to pull it out of the compartment before using this"...wrong. The profile is small enough I was easily able to slip it over the ball while in the compartment. I didn't even have to re-position the hitch first, just grabbed onto it where it lay. My other preconception was "ok, how much of a balancing act is it to carry it around with this?". I had visions of carrying it and it slipping off and bouncing off the pavement. Again, the design proved me to be worrying needlessly...the way it is designed, it slides onto the ball and cradles it with virtually no effort on your part to keep it in place. I lifted it one hand out of the storage compartment and literally exclaimed out loud to myself "oh my gawd...what didn't I have of these 20 years ago?!?!?!?". I felt like I could have carried the thing down the road one handed, no problem. This thing is amazing. To give you some background...I don't need this, I don't have back problems, I am strong enough to lift the hitch just fine. But this tool absolutely eliminates the awkward carrying that you typical have grappling with these things. I say I am strong enough to lift just fine without it normally, but to clarify, I am not a muscled athletic build either. This thing absolutely helps, positioning the center of gravity of the hitch optimally for a carry. And not only carrying it, but it was much easier to use this to get it out of my storage compartment without wrestling with it. Get this. Even if you think "I don't need it". Just get this. It is so worth the money. I am really excited to have added a useful tool like this to the mix!

The first time I saw an ad for one of these I knew I had to have one and I haven't been disappointed. I'm 73 and have had surgery on both shoulders for torn rotator cuffs, an inguinal hernia and stage three rectal cancer. I don't have much upper body strength. I know, what the hell do I need with an equalizer hitch. Well I have a travel trailer my wife and I enjoy camping in and the worst part of going was hooking up to go, lifting the hitch into the bed of my truck while camping and doing it all again when leaving. The HitchGrip makes it all a breeze. I can slide it in and out with one hand, store it in a Brute tote, chained to my trailer frame while camping, hook back up when it's time to go, carry it to the garage when I get home and never have to lift it above my knee or strain or get greasy. If you use an equalizer hitch, do yourself a favor and get one of these, you won't be sorry.

I, too, had this item sitting in my Amazon cart for several months; and was skeptical about whether (1) it was really necessary, and (2) it really worked as described. Well, I finally bought it and tried it out on my recent camping trip. It exceeded my expectations - because of its design, the hitch head is perfectly balanced, and I was able to carry it with one hand. It also made it a breeze to guide the hitch head into the receiver. Put me down as one very satisfied believer!

Excellent little tool, very light weight and handy. Makes putting the hitch in and taking it out as well as carrying it around much more helpful. I grease my insert connections for my distribution bars and its often messy to just grab the hitch and take it off or put it away. This keeps the grease and mess off you! Its lightweight itself and grabs the hitch ball no problem.

I happened across this Hitchgrip device while browsing Amazon for something else. It looked like money to be spent on something that really isn't needed. But, I read the reviews as I didn't think it could be worth it. The reviews say otherwise. So, remembering the hassle of wrestling my Equalizer hitch on and off the truck as well as moving it around in the garage and at the campsite, I thought - why not? So, I ordered one. It just arrived, and it is worth every penny! It makes moving, installing, and removing my hitch much cleaner and easier. Grasping the handle makes the hitch horizontally balanced for one-handed manipulation. I would definitely buy it again (but won't need to as it appears to be very well made).

I have an F350 with the 2.5 inch receiver. So I purchased the 2.5" draw bar for our Equalizer WD hitch. The BAR weighs 31 pounds. Once I add the hitch head I am over 50 POUNDS. This HitchGrip picks it right up no problem at all. I am careful to keep my feet from under it in case it should fall. One thing I did not like with the Equalizer hitch is that you have to have a lot of grease under it making it difficult to carry and not get greasy. This took care of that easy. I have our hitch head dropped as low as it will go and have no problem using this tool. One person on here said if they lost it they would replace it. I may buy another so that if I loose one I won't have to go without waiting for a replacement. This is a MUST have for me from now on.

I bought this to use with a 2" ball. The description said it worked with a 2 1/4" ball and that there was a replacement jaw assembly for 2" ball. In my search I could not find the replacement assembly. So I thought I would try It and found it worked but fit loosely and was afraid it would fall out of the sure grip. I have since bought a rubber cover from Curt that fit the 2" ball and if fills the space. How long the cover will last I don't know but there are rather cheap on Amazon and that cover makes it feel quite safe, Be careful in moving it not to hold it over your feet incase it should let go. My hitch is a weight distribution hitch which is pretty heavy and this makes it much easier to slide into the receiver.

Yes, I like gadget's, backpack, bags, and unique items. When I found the Hitchgrip, I had to have it. Look, picking up the hitch and sticking it on the car is not a big deal. The hitch is heavy, but throw a dirty towel over the hitch and load it up. In reality it takes less then a minute. But why not use a cool tool that makes it a 100 percent easier. Now i use it every time we go camping which is at least twice a month. It's cheap, well made, and very usful. I recommend it.

No more fumbling and/or straining to slide my heavy hitch, I should have purchased this handle type product sooner, with a five level lumber fusion with spinal cord damage lifting a gallon of milk aint fun, I TOTALLY recommend this Hitch Coupling Lifting Tool to everyone especially folks with terrible back like mine!!

Wasn't so sure if this was worth the cost, but to my surprise, it does simplify lifting those heavy travel trailer hitches that are quite heavy. Don't think it would be needed for most smaller boat trailers or such, but for the receiver hitch like in the photo description for stabilizer hitches, this thing does simplify lifting, installing and uninstalling the hitches. Overall, I am impressed with this tool and will keep it handy.
