Incredible Sound
Once tuned up, this sub sounds amazing. Clean, deep, rich lows that compliment the 305's perfectly. The best buy I have made in a long time. The only downside is they are a little steep in terms of cost. But, the quality is definitely there. No unwanted sounds that I can detect. I would caution using this in a small room, especially if the room has not been treated with sound dampening/proofing. The attenuation will drive you and your neighbors nuts. Pretty much all of the speakers in my home are JBL's. I've been using them for many years and they have NEVER failed me. So, whenever the need arises, despite cost, I turn to JBL because of their attention to detail, longevity and overall product quality.

If you like ultra low, clean tight bass, this is as good as it gets
It is so damn good. Best subwoofer for the money, even the Polk audio ones that cost 4 times are much are not as good. I want to cuddle up with it at night.

LOUD ENOUGH IF YOU FOLLOW THIS...
So a lot of you producers and non-commercial users are saying this is not punchy enough, or does not have enough kick to it, well all I gotta say is you're doing it wrong. I thought the exact same thing while testing it till a friend and I figured out what we were doing wrong. I am sure some of you figured it out, as its kinda trial and error but in case you haven't read below. Before I explain the solution to your problem I should explain I do not use this for studio use or and music production. I use it for general use such as music, movies, games, and the occasional sound clip edits so I don't run this on +4 settings. To achieve a proper balance for general use assuming you use something like the Focusrite 2i2, set your speakers on -10 and drop down your volume on your monitors 25-40%. Then set your sub to max volume and put it to XLF, now bump your volume on your audio interface (in my cause I use the Focusrite 2i2) and BAM you now have more sound from your sub to match your speakers, and all you gotta do is raise the volume a bit more. Enjoy!

Really Nice
I ordered this to be shipped to Ecuador, where I live, cost me a fortune to ship it here, but I did get it on a nice sale. So I hooked it up with unbalanced cables from my Schiit Bifrost DAC and balanced cables out to my JBL LSR305's. Really nice. The low end to this sub is perfect for my space. Now I need a preamp (maybe a Parasound but more than likely the Schiit Freya Preamp) Maybe more speakers, like the JBL lsr308's. :)

I already have a pair of JBL LSR305's that I love. But
Day one - today. I already have a pair of JBL LSR305's that I love. But, they were/are weak on the bass for my taste. So I bought this subwoofer to finish the set. Oh My! Once I got it where I wanted it and did all the connections I started up some music in iTunes. Nice but not quite right... Pondering switching the gain to +4db. Yup let's do that on all 3 speakers. Start up something in iTunes again. YES! That's nice! That's DEEP and crisp. I tried the XLF setting for the crossover but I prefer the 80hz. One thing that was a surprise is this thing is BIG! I have a subwoofer in our great room that is also a 10 inch speaker that is 1/3 the size of this beast. 15 inches on each side and 18 inches tall. So it sits a bit "in the way" in my office/studio. WAAAAY Worth it!! I'm connecting to my Mac via a Presonus AudioBox iTwo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KBMAJZS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It connects via USB which bypasses the lame DAC that Apple uses. MUCH cleaner sound and an easy connect to the speakers via XLR and TSR connectors. I am VERY happy with this choice on day one - today!

Worth Every Penny
If you have a pair of JBL 308PMK2's and are on the fence, this is worth it. While the 308PMK2's sound amazing, this completes the sound profile. The notched volume also makes it very easy to feel like you're turning it to the correct volume. For the crossover setting, I'd recommend the 80hrz crossover. This keeps the audio true while allowing the sub to shine at what it does best. The only con is that JBL really needs to figure out how to design packaging that will allow the product to arrive in one piece. The first one arrived dead and with many scrapes and scratches. The replacement arrived with scrapes as well but since it worked, I didn't want to risk getting another dead one on just a scrape.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G SUB!
Good gawd this sub is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. As a musician and former audio engineer, I appreciate clean, crisp, full sound with shimmering highs, mids that cut and a polished, full low end. I've had the LSR305 monitors for a year or so and love them, but they are missing a little something. This sub fills that gap and then some. I don't really listen to dance music, hip hop, dub step, etc but I had to at least see what this thing could do. I threw everything at it and it didn't bat an eye. It hits frequencies I've never heard before and hits them with polished authority. No flabbety flabbety fat sloppy low end here. I'm soooo glad I didn't skimp and buy a crappy sub. Check your available space. The sub is a little bigger than I anticipated. I didn't measure or anything as I have plenty of space for it. If you're tight for space, you should check the dimensions.

Requires some fiddling, but worth it.
As some other reviewers have mentioned, you need to correctly tune this sub to your system/surroundings. I was ready to throw this thing out the window after initially setting it up. I actually thought it might have been damaged in shipping. Have some patience. Adjust the settings, move it around. Within 1 hour I had this thing performing as I had hoped it would. You can buy more volume for the money, but you cannot buy more clarity or accuracy. I am very happy and am considering adding a second for just a little added punch. I have this paired with a set of 305's and 308's. I have other jbl subs in my theater and living room but this thing is a couple levels above them.

nothing finer..
added to the JBL monitors.. ummm.. errr..... Ahh.. I am in love... been using professional studio equipment since 1979.... My Mac Book Pro now makes me happy in between on line meetings and email now.my office windows are testing the tensile strength of the silicone sealant between the panes and holding them all together.. .. I could actually use this system for small venues.. I will be adding more... just because i can.. if you are remotely interested.. you will not be disappointed .. I used all XLR connections with a Focusrite interface... I am also a JBL pro speaker owner.. for performances.. that is another reason i didn't hesitate to get these for my office.. anyone having issues with these simply is doing it wrong..

Great with LSR305s
*For those of you complaining that this sub does not work, or has insufficient gain, be sure that your monitors are configured for +4dBu sources. This is a recessed switch on the LSR305 monitors that needs to be toggled with a small object, like the tip of a pen.* This sub provides solid, clean bass and has an included crossover. It isn't earth shattering, but for a single 10" sub paired with small studio monitors, it does an excellent job. I don't feel that the value proposition is as great for this sub as the LSR305s I paired with it, but am very happy I bought it because if fills out the lower frequency ranges very nicely. I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as a source, and the entire setup works very well together.
