and the dirty filters I removed have convinced me beyond words that ...
We've had the APEC 5 stage system installed for a year now, and I've replaced these filters recently. They arrived quickly, were simple to replace, and the dirty filters I removed have convinced me beyond words that this system is removing more bad things from our water than I even realized. YUCK. I cannot recommend this system enough, and these replacement filters are both vital and efficient. Replace them, and replace them regularly!

Original replacements
We love our APEC reverse osmosis water filter system. I replaced my 3 filters with this set after about a year (we have a community well). The two carbon filters didn’t seem too dirty but the first stage sediment filter was brown and dirty! Replacement was a snap, took about 5 minutes and it was amazing how much better the water tasted with the new filters! Highly recommend this water system and filters.

If you're wondering, it's probably time.
We've been very satisfied with our APEC 5-stage reverse osmosis system. For the last year pure water has only been a walk-to-the-sink away. No more lugging around 5 gallon tanks or carrying in overpriced cases from the car. It's so easy you literally forget that it's there! Honestly, the water tastes just as good as the day we installed it. The manual calls for Stage 1, 2, and 3 replacements every 6-12 months. Waiting longer puts the most important part of the whole system, the Stage 4 reverse osmosis membrane, at risk. So at the 12 month mark I spent all of 10 minutes changing them out. Instructions are included with the original paperwork, but if you lost them since initial install you can call the APEC customer service number and they will walk you through. The old filters were gross, but that just shows you how effective they are. I've included a picture of the old ones right after I removed them. I guess our water must have a lot of rust in it! It's a good idea to place a towel down before removing because there will be water all the way to the top of each reservoir. A little advice from someone who has done this is to change out one at a time. This way the entire unit doesn't tip-over(as long as any two are on it will balance). I will give this 3-pack of filters 5 stars for their obvious effectiveness at removing contaminants. If you know your tap water is particularly gross you may want to change at the 6 month mark. Jae

Your kidneys will thank you...
These are the same as the originals that came with the Apec RO system and they work great. The photo is after 11 months of heavy use by a family of 4. Our tap water is about 40-50 PPM on average. With new filters, it drops to 0 PPM... after about 6-months of use, the RO filtered water jumps up to 2-3 PPM, which is still very clean. I will not go as long as 11-months again... maybe 9-months max for how much we use it. If you live in a high-sediment area, it is more like 6-months. Overall, great filters. That is a lot of garbage my liver and kidneys did not have to process.

Excellent filters at reasonable price for the installed system
Installed this filtration system over a year ago, was pleased to find the replacement filters available and reasonably priced. If considering an under the sink reservoir filtration system, you should look at APEC, and appreciate the filtration work these filters do. Worth every penny, and there were not that many of them necessary.

Another year of great-tasting water
The product seems ace, though the instructions aren't as clear as they could be. A couple things that make exchanging the filters a littler easier/better: 1. Put a towel under the housings, as mentioned by other reviewers. 2. Drain the tank BEFORE swapping filters. That gets most of the filtered water out of the system before you open it to install new filters. The instructions say to discard the first tank's worth of water before using it -- but if the tank is already full after swapping filters, you end up needlessly dumping filtered water that can be used while the tank is being refilled (takes a few hours, depending on water pressure). I turned off the valve to the filter, then drained the tank, then turned off the valve at the tank before proceeding with the swap. There were bubbles in the first tank after installing new filters. I assume that's normal. The old sediment filter looked pretty yucky, though it's probably the invisible stuff that's really bad for your health. I cut the old sediment filter apart and it still looked fairly clean toward the center ("clean" side). The filters were 12 months old.

Good water made easy.
We love our Apec RO filter. I had no problem changing out the original filters after 9 months. I used a bit of plumbers grease on the threads of the filter housing and orings when I first installed the setup last fall and I was able to unscrew the housing with very little effort. I loosen the filters over a small bucket to catch the spills and had the whole thing back together in 15 minutes. I noticed a lot of air bubbles in the water the next day so I opened the tap and let the tank completely empty and refill overnight. The water tastes great and has no more bubbles. We're good to go for another 9months.

Easy to Change, Remember to Do All Three Annually
This is a replacement set of filters for the reverse osmosis Apec system. Note that these filters are the ones you need to change about once a year. There is another filter sold separately that you change every 3 years (or so, depending on use). To change these, and I've done it twice now, you'll want to place a towel under the canisters ... as they are bound to spill water out on your floor. There's no avoiding this. So prepare for some spillage. Also, note that the canisters can get VERY tight over the year of use. I ended up having to use a large pair of channel lock pliers to remove my canisters, as the plastic "wrench" provided with the filter just was not strong enough. Great filters and I'll likely buy 3 years worth next time.

easy setup
I bought this system 2 years ago, actually the company selling it tries to give you a free set of filters for leaving a positive review, unfortunately I don't leave positive reviews for bribes, seems unethical to me so I didn't participate. I PAID for my filters 2 years after I purchased this system and NOW I can say I highly recommend it. Apparently my water isn't as bad as others (I live 7 miles south of LAX) and I never felt the need to change the filters because the water tasted fine. I figured I better change them just to see what the filters looked like so heres a pic. Not too bad :) My only complaint is the faucet is tiny and it takes about 30 seconds to fill a coffee cup.

Original filters work as supposed to
I replace these about once a year and other than a small hassle putting the new ones in they work as they are supposed to. BTW we really like the RO system from APEC. For the money you can't beat it. Also they have awesome customer service with people that know what they are talking about.
