This newer style Rubik's Cube moves a little faster than the old ones so if you are one of those people who can solve this thing quickly, it might save you a few seconds. The display holder is a nice touch, and at the price of a sawbuck, it's hard to go wrong with a classic puzzle that stimulates spacial reasoning. I recommend sticking with the original here as the knockoff brands are never as good and not worth saving a dollar or two. Unless you use that saved couple dollars to buy a Powerball ticket and win a rolling jackpot in which case you can then buy as many Rubik's Cubes as you want, so in that case then go ahead. But if you're not winning Powerball, then just buy this cube.

I used to play with the original Rubix cube when they first came out back in the 80’s. Those early models had stickers where the colors are. This newer model Rubix cube has a colored plastic insert which is much more durable and has a nice look. The original Rubix also was much stiffer when first used. I remember having to put graphite powder to speed up the turning process. This newer model has the same feel as a broken in silky smooth models from the 80’s without having to break in and also adding graphite powder. If you twist is too hard in a angle the stress cannot take then this model may come apart but never did for me. I purchased the model with the simple packaging which arrived in a nice flatter low profile box. Included was also a nice base to hold your new Rubix cube. I liked it so much, that I already purchased 2 more as gifts. Price was also very reasonable and I purchased from Amazon as the seller and not a 3rd party seller. This may make a difference to prevent buying any fakes if any is out there like some people suspect. I feel safer buying from Amazon if the price is within good range from the other and so far been lucky. There are many Rubix cube solve websites if you Google it. Great to learn the short cut moves to figure out a swap piece or solving a layer. I rate this product 5 STARS for quality, style, price and lots of fun!

I bought this for my 3 year old, sensory seeking toddler boy. The second i handed it to him, he knew instantly how to play with it, he started spinning it in all diff directions. Stopping, staring at it, almost like he was thinking, and then spinning again. He is in LOVE with it. It's very sturdy, he gets excited and a little aggressive with certain puzzle toys, and this is holding up very well. He even tried to pick at the stickers and they aren't going anywhere (yet).

This is not a speed cube. It's a classic Rubik's Cube. It looks nicer than any speed cube, so if you want a nice looking one, go with this, the original. But it's way better than any original I've ever had. First, out of the box, it's really loose. It doesn't stretch apart like a speed cube will, but it's not stiff at all. Very easy to make all of the turns and you don't need to line up exactly. Second, the colors are great. Every cube I've ever had, the stickers either fade away, or peel off after a while. This one looks to me like the colors are plastic inserts. I've only had it a few days, but I it doesn't look like I'll have any problem with the colors. Bottom line, if you want a nice looking cube to play with, go with this.

When I was a kid in the 80's I could solve this thing in less than 2 minutes. I'm not a kid anymore and it's not the 80's - and now I can't figure this thing out now matter how hard I try (yep, You-Tube here I come). However if you're lucky enough to remember the 80's and the Rubik's Cube phenomenon, you know there are a few things required in order to be a pro at solving this thing. It starts with good hardware. First the sides have to slide smoothly and it has to be well build. Cheap knock-offs had sides that were difficult to turn and sometimes pieces would pop off when you're spinning the sides at high speeds (anyone else try to loosen their's up with WD-40?). This cube is well built, so if you're having trouble solving it, sadly it's not the cube - it's you.

great price when I ordered mine, and the other boys at home decided they like it so much they wanted to get one too. So we have ordered a couple more. It works just as it should, we are not speed players here, so dont know if its good for that or not. But for learning how to play the game it is fine.

Let's cut to the chase: if you had this toy in the 1980s and you want to get the same thing you used to have, this is it, and it still works great. For those of you who've, never owned a Rubik's Cube, it is a fun puzzle game for those who like to tease their brains. The original idea works best, and I wouldn't go with another company that has "improved" it. The joy of the three by three version is that beginners can just have fun trying to solve one side, others can try solving two sides, and (probably with some online help), you can also try to solve the whole thing.

My son loves challenges and keeping the mind fresh. This was a great gift for keeping his attention, problem solving, and understanding the concept of the Rubik’s cube. Everyone in my family has challenged each other to solving this cube in records time. This is definitely a throwback and makes me so happy to see it still have use in this day and time.

Those were the words my 8 year old uttered to me recently. She wanted a Rubik's Cube, and having had one of my own as a kid (and while I loved it, I was always frustrated about not being able to bring it back to the correct state without help), I figured why not. It came at a great price when I added this to another order, so there we are. It is funny how history repeats itself. Now my daughter asks me for help after being frustrated of not being able to fix the cube, and I look at a cheat sheet at night on how to fix it (I wish I had internet back when I was a kid haha). The next day, when I show her the fixed cube, she is completely in awe. Added bonus of that cheat sheet is, I'm slowly learning the moves out of my head and soon I'll be able to do it right in front of her, becoming her hero once more :D

Works great, I had an older cube before that finally got lost, so this replaced the older model, and as advertised, this is much "faster", basically the cube feels looser, usually take a long time to break in a cube to feel like this, but this one came broken in feeling. Also, they got rid of the stickers and now have little colored plastic tiles for each color. Don't know how well this will hold up with time, but so far it seems to work great. I like the new cube.
