Don't even consider buying ANY other type of mount. This is hands down THE BEST! And trust me, I have tried just about EVERYTHING. I have had over a dozen car and desk mounts/docks for my various phones. Nothing compares to this. Hands down THE BEST design. Small footprint. Mount anywhere. Portrait AND Landscape orientation without adjustment. One handed operation. Holds very secure. Quality product... I was concerned about the size of the metal plate which you are required to add to your phone or case. Once I actually saw it in person I realized that it is SUPER THIN. Less than 1mm. Actually just as thin as the plastic skin I have wrapped on the back of my phone (I don't use a phone case but rather a "skin" because I like to minimize bulk to the extreme) ***Note - I had a problem with the mount staying on my curved vinyl dash. The factory adhesive did not stick well enough. The car audio shop where I bought it thought it may have been a bad unit (only in the sense that the double sided tape included on the mount was not tacky enough). So the car stereo installer came out and remounted it for me. He taught me a good trick: He not only cleaned the surface well with alcohol before mounting but he used "Adhesion Promoter" which he said activated the stickiness of any double sided tape. He used something very similar to this prior to sticking the tape: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Adhesion-Promoter-Sponge-Applicator/dp/B004TGJU2A/ref=pd_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=19D2CBPM8PB6JY4QVE2T I was also concerned with it leaving a permanent mark on my car. He said it would not if I used a fishing line to remove it and then rubbed the dash with armor-all. I put it on the dash of a 2011 Mercedes-Benz so he must have been confident!

Works like magic. I have an iPhone 7plus and wasn't sure if they'd work but they work remarkably well. About the only concern is when pushing them on the vents I had to use enough force to make me feel like I could damage the vent - thankfully that didn't happen.

My dashboard is so rounded and curvy this was my option of last resort, and it Works Great! Was able to mount it close to my steering wheel, so I no longer waste valuable moments looking away from the road while trying to navigate an unfamiliar route. **Be sure to Clean your surface TWICE before applying the sticky tape. Didn't realize how grimy my dash was until I used the included wipe, so decided to do a second scour "just in case" that seemed to make a Big difference, more grime came off the 2nd time. Pretty sure that would have hindered the long term adhesive properties. Also, remember to place the included metal plate on the OUTSIDE of your rugged case (like OtterBox), because your phone won't stay attached otherwise. (discovered that with a prior product.)

Works as expected. I have it on my car's dash. I was a little hesitant because I didn't want sticky residue on my dash board if I needed to remove it. It has suction, along with a silicon backing which works just like on your windshield. The surface does have to be smooth for it to adhere properly. At first installation, it was great but I wanted to change the position so that I could get a better view of my phone. It took a little work. There is a tab on the silicon that you would use to loosen the grip after releasing the suction. You'll need to tug on the tab, but after a little work on my part- okay - a LOT of work on my part- The silicon finally gave way. Clean and clear with no sticky residue on my dash, now I know I can remove it and use in my other car with no problem. The rotating head is great and the extra magnet tabs are a bonus because if you change your cover like I do, you could put one on each cover. There are also silicone pads that you would attach to your phone before placing the magnets on it so that you can remove it more easily if you change your phone. Overall I am very happy, I have one on my counter at home too! Works perfectly.

I've been using my MagicMount to hold my iPhone 6 Plus for several weeks now. It's great: very convenient, solid, and hold the phone securely. I already had a plastic disk mounted to my dash for my old GPS unit. I peeled the liner off the adhesive suction cup on the MagicMount base and stuck it on. It's rock solid and hasn't come loose. I'm not sure if the adhesive will prevent easy removal and reapplication (in a rental vehicle, for instance) but I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. I removed the thin case from my 6 plus, and put the MagicMount's metal disk between the phone and case. I did not use the adhesive on the disk; the snug fit of the case holds the disk in place perfectly. Now, when I hop in the car, I just place the phone up on the magnet and it grabs on. The magnet holds my phone securely, even being a large "heavy" 6 plus. The surface of the magnet also has a grippy rubber section that keeps the phone from slipping or rotating. The only downside (and it's a very small one) is that the "neck" of the mount isn't at rigid or stiff as I'd like - on some roads, the phone has a slight vibration that's slightly visible on the screen. A slightly stiffer neck would have made this practically perfect. I also like that the mount included an extra disk so another device could be attached as well - I use one for my phone and another for my iPad while I'm parked, to Netflix while I eat, etc. After using this one for a week or two, we bought the lower profile version for my wife's car. Highly recommend this mount.

Works awesome! I was impressed that the unit came with not only the core pieces you'd expect (magnet base, adhesive, and metal plate) but also included a clear plastic "buffer" sticker to place between the metal plate and your phone should you be installing it directly to the phone. Little things like that, to ensure it doesn't scratch your ~$700-$1k phone was a nice touch. Overall performance wise, I'm also very impressed with how sturdy the hold is. I haven't gone off road with it and instead just done typical commuting, and have seen no issues. I drive a 3/4 ton truck, so my ride isn't exactly the smoothest, especially empty. When you hit a pot hole, you bounce due to the stiffer suspension, and I will say my hasn't moved a bit when bouncing around. I also love the ease of quickly hanging my phone vs having to tighten down my previous mount, it also made it so I could mount it at the perfect height to quickly swipe songs, glance when I'm running google maps, etc. Speaking of which, I had read some reviews of products like this having interference issues with phones. So far I haven't seen anything like that. My maps programs, and everything else seems unaffected.

I had the some concerns about using magnets with my expensive smart phone, but was frustrated enough with the "claw" type holders, with their cumbersome suction-cup mounts, that I jumped in and gave it a go. My iPhone 6 Plus was maybe a month old when I picked up one of the ball bearing types with the 3m base, and although I had no issues with the magnet, the ball didn't offer enough support for my large phone, so I ordered a Scosche MAGDMB MagicMount from Amazon. This thing is brilliant. So much so, that I purchased another to mount on on my iMac at work. It holds my phone easily, not drooping or shifting on corners, potholes or speed bumps. The joint is adjustable, so you can make it as stiff or loose as you need. As to the question of "do magnets have any effect", I've used these mounts daily, at home and work, since the launch of the iPhone 6 Plus. Two years give or take. I use Waze daily on my commute to and from work and have had no issue at all with the built in compass. I'm no scientist, but I can say without any hesitation that I've noticed zero issues that I would attribute to magnetic interference. None. I'm now using the mounts with my iPhone 7 Plus, and will never go back to the archaic suction-ratchet-clamps.

Very impressed with the build quality and the strength of the magnet. Works well through my phone case, but the plates are so thin that I decided to put one directly on my S5, and the other on the S5 case. That gives me more mounting options... The good: The suction is of the gel variety, and it would probably stick to a dog, if you tried it. It stuck to my dash VERY firmly, before I even actuated the suction cup lever. I don't see this thing ever falling off on its own while driving. The head is adjustable to infinite angles, and there is a collar wheel to tighten the head when you get it adjusted to your liking. There is even a little cable catch that secures the cable to the head, so you don't have to go fishing for the power cable every time you place the phone on it. The mount comes with 2 very thin mount plates for your phone or phone case. They are so stylish that I mounted the smaller one directly to my phone. I have had other mounts that grab the sides of the phone, and this one is by FAR more secure than anything else I have tried. It is also simple on/off. One hand... no fiddling with mount arms that you have to open to get it to grab your phone. For my application, 2015 F150, I have it mounted under the little cubby, which is to the left of the air control panel on the lower dash area. That puts it a comfortable distance from my right knee. It is out of the sun for viewing, and out of my way for driving. Perfect! Someone on one of the F150 forums pointed out the spot OVER the cubby as where they mounted theirs... which got me looking there in the first place. I never even noticed the area of smooth dash down there... The bad:

I am a huge fan of the MagicMount. I have a swivel dash mount of these in both my car and my wife’s car and absolutely love them. Words cannot do enough justice to share just how great the MagicMount is compared to all other types of mounts (and I’ve tried a TON of them)! The magnet is extremely strong as long as you don’t have too thick of a case (if you’re doing what I am and sliding the metal piece inside the case, between the phone and the case... I use an Incipio dual protection case) or you affix the metal to the outside of your case. I thought for sure that after the first bump I’d be fishing my phone off the floor, but I’ve driven down washboard roads and my iPhone 8 doesn’t budge. I especially love that there is no messing around... it’s a simple grab and go if getting out of the car or slap and go if you are getting in. You can freely rotate your phone, in case you feel like you need or want landscape mode or some other angle. Specifically speaking about this particular vent mount, I wanted to get a portable option for loaner vehicles (my car has been in the shop... a lot!) or rental cars when out of town or on vacation. I am oh so glad I got this because it was very frustrating not being in my car and not having a good place to prop or mount the phone so I could see Waze or have it generally at hand. I don’t think it is hyperbole to say that this vent mount is a godsend. Such a little thing, but it saves me so much frustration when not in my own car. Plus, I’ve actually found a use for it in my car to help stabilize a propped up iPad (note: it can’t fully hold the weight of an iPad, but an iPad resting on the middle of the dash and leaning up against this mount is a little bit of a different story). So, I’m getting more use out of this extra mount than I actually intended, which is even better. If you don’t want to have a permanent mount stuck to your car, don’t trust a cup holder mount or suction mount, and don’t care for the unsightly and goofy window mounts, definitely get this simple and super useful vent mount.

Solid item. Very happy with it. Of all the mounts I have tried, I have learned a number of things about my personal preferences. 1) Item must have an adhesive backing. Adhesives can be replaced if they ever fail (haven't experienced that yet), but suction cups fail far more frequently. Suction cups require larger surface area, i.e. not optimal for vertical dash facing you. When you're mindful of which states are technically illegal to have window-based mounts, suction cups start to fall behind quite a bit. 2) Item must have a swivel lock, as seen in the images here where you can torque that spinning nut down to keep the position in place. I've had several mounts that just have a neck that is resistant, but turns and adjusts with enough pressure. These wear out quickly. No thanks. I like being able to lock it down tighter by hand to keep the best position. This mount has both of these items. It's simple and cost effective. Very happy with it. Pro tip - When installing, look at this from a logical perspective. I mounted mine, I was feeling awesome about myself, thought I was a rock star engineer, oh yeah I'm awesome. Slap phone in place, brilliant! You're a genius, Jason. Pull down the column to put it in drive, slapped my phone out of the mount. Derp. Luckily I had plenty of talc left on the mount when I gently pried it off the dash to mount it to a more fitting location, but point being, make sure you think about those kinds of things.
