Great quality, perfect for comfort-food grilled cheese sandwiches, and more. Amazing value, too. A staple in my office!
ANOTHER fantastic item I found in Amazon Pantry, at a better than club-store price! I like to have this at the office to make sensational grilled cheese sandwiches on sourdough bread - using a Foreman or similar grill/panni maker, you will have comfort food in about 3-4 minutes! Once opened, it is suggested you use it in a week or so - never an issue in my office! Terrific for salads, too. This is a staple! Yum!

Great when you're feeling really lazy or just want the taste of a little bacon if you can't control yourself around the pound sizes :)

Good Flavor; Mind Your Sodium
These had good flavor, without the work of cooking up and crumbling bacon. Not too caloric at 25 calories per tablespoon, but they are pretty high in sodium at 200mg sodium per tablespoon. I used these bacon bits with olive oil and garlic to flavor Brussels Sprouts, and everyone raved about them. (That's not all that easy to do with Brussels Sprouts, right?) I've also used them on salads. The pouch is very convenient to store and reseal.

Hubby Gets The Flavor Of Real Bacon In My Quiche Without Frying Up A Lb Of Bacon
I was very hesitant to buy Bacon Bits because we're trying to eat healthy. My husband loves bacon in things like quiche but I don't make it very often. This seems like a good solution. It's real bacon and not too much fat. It has a very nice flavor. I used it sparingly in my last quiche and hubby loved it. Problem solved. He gets his bacon flavor and I don't have to worry about all that extra fat from buying a lb of bacon and frying it up. The package does say you should use it within 14 days of opening the package but I think it's good for a little longer than that.

Packs a Punch of Bacon Flavor
Sure I would rather have freshly cooked bacon over these packaged bits. Who wouldn't? There are times though when cooking up a little bit of bacon just isn't practical. It is for those time that these are my favorite packaged bacon bit. Because they are actually made of real bacon, not some flavored bits of hard, crunchy mystery food product, they give the texture of bacon with a concentrated bacon flavor. I also prefer the bagged bits over a jar because it is so much easier to store as well as get all of the product out.

Should be a pantry staple.
Keep this in your pantry at all times. This isn't just for salad or soup. I've used this in a pinch for tons of recipes, and it delivers. There's no weird, processed flavor. I've eaten it straight from the bag and it tastes like it should--real bacon. It's not crispy, but on low heat in the skillet for three minutes will get you there. Put this right next to your bullion and gravy mixes. It has a very decent shelf life and doesn't require refrigeration.

Easy and taste fine
I don't use bacon bits a lot, so I cannot tell whether this is better than others. To me, it tastes good and I can control the amount I use. (BTW, my cats love them! Everytime I open the bag, they just show up in 1 second. I can only give them a small piece, but the cats look super happy.)

Tastes pretty good. Sprinkle in omelets
Tastes pretty good. Sprinkle in omelets, on pizza, on salads or in any kind of dish. I make a dish of cheese tortellini and add some alfredo sauce, some chopped tomatoes (seeds removed) and some cut up minced scallions. Sprinkle a little cheese on top. Voila !! What a quick and tasty dish.

Comparison: Oscar Mayer vs. Hormel
From time to time, I like to compare 2 similar products, to see how they stand up to one another (I am not a paid reviewer, I just do this because I like the information myself). In this case, I compared: Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits 4.5 oz vs. Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon Original 50% less fat, 4.3 oz. They are both offered here on Amazon for Prime, and have a Prime Pantry option as well. The actual product is photographed in front of their respective packaging. TASTE & TEXTURE: Both were definitely real bacon, imparted good smoky flavor to salads & cooking. Texture was the big difference. The Hormel has a less fat, and it is a significant difference, so that the pcs appeared drier. The Oscar Mayer had the juicy pcs of bacon fat, which, frankly, most people come to associate bacon with, and love (including me). You can tell the difference from the photographs. NUTRITION FACTS: Serving size for both was one tablespoon. Hormel was 25 calories per serving (15 from fat), vs. OM 30 calories (20 from fat). Hormel: 1.5 g total fat (2% RDA), .5 g saturated fat; OM: 2 g total fat (3% RDA), 1 g saturated fat. Hormel: 190 mg sodium; OM: 160 mg sodium. VALUE: Oscar Mayer claims to have .2 oz more in the pack, but they were almost the same on the kitchen scale (Hormel bag even looks slightly bigger and wider). Oscar Mayer is significantly cheaper. THE DOG'S OPINION: "I ate them too fast to tell the difference. Please buy more and rerun test." CONCLUSION: I personally preferred Oscar Mayer because of the fatty pcs. They were both good, but it is cheaper and more like fresh bacon (Hormel's is slightly saltier and "jerkier"). However, for dieters watching fat intake, Hormel might be the better choice. Update: Must add one more category :-( LONGEVITY: Unfortunately, the Oscar Mayer did not last very long outside the refrigerator. After just a week and a half, I started putting some on my salad and luckily caught it before I put too much in – there was mold all over pieces. Taking a picture. I guess it speaks to how fresh the product is and how free of preservatives. Can't really take away from the OM rating for that, because that's where the fresh bacon taste comes from, and it does say in very small letters on the package "keep refrigerated". Wish I saw that earlier. The Hormel was out for just as long and appears fine, possibly because it is drier and saltier, maybe preserved more. Putting that in the fridge just in case also.

BACON!
Where has this been all my life!? These are the best bacon bits ever and I love the bigger bag! I'm almost hesitant to even call them "bits" because that reminds me of the crunchy imitation stuff and this is NOT that at all. This is soft, chewy, bits of REAL bacon! They're SO good that I ordered a case on Subscribe and Save after picked them up on Prime Pantry! In a pinch, I threw them on top of some burgers (forgot to bring the bacon camping but had these on hand) while still on the grill and they were AMAZING! Bacon in EVERY bite with these bits! I use them in veggies, potatoes, soups, etc. and everyone LOVES them!
