GREAT PRODUCT - GREAT PRICE - SIMPLE - GREAT RESULTS
If you are looking to save your old slides & negatives but you are not wanting to make a career out of it nor take "How To" lessons to get it done right, this is perfect. It is compact & easy enough that paraplegic monkeys could operate this w/ great results. Scans so quickly, that I was not convinced that it was working. Has an option to view you work from the LCD screen, but the best feature is its ability to plug right into your TV for even better viewing. All for a price that's worthy of a well earn 5 star rating. Keep in mind when purchasing this product that You can only load five slides at a time & that becomes overly redundant; so order the extra 3 pack slide holder (sold separately) - you'll be glad that you did.

Jumbl Hi-Res Scanner is a Great Value !!!
I had great success going through over 4000 old slides and negatives and scanning the ones I wanted to keep. I am not a purist and was NOT looking for "professional quality" grade scans - I just wanted to get my negatives/slides scanned so that I can create albums at photo-sharing sites. Virtually all of negatives were clean anyway - just a few had obvious dust and fingerprints. This scanner met my needs perfectly and produces good quality (my opinion) JPEGs. Here are some things i learned that might be of benefit to you: - To handle the negatives/slides without leaving finger prints buy a box of vinyl (no powder) “Exam Gloves” in the Prescription Dept at Target, Walmart, CVS, etc. A box of 50 costs like $5-$6. Do not reuse the same pair for subsequent sessions as you will typically invert the gloves when to take them off your hands – meaning your sweat and hand oils are now on the outside of the gloves. It’s a real pain to turn these gloves inside out again – just use a fresh pair for any subsequent sessions as the gloves are cheap. - Use the soft eyeglass lens cleaning rag and Q-Tip to remove fingerprints on the slides or negatives. Once the slides/negatives are mounted in the holder, put the soft rag on the slide/negative then use the Q-Tip to gently wipe the rag on the slide/negative. - If there are dust specs on the slides/negatives, blow a breath or use a gloved finger to brush them off. Or, better yet, go to Office Max and buy a small can of “Compressed Air for Computer Keyboard Cleaning”. Once the slides/negatives are mounted in the holder, use the compressed air to blow away dust particles. - Using the 14MP resolution setting on the scanner, the internal memory will hold 54 items before you must export the images to your computer or other external storage. If you use the 22MP resolution setting, I think the scanner’s memory will only hold about 37 images. I did not buy an SD card – I just used my computer and its external hard drive to store the images. - The directions say that you should load the slides and negatives with the “matt (dull) side…facing you.” I found just the opposite. Choose a slide or negative that has writing in the picture area or look for cues in the picture (like which hand has a wedding ring on, etc) to determine the proper orientation. - If you mount a bunch of different slides or individually cut negatives in the holder, invariably you will mount one with the reverse side up because with older slides/negatives it can be difficult to tell which is the matt side or the shiny side. You can “flip” the image in the scanner by pressing the left Arrow button. But NOTE: once you do this, all subsequent images that you scan will be reversed until you press that left Arrow button again (or remove power to the unit) to reset the image default. - I found that if I got to pressing the different buttons on the unit too quickly that it is possible to “freeze” or lock up the unit where it won’t accept any commands from the buttons – not even the button to turn off the scanner. Simply unplug the scanner from its power source for a few seconds, then reconnect power and turn the scanner on. No harm done. All your previously scanned images are still in the scanner’s memory (or SD card if you used one). - There is no image counter on the scanner so you won’t know how many images the unit has stored until the little “Full” icon pops up. Then you must download the images to your computer. If you used the scanner’s USB accessory to supply power to the unit from your computer, images will be transferred through this same connection. - The scanner provides some capability for adjusting color balance. I only bothered to use it on slides/negatives which had been severely affected by age. It takes a bit of patience to keep making adjustments. LASTLY: I was NOT provided with a free scanner to test and write a review. This review is purely from my personal purchase and review.

Exactly what I was looking for!
In the early 30-60's slides were the way to capture your adventures and life events...Do you have old slides that you want to digitize? This little scanner is perfect...the slide tray holds your old slides in place covering and securing those frayed edges on your slides. Quick and easy capture and save mode..directly to your computer, or use it alone with an optional card. In just a few hours, I have been able to re-live my childhood cross country trips, birthdays and graduations, etc. with my family and I am planning to share these with my siblings (via thumb drive) as a priceless gift to them too....THANK YOU for making this so easy. Very good quality images produced...attached photo is from a 1961 slide (I am the little one in the red shirt with my mother and 2 older sisters looking across the "Painted Desert")

I am so glad I did
I wanted to sort and scan my Father's slides after he died. He was a prolific photographer and had over 5000 slides in cases. I read the reviews and decided on this product. I am so glad I did. Once the slide is loaded into the slide holder you literally just slide it into the Jumbl and push a button to scan and another to save and you have finished scanning and saving a slide in seconds. I bought an SDHC card to store pictures on Jumbl. It has an internal memory but I wanted lots of room for pictures. I did a project a few years ago and scanned in some slide with my big HP photo scanner and it took months to complete. I wish I had known about this product back then. I just transferred my scanned pictures to my PC using the USB connection. This scanner does allow some picture adjustment but I didn't bother since I can adjust the picture on the computer if I need to. What took the longest was sorting the slides as Dad was a very poor labeler of his pictures. You do have to sort and load the slides into the holder but that is true of all products. You cannot label the picture with this scanner but I did it with the computer once imported.

I was very pleased with the Jumbl 22MP
I was very pleased with the Jumbl 22MP. The process of scanning the slides went very quickly once you got your stuff organized. I first used the 22mm mode and found that the file size was very large (over 2.5 meg) and it didn't make a difference in the quality of the printed pictures or slide show that I produced using PowerPoint. I switched to the 14mm mode and then used Photoshop Elements to resize the image to 4X6 and saved it at Medium size (5) which generated about 850K files. These files were fine for 4X6 printed pictures or emails in fact I printed one of the family slides in 8 1/2 X 11 on my Cannon MG7120 and people were amazed at the clarity and rich color. I made some slide shows with 15-20 slides and then emailed them to family and they were all received well. I displayed them on my 27 inch monitor in full screen mode and they really turned out great. These slides were very old from 1954-1978 however they were in good physical condition. I really understand now how far we have come with digital cameras and wish I had a better know how using the editing features to correct some of the lighting and contrast capabilities of those programs that are available to enhance some of my slides. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Worked very well for me.
Having now used it for about 600 slides, its proved to be a great little scanner. the manual is very helpful.reproduces good quality images from my old 35mm slides. also has a brush in case you get any bits of dirt inside......can just brush it clean so theimages are good, very very happy with this scanner. For those wishing to invest more time and effort into the process there are additional menu options to adjust the colour compositions. I could have also spent a little more time and effort in cleaning the negatives before inserting them into the cartridge and scanner. It's easy to set up and use, load up the appropriate feeder tray comes with holders for several sizes of negatives without needing to remove and reload the tray, support a number of film formats including 110, 126 , super 8 and standard 35mm, built in LCD and simple buttons interface allow you to preview and enhance each photos before saving it. The picture quality looks good and real, true to the original, they are very happy with this product, bring them lots of memory. Verdict: Quick and easy way to convert old negatives to a modern-day format. I just spent an enjoyable evening converting old negatives and reviving some very old memories. I’m thrilled with the simplicity of the device and really chuffed with the output. I love how easy it is to get started turning all your old negatives and slides into great digital pictures. I can say is it worked very well for me and I am pleased with my purchase. this is easily a five stars.

Easy to Use, Nice Quality Images, Good Value
I purchased this Jumbl scanner to tackle a long-delayed project: scanning my parents' old 35mm slides. The scanner arrived about 2 weeks ago, and, to date, I've scanned approximately 120 slides. All in all, I've been very pleased with this product. It's easy to use, and the quality of the scans is quite good. The scanner's controls are intuitive to use and the device includes settings that adjust the color settings of the scans. The device and the accompanying slide trays both feel sturdy, and the instruction book is clearly written. I've been saving my scans to a SanDisk SDHC card, and then doing final editing on my Mac. I've also put the SDHC card in my television, and I must say that the scanned slides look great on the big screen. So, there are many pros. The only con I've discovered so far is that the slide holder that comes with the Jumbl is perhaps a bit too sturdy, in that it sometimes can be difficult to unsnap. This is a minor issue, though, and overall, I'm very satisfied with the device and eager to give the scanned slides as Christmas gifts to other members of my family.

Nice product
This scanner probably won't work well for a professional lab who needs industrial type equipment. But for the home user who just wants to scan old slides and photo negatives into .jpgs, it will work just fine. It couldn't be simpler to set up and use. The instructions (which are obviously translated from another language) are pretty indecipherable, but you don't really need them. Just plug it in to the computer and you are ready to go. If you want to save anything someplace other than your computer (it also works as a stand alone device), you will probably want to purchase an SD memory card - it does have an internal memory, but it is limited. Other than this highly recommended memory card, the scanner comes with everything you need and you will be viewing your negatives and slides within 5 minutes of opening the box. One neat thing about this scanner is that you can view your negatives on your TV (cable included). The scanner displays negatives as positives.

I believe this is the very best scanner solution available
I agree with the other positive reviews on this device - and thank them for helping me make the decision on this item. It looks and feels very well built - and after scanning over a hundred slides - it seems very durable. It's somewhat hard to comment on the quality of the scans - because I cannot really know the quality of my very old slides. But the best of my slide pictures turned out very good. For an example: on some of the slides that were very under-exposed and dark - using the brightness increase feature of the scanner seemed to have no effect; - while on others that just needed a little tweaking - the brightness feature worked very well. My conclusion is - nothing can bring back totally bad slides - smile. Overall - for the price - I believe this is the very best solution available. I especially liked using it with my computer attached. It uses USB power in scan mode and USB connection for uploads. I scanned a package of slides into the memory card on teh scanner - and then just punched a couple buttons on the scanner to upload the scans into the computer. After copying / editing the slides on teh computer - I used the computer to erase the copies on the scanner's memory card - then pushed a couple buttons on the scanner - and I'm back to scanning.
