Works for printers, but nothing else
Keep in mind that this is explicitly a PRINTER cable. The USB controller presents itself to the operating system as a print device, not a generic serial device. Therefore, this cable will not work for random devices that you want to connect to with DB25 cables. Instead, you'd need to get something like this,

This was my second choice - it should have been my first
This was my second choice. The first one I tried was from a different manufacturer and would not retain the driver when the usb cable was disconnected from the computer and reinserted. It also required downloading and installing a driver for the specific operating system being used. Out of the 20 times I tried, rebooted, removed and reinstalled driver it only functioned twice so it was returned after I plugged this one in and it sensed and loaded the necessary driver without having to separately perform the action. I tested it by removing and reinstalling the usb and it continued to function. After reinstalling the driver for the printer and configuring for my purposes everything worked fine. Did have some difficulty getting the printed to function as I wanted but that was not due to this converter. Very happy with this and should have ordered it as the first one.

Works like a charm with Windows 7.
I have an old HP printer (parallel cable ONLY) that keeps on kickin'. In the decade since buying the old printer, I have purchased 2 new printers. But I still prefer using the old printer because I can source cheap ink for it. Plus, the old printer just works, whereas the new ones are quite unreliable. Anyway, I purchased this cable and it worked great - literally a "plug & play"experience. I plugged it up to my PC, Windows 7 downloaded & installed both necessary drivers, and I immediately printed a document. Money well spent.

1998 Printer Still Lives on Win10
We have an old HP LaserJet printer from 1998 we keep around because, well, it still works. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the Windows XP desktop it was plugged into, which was purchased in 2002 and desperately needed retirement. This was the exact cable we needed to use this printer with a Windows 10 laptop. We plugged it in, turned on the printer, and within one minute Windows had automatically registered it as a working printer and it was ready to use. I'm astounded it was that simple, as I was expecting to need to scrounge around the Internet for drivers at the very least. Very impressed. The cable has a female DB-25 connector on one end and male USB on the other end which is exactly what we needed. Before buying it, I looked around at my local Fry's Electronics store, and they carried almost every single other possible combination of cables and adapters and gender-benders, but not this one.

Helped to Revive an old printer
I needed this to run my parallel printer box on a Windows 7 machine. Connected everything then turned on the printer and then the computer. WIndows automatically found a driver for the USB-Parallel cable, but the printer did not connect/ work. Shut down and restarted, WIndows found the driver for the printer it was now able to see. Everything is working perfect, just took two startups to get it all sorted automatically.

Helped me get an old printer up and working again!
I got an old HP LaserJet L4 and was excited to try it out when I realized that my computer had no way to accept the old school printer cable. That's when I got on the internet and found this baby. When It got here I hooked it up, plugged it in and my computer recognized it and found the driver for the printer right off the bat. No problems! I would definitely say if you have an old printer laying around that you'd like to use but don't have a way to plug it in... this is your solution!

Perfect adapter
This worked perfectly. My old HP Laserjet with only a parallel port still works!

Worked like a charm
After reading reviews of other parallel to USB adapters I was sceptical but this one seemed the best choice. My computer, with the newer Windows "saw' my older and very dependable HP Laserjet 5MP and saved it from an obsolete fate. Thank you, Sabrent.
