This BDL2000PL battery powered hand vacuum surpasses the Dust Busters of the past by a mile, even the higher voltage ones that had replaceable batteries. Those Dust Buster replacement batteries cost as much or even more then the vacuum did. I purchased this vacuum in Dec 2015, it's now March 2018. No regrets buying this vacuum. the vacuum still has great suction and the battery holds up well. Probably because it is no longer powered by NiCad batteries. Nice that the base can be mounted on the wall in your laundry room where I installed ours. You will learn to clean the filter and empty the dirt compartment regularly. Easy to empty the dirt compartment but also to easy to forget to clean the filter which takes some time to do. A sign filter needs cleaning is you will notice that the motor runs faster then normal. Imagine running the vacuum and then place your hand over the intake of the vacuum, motor speeds up. B&D claims this vacuum has cyclonic action to distribute the dirt all around the pleated filter which it does pretty well with small dirt particles but big stuff will stack up on top of the filter right where all the dirt comes in and not distribute around the filter so you really need to empty the filter chamber then. You may need a slim object like a screw driver to dislodge the big junk in front of the filter. Sand--you will find that sand will fall back out the vacuum opening when tilted down because the check valve is not that great so best to simply empty the dirt chamber. I have an air compressor so it has been easy to clean the removable filter. If no compressor it can be cleaned with garden hose spray or sink sprayer if you don't mind getting what was on the floor into your sanitary sink. I would buy this vacuum again.

Has worked great, fantastic suction. More than enough battery life. The young grand kids even get a kick out of using it. Then it died. Yep, exactly one year after I had purchased it, kaput. Would no longer charge. I looked up the invoice, clicked on warranty, saw that it has two years, then Googled BD repair facilities, had one 3 mile down the road. Brought it in at 8 am the next day, nice gentleman took my info, took the unit and said I would be receiving a new one as they don't repair these types. This was a Friday. On Tuesday the door bell rang and I saw UPS driving off. The new one was delivered. Fantastic and EASY return process. Thanks B+D. Enjoying my new vacuum, works fantastic.

This is the most marvelous invention in the world! I keep my hand-vac under the kitchen sink, where it can charge, then just pull it out as needed. And I use it constantly . Everything shows on hardwood floors, so after a meal or especially after I've been baking, I just grab the hand-vac and clean up the flour or sugar from the floor and countertop. Cleaning it is the easiest thing too. It comes apart for easy maintenance. Just be careful to hold onto the heavy part when disassembling it. I held onto the wrong part the first time and dropped the heavy part with the motor onto my brand new hardwood floors! The hand-vac survived fine, but I have a nice ding in the hardwood to remind me of my mistake. I have since bought one for my daughter and will buy another for my sister the next time it goes on sale. These hand-vacs are the best!

This vacuum runs for ever and has very good power. However, it loses suction after short periods of use due to clogging. We use this for cleaning up after the kids and this does not pick up cheerios or cereal well. Another complaint is that it gets clogged and then after you pick up a bunch of dirt, it just falls back out the nozzle when you turn it off because the dirt hasn't been captured in the compartment. I feel like I've spent more time cleaning / unclogging this thing than using it. Recently the battery died after about 1 year of use. I contacted Black and Decker and this product has a 2 year warranty. They sent me a new vacuum and I'm back in action. I've increased my rating because B & D stood behind their product.

We upgraded from an older Black and Decker flex vacuum, which is not a pivot head like this one, but has a flexible hose, and we are very pleased with this new one. This one packs a TON of suction power and so far has sufficient battery life to last. We have only run it continuously for maybe 10 minutes max, but the documentation says it should last 15 minutes. I also love that you are able to wash the filter in water and let it air dry - helps a lot to get rid of the dust in the filter cracks and crevices that you can't get rid of with the non-washable types of vac filters. The head has an attached pull-out crevice wand that helps to get into skinny spaces, and there is a flip-out brush attachment that comes in handy for dusting lamp shades. This one has seen a lot of use right out of the box, as we are remodeling our house and using it to suck up all the dust that comes along with construction, and we are very happy we made this purchase. The only slight concern I have is with the rubber flapper door inside the dirt chamber where the pivot head empties into the chamber. It seems rather flimsy and could easily rip when removing the filter. Not a problem so far and may never be, but this could do with an upgraded thicker rubber material or maybe some other one-way valve to match with the build quality of the rest of the vacuum. Other than this one small nit, this is a great purchase.

A friend recommended this dust buster after watching us struggle with a different brand (sometimes you just accept less for convenience until someone refers you to better). Amazon got it to us in 2 days, and I was totally wow-ed. Super strong suction, gets into all corners, charge lasts long enough to clean an entire floor. It picks up cat litter, kiddo crumbs, everyday dust, dirt tracked in from the yard, bugs I don't want to touch, and does a great job on pet hair. Use it to clean something yucky? No problem, just wash it out. We've had ours for 3 years, and I accidentally broke the plastic lid off (my fault). With the totally reasonable price and huge value for how much we've used it, I re-purchased the same unit and will get it same day from Amazon! We highly recommend it and have passed the suggestion on to other friends who have been equally as thrilled. This one is a BEST BUY!

I bought this B+D Pivot back in 2015. I do not baby my tools. I use them as intended and try to care for them. This vacuum has been a joy to use and own. I already bought one for a very good friend because he is as picky about keeping his vehicles clean as I am. He appreciates it as much as I do and bought one for his brother in Ohio. I am now buying another one for an old friend who has been helping me recover from an injury. She has used mine to pick up bandage remnants and the like after working on the wound dressing. She has commented on how well it works so I am sending her one. I am careful to only have it in the charger when it needs a charge. It is easy to rise out. The suction is fantastic. All in all, a well designed and built purposeful tool.

Edit on 2/16/16 - I contacted B&D via email and they promptly responded. They immediately shipped a replacement unit which arrived in less than 4 days. Way to go B&D! Great customer service and product coverage. This swift response made all the difference in the world and seeing how they handled and backed their product, I would now definitely buy B&D products again without any hesitation. Back to 5 stars. 4/12/16 - I would have given this product 5 stars but it stopped functioning properly after less than 1.5 yrs of very light/infrequent use. The unit design incorporates a "progressive start" where the motor slowly starts up and reaches a full suction power in about 3 seconds. Now, when I turn it on, the motor just keeps turning over and over trying to start it up as if the battery has no juice to push it over the limit to begin creating full suction. The battery is charged because once in a blue moon the motor turns a few times and the unit starts up. At that point it runs perfectly with full suction. But the issue persists to the point that it's useless. Otherwise, so far it's been a fantastic unit and it's a power monster for vacuuming. the 20V battery is excellent and provides a ton of power. The suction is outstanding. It conveniently rotates into multiple positions as well which I liked. Unfortunately it looks like there are some motor/electric issues that prevent it from starting up correctly. I wrote to B&D to see if they'd do something about it. If they stand behind their product and fix it, i will come back and update to 5 starts, otherwise it stays at two stars at best. I've had cheaper dust busters that lasted for years until the battery would no longer hold much charge. it's too soon to have a product of this type go defective.

Portability and power is great, its encouraged my 5year old son to clean hard to reach places in his room and around the house. Functionally it changes angle which is easier to get between cushions. Cleanups are simple with the side door, but sometimes long debris like grass, straw, dry spaghetti noodles, get stuck in the spot between the snorkel and have to be manipulated out which is a hassle, but works well in spite of that. The battery lasts about 20-25min. Which is adequate for me, but my son roams the house looking for things to vacuum up with it on. I ordered this at a great price and paid extra for next day shipping and it showed as delivered in tracking history, but I never received it. I sent an email asking for details on who accepted it and where it was delivered and they sent another out for delivery immediately, I was in disbelief, it arrived and it was exactly as I'd hoped, simple and easy to use. Yes, I'd buy another if/when it wears out. Design improvement: better access to the snorkel to the dustbin for easier cleaning of jam-ups. I had hoped to keep it in my SUV for easy cleanups of tiny gravel and dry grass, but I can't keep it out of the house very long before someone starts asking where it is, cause they need it.
