I dont have children in my home, I actually bought this to prevent myself from accidentally turning off the furnace. lol Its not my fault, I just bought a home with a staircase to the basement and instead of having a normal lightswitch at the top of the staircase, some idiot installed the emergency shut-off switch for the furnace right where you would expect to find a lightswitch. I dont think I’ll ever get used to having to walk all the way down the stairs before reaching for a lightswitch, so I bought this shield to cover the furnance switch. It actually comes in 2 pieces : a sort of backplate which is screwed in, then the actual cover part is a square box that snaps into the backplate and covers the toggle switch. If there ever was an emergency, the switch could be easily reached by sticking your finger into the top or bottom of the cover, or just squeeze & pull it right off. Its worked so far, as I have already mindlessly palmed it about a dozen times, and it seems to stay on pretty well.

We have a 2 year old and an 11 month old and needed to protect the switch to our gas fireplace. First off, it's crazy simple to install. Remove the existing screws, place the base of this over the light switch, then use the longer screws that come with this product to stabilize the base. Note that we have a double light switch, and this product worked great to cover just one of the two switches. Once the base is installed, simply press in the sides of the cover piece and push into the base. It wasn't difficult to do, but it wasn't easy either, which is good. It seems to have enough pressure to stay put. Other reviewers noted that this was easy for their kid (or anyone, I guess) to remove. At least so far, I have not found this to be true. I can tug on it and hit it a little, and it hasn't budged. It might with more force, but just about anything would. It's in there solid enough for us. Our kids, so far, have also not tried to mess with it.

I love this thing! I bought it because one of my parrots discovered what the light switch does. For months, I've been enduring the lights being turned on in the middle of the night when my parrot decided it would rather play than sleep. The cover is super easy to install. It took me like two minutes. Just unscrew the screws for the switch cover, place the clear back plate over the switch, then put the screws back in. The clear tube then snaps right on to the back plate. I don't have long fingers, but I can easily flip the switch. However, fat bird beaks won't fit! No more late night play sessions for the parrot! She'll have to wait until morning.

While transitioning out of the crib and into a toddler bed our youngest gets up and turns lights on and off. We found this and it’s amazing. Neither of the kids (2 and 5) can access the lift switch but it’s easy for us. It was easy to install! Highly recommend it!

This definitely does the job. We had a problem with our daughter switching the light on the second we left the room at night at bedtime. She was staying up late and passing out with the light on! This light switch guard eliminated the problem. It's easy for parents to use (you just reach up over or under the tube to turn the light on/off) but little fingers cannot reach. Installation was a breeze and it will be easy to remove when she gets a little older. I'd recommend it to anyone having issues keeping their littles in bed.

If you need a cover for a light switch in a child's room, this is the one to get. We were having trouble with my son getting up and turning the lights on when he was supposed to be sleeping. This is great because adults can turn the light on and off but his little fingers can't reach it. So now he knows he can't and it isn't even a fight anymore. We are so glad we got this light switch cover. Would definitely recommend it.

This light switch guard has worked *beautifully* on both my 2 and 3 year olds, but is easy enough to get around that my 7 year old can still turn on the light if he needs to. It's easy to install (really easy), easy to pop on and off, and utterly confounding to toddlers. The one minor problem I can note is that the transparent cover can be a little hard to spot if it falls on the floor, which is especially a problem when an adult doesn't realize they've dropped it and then steps on it. That will break it into sharp plastic shards, so just take care not to do that. I like it enough, though, that I'm buying another to replace the cover part.

MUUHAAAHAHAHAHAA My son hates us for this. Which means it did exactly what it was supposed to.

As with most of the other reviewers here, I purchased this because my two year old has grown tall enough to reach the light switch in her bedroom, and she’s been turning on the light after we put her down at night. This works by installing a clear plastic tube around the light switch, that is open at both ends. An adult finger can easily reach inside to flip the switch, but a tiny toddler finger cannot. As opposed to some child proofing items, it’s really not that much of a hassle to use the light switch with this installed - unlike the cupboard doors I avoid opening because the child proofing on them is so annoying. We are very pleased with this product. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, and now it stays dark in the room after bedtime and sleep training is going much better. My toddler is usually pretty determined to foil such things, but she has not managed to remove this cover. Also, installation was fast and easy.

I ordered this because my 2.5 year old twins were turning their light on and staying up after I put them to bed. I had tried even duct taping the light switch and they would still get through it. This was SO easy to install and so far they haven't been able to figure it out. It is really easy for an adult to access the light switch as you can put your finger from the top to push the switch down or put your finger up from the bottom to push the switch up. So glad I bought this!
