I have a fairly new LG 37-inch TV with no headphone jack that I connected to the converter box. I have some loud medical equipment for breathing treatments and I wanted to use my headphones so I could watch TV while undergoing the treatments. With both wired and wireless headphones I got nothing but a buzzing with loud clicking. I contacted the seller who repeated the instructions that came with the unit. I contacted LG and they told me that no settings needed to be changed, that the TV automatically read the equipment and set it accordingly, that it was set correctly and that either the unit was defective or it was unable to read the equipment through Toslink setting. Amazon refunded my money. LG said that they would only support sound bars and not converters. Revised Nov 7: I changed by initial rating to 5 stars at the request of the seller so they would not be penalized for what is likely a problem with the LG TV. In order for this device to work the audio output settings of the TV need to be manually changed. According to LG there is no way to do that, the TV automatically adjusts to pick up whatever device is connected to the Toslink, but LG also said that they do not contemplate a device other than a sound bar or an amplifier and had not tested it with any other device. The seller has been very good about trying to resolve the issue and I cannot fault them because the device did not work on my TV. I received credit from Amazon which was charged back to the seller, so I am satisfied.

I had an initial issue with my Digital to Analog Audio Converter and requested assistance from ESYNIC customer support . Their prompt and responsive "stateside" assistance was impressive. Also impressive was the build quality of this device. The fit and finish of the metal box and external connector was flawless. First the power cable needs to be plugged into a 1 amp +5 Volt source (minimum) by the way. The cable assembly itself seemed to be of just average quality but worked fine . Initially, my new Samsung NU7100 TV's audio/optical output did not work with this device (although the optical output worked fine with the optical input to the Samsung sound bar). The key to success for me was buried in the TV's SOUND SETTINGS. After setting the Sound output to " Audio Out/Optical, locate the specialized setting area at the bottom of the Sound setting area and insure that BOTH the HDMI INPUT AUDIO FORMAT and the HDMI OUTPUT AUDIO FORMAT are BOTH set to "PCM". My problem was hard to diagnose because the sound bar works perfectly with the HDMI Input set to either "Bitsteam" or "PCM". I now know that this Audio Converter will only work with the HDMI INPUT set to "PCM". In summary an excellent company and product!

This box works well and would get 4 or even 5 stars, but the USB power cable is very cheaply made. After one month the cable began to show itself unreliable where the slightest movement causes the box to loose power. ====UPDATE==== I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with the seller of this item! Their support should be a model and example to others. They made good on the faulty USB power cable where everything is now working perfectly. Thank you so much for taking the time to care about one customer. I look forward to continued business with you.

My new tv did not come with a headphone jack so I bought this device to convert the optical to analog so I can use my headset. After installing it made a lot of noise contacted customer service and they helped me get this device to work. Sounds very good and works fine. Connected my stereo computer speakers to my tv and very pleased with the sound thanks to this device. Yes I would recommend this to others to buy it. Such a shame tv manufacturers are cutting corners and not installing audio out for headphones and not including center stands forcing people to mount tvs on the wall or buy large bulky stands or universal center stands. Any thing to force customers to spend extra money. So the bottom line if a person wants to use a external speaker source they have to buy a device like this to adapt headphones or external speaker or buy a soundbar.

I have an Alienware Alpha computer and the only sound I had was through the hdmi cable and the monitor and it was very hard to hear.. I researched and found the only other option was an optical port. This adapter allowed me to connect to the optical port and then connect my speakers to it. I researched for a solution on Amazon and found the Esynic Dac and thought it was just what I needed and came with everything I needed. I used the 3.5mm port to connect my bose computer speakers but it also had the option for RCA jacks. I couldn't be happier with my purchase I now have crystal clear sound that I can adjust the volume on.

I wish I didn't have to buy this but I did and it works amazing! I wanted to hook up my PS4 to my monitor but unfortunately, there is no HDMI audio. This did exactly what I wanted to, which is grab the audio from the PS4's optical port. No lag that I can see and audio sounds great. For the price, it was not a bad solution.

I needed something to convert my digital to analog for my wireless headphones. They are obviously getting dated from a tech sense but still work really well so this was an inexpensive solution to maintain them with my new TV. I can now sleep again while the wife watches TV. Good price. Fast prime shipping per usual and a worthy purchase.

This unit worked great after the person who received it as a gift found out his optical cable was the problem he had. And would've been easier if he'd tried the new one supplied with DAC before he had me come a check it out. Worked perfectly once changed and haven't heard one complaint since he started using it. Would recommend this anyone and give the 5th star for the company e-mailing after a couple of weeks to check on their product to see if there were any questions. Thanks

It works once I switched the audio output to PCM from my TV's settings like the instructions on this page say, otherwise I hear only silence. I also got an amplifier with a remote because the volume coming from my cable TV box is low, especially after the signal travels through the TV and this converter. And of course you can't control the volume with your TV's remote. For me, this product did exactly what I needed to do. I have hearing problems so I was excited when my wife bought a television with a headphone jack for Christmas. I thought I could plug in my wireless headphones and customize my volume while my wife watched television at a lower volume or slept. Unfortunately, as soon as a device was plugged into the headphone jack, no audio was sent to the speakers eliminating the possibility of two people hearing at the same time. Plus, the headphone jack was in the back center of the television making it difficult to find and impractical to use frequently. The television also has a TOS optical output. Okay, but my headphones don't exactly plug into that. So I took a gamble to see if this would work. The physical installation was a breeze however that's because I have an available USB port on the back of my television. I would have been upset if this was for my old television since I would have had to sacrifice one of my devices for this. This adapter uses the small wattage from a USB port for power. This device also requires you to change the sound configuration in your television so that your television's digital audio is configured to use PCM (Pulse-code modulation) or LPCM (Linear pulse code modulation). If breaking out your original remote control to go into the settings and looking for these changes makes you queasy, you may seek a professional or a local geek (guilty as charged) before leaping in. If you are an audio file this may not be the way you want to go. You won't get Dolby Digital+ or DTS-HD using this conversion. For me, this worked as expected and as designed. So I'm very happy with the product. Now I can listen to any audio coming from the television at my own customized volume while my wife can still adjust the speaker volume to her preference. Finally, don't expect a lot of instructions to come with the product. I wrote more in this first paragraph than you're going to see in the instruction manual. You should know what to do with it before you get it.
