Saved our camping trip!!

We Just got back from a 4 day camping trip.When we arrived at our camp site the first thing I did was connect the power to the travel trailer via Camco 30 amp Power defender. The wife started the A/C and proceeded to unpack our stuff. She turned on every light in the trailer and the radio too! So with the Refrigerator on, all the lights on, the A/C on full blast and the radio on, It was just too much for our little travel trailer. The Power defender shut it all down without tripping the main breaker or any breakers or fuses in the panel. I shut off all lights and A/C and about 5 minutes later it reset and we had full power again! I think this thing saved our camping trip and did its job very well. We are very happy we got this and would recommended it from this experience.

Skeptical Before Purchase, After Use I Believe It's Worth Every Penny.

I was skeptical on whether or not we needed it, but we travel with two pets and this is the only model that automatically resets itself back on in the event of a power surge. On a recent trip, we were staying in an rv park when we encountered rough storms. Our power went out several times within a couple of hours and every time the power went out, the surge protector powered everything back up, including A/C without me having to go outside in storms and manually reset at the box. I was concerned by other reviews regarding the size, but I was able to find a home in one of our storage compartments in our travel trailer and I really don't believe the size is a bother. Peace of mind knowing that the A/C will power back on if we're away from our camper makes it worth every penny.

Great buy! Already paid for itself!!!!!!!

Already has paid for itself as I have a 2017 30' travel trailer and the very first time plugging into an rv park it showed us errors in the parks wiring. They corrected it once I showed them the codes! Get one! Can't beat it for the price!

Worked as expected.

Used the circuit analyzer for the first time at a state campground. It showed that our pedestal was properly wired, then sat in the background for the four days we were camped. It was virtually invisible in the 30 amp electrical box so less worry about theft, since "out of sight, out of mind". Can't tell whether surge protection works because there weren't any surges. So far am very pleased with the purchase.

Low cost solution for a high cost risk

This works well enough. It is not a high end unit, and will not be the sure-fire way to protect your camper or RV. However, for a low cost solution that greatly reduces you risk, this is perfect. The lights will tell you if the outlet is cross wired, and let's be honest....we have all stayed at a place that was so tore up, wore down, and cheap looking that you are certain they conduct their own repairs instead of hire an electrician....meaning you could very likely be connecting your negative to a positive....scary when you consider the cost of everything that could be destroyed in the camper not to mention the fire risk. This will not protect you all the time, but plug it in before you connect and you can spot a bad wiring job. And if it is properly grounded, like all outlets should be, it will bleed off spikes into the ground instead of your rig. Use it on a generator however and you lose the protection of the ground and thus the surge protection. In summary, you read the chart and compare the lights....if all good then plug in. If not, then contact the person you paid and demand a refund for the site and move to one that will not destroy your rig!

I would recommend everyone to get one

I was surprised on how many RV things Camco makes. By doing some research on surge protector Camco came om top in quality and price. I would recommend everyone to get one. It just a piece of mind. By not having one, just thing of the cost of repairs.

Excellent product this is all you should need

Excellent product this is all you should need! Heads up if you're in an RV park and you plug in to their power it is your responsibility to provide your own circuit protector. I went to an RV park that had a spike in power and I burned out two TVs in my motorhome. The park is not responsible for that so you need to get a circuit protector. You don't need all these big fancy things this one will do the job just fine. Not sure why I did not ever have one of these before my mistake. Camco makes great products and when I can purchase their products I do. I'm an Amazon customer and this is a good product. I like it so much I bought my mom and dad one for their fifth wheel. Mark

Works perfectly for almost 2 years now

Purchased December 30, 2015 for $65.76; using outside continuously [it is attached to my RV power cord which is attached to a Camco 30 Amp RV Extension Cord w/Power Grip Handle then all that goes to my land's electric breaker box] since Feb. 2016. Exposed to dirt, wind, rain and high sun temps in the summer and freezing in the winter. Great way to rule out problems when electric has gone out or if a circuit breaker has "flipped" to off. High Quality construction; and NO problems. Excellent buy. Highly recommend to have one of these on hand if you are a RV-er!

We had a different brand in the past that cost much more. This surge protector is great and we love the indicators on the front. It is so much easier to just look at it and know all is OK. Glad we bought it.

Great item, BUT CHECK THE LIGHTS

Great item, BUT CHECK THE LIGHTS!!! I got into the unfortunate bad habit of just using this as a surge protector and not checking the lights for proper circuitry as soon as I plug it in. So two days ago when I first plugged it in I just plugged my power right into it and went about my business.30 minutes later I could smell burning plastic and I found one of the power prongs completely smoked but it did save my rather expensive trailer power cord. The best part was that the campground owner wrote me a check for the replacement cost of this unit! Among search protectors this unit is probably the most economical but it is worth every penny!
