I am a dental hygienist who recommends this product to my patients as one of the only two mouthwashes I would want them to use daily. No alcohol and uses chlorine dioxide to kill the nasty bacteria that leads to bad breath and periodontal disease. No having to go for the burn and can use it flavored or a light mint flavoring which they add. A side effect is that it also whitens with no sensitivity. I also order it for my family from Amazon at a price better than our dental supplier. 😁

I found this amazing product after reading "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye" by Ellie Phillips which basically tells you to (in this order which is important): 1) Use CloSYS for 30 seconds and do not rinse 2) Brush your teeth for 2 minutes (I floss first) 3) Use an anti-sceptic rinse like Listerine for 30 seconds 4) Either rinse with fluoride for 1 minute or (in the case you don't trust fluoride) use Xylitol as a rinse to counteract the alcohol in the anti-sceptic rinse I healed 3 serious cavities in about 2 months. The dentist couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it. I have xrays. Blew the dentist away. Plus my teeth were whiter than they had ever been before. Get that book too, explains it all, shows the scientific research, talks about stuff like xylitol gum, and has a LOT more info. So, I looked up the chemicals to find out how this stuff works. Here's a list of the ingredients in order of their amounts: water, stabilized chlorine dioxide, trisodium phosphate, citric acid First, a small explanation on where cavities come from. The two types of bacteria most frequently associated with cavities and periodontal disease are anaerobic, which means they live where there is little oxygen. Oxygen in your saliva actually kills them but if you sleep with your mouth open or have dry mouth, you will have problems (and bad breath). Sugar is also a problem, but surprisingly not because of sugar. But that same bacteria eats the sugar and literally poops acid that wrecks your teeth. Yes, bacteria poop is the stuff that rots your teeth. Ask your dentist. So here's how CloSYS works: 1) Chlorine dioxide: attacks the volatile sulfur gases in your mouth, neutralizing them and the smell they produce. Also produces oxygen that kills the anaerobic bacteria in your mouth. 2) Trisodium phosphate: An alkaline solution used as a cleaning agent, food additive, stain remover, and degreaser. This safely cleans and bleaches your teeth. That's it. It works well and is worth the price tag. I give it 5 stars. And just in case, so that you know this is a real review, I have no association nor do I work with any company for this review including the book I mentioned. I'm just regular guy with other reviews on Amazon here. Just thought I'd help and spread the word.

Dentist was recommending a deep cleaning, scaling etc, hundreds of dollars. Got more than one opinion; my worst pocket was over nine millimeters, most in the five-seven range. Fast forward a year of daily closys rinsing prior to brushing, then listerine and act (fluoride rinse) after wards , and chewing spry xylitol gum after meals - dentist was shocked! 3mm or less on all teeth!

MUST HAVE for everyone. Say bye bye to bad breath, gum disease and infections. I had best dental checkup after using it for 1 mth. Will continue to use it forever.

Bought this due to the absence of "natural flavors" on the ingredients as I am allergic to some of those compounds, and was pleasantly surprised to find that some hidden tonsil stones came out after my first use! As someone who was cursed with tiny, hard to reach tonsils, it's always been hard to get any out even if I can see them :( it did leave a gross tonsil stone taste in the back of my mouth that I wasnt able to wash out, but it was gone the next day and I haven't tasted it with subsequent uses. Would give it 10 stars if I could!!!

As a lifelong user of Listerine, I was pleasantly surprised at how effective this rinse is without the alcohol and overwhelming taste. I switched to the Closys toothpaste and rinse a few months ago because the sulfates in regular toothpaste, and the alcohol in Listerine, was killing my gums and making the corners of my mouth crack open. Closys is gentle, and because of that, you can brush and swish longer. My dental hygienist has noticed a difference in my gums and the amount of staining on my teeth since I started using this system. This rinse is unflavored, so rinsing is like swishing with water, but my mouth feels clean without the overpowering mintiness of other mouthwashes. It does come with a tiny bottle of pure mint oil that you can add to your rinse if you want, but I enjoy the unflavored rinse as is. I don't have a bad breath problem, but my husband does when he eats certain things. I used to have him rinse with Listerine, but it did nothing to eliminate the bad breath, just sort of tried to mask it with mint. When he rinses with this, even without using the toothpaste, his breath is good. It truly eliminates the source of bad breath. Give this a try if you want to be kinder to your mouth, or if you have bad breath problems.

My dental implant dentist recommended this product and I can’t rave enough about it! It has completely changed my oral hygiene for the better. Because my mouth is sensitive to the flavored mouthwashes on the market I couldn’t use any of them. This mouthwash is clean and clear and taste 100% natural. It simply leaves your mouth feeling completely fresh and bacteria free. I have not had a hint of gingivitis since using it. If you prefer the mouthwashes that are green or blue your teeth will become stained over a short period of time. That fact was just an added bonus to using CloSYS. I travel with the travel size bottle in my bag. Won’t leave home without it. Give it a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It is quite a large bottle to store. It will take up prime bathroom counter real estate. My only wish is that it becomes available in drugstores soon. I loathe breaking down Amazon boxes.

So one of my wisdom teeth that came in sideways, so food gets trapped and causes a horrible odor. I have taken up flossing and been using a detox rescue mouthwash (oil) and rescue detox mouth tooth powder. Those have been natural ways for me to get my teeth/gums in good shape. But every day I floss that back tooth even after brushing and flossing my teeth. I will re-floss in-between that back tooth and the floss still smells bad. I used this mouthwash... did a re-floss and the floss doesn’t smell!! It’s a miracle! I was hoping the natural stuff would kick in and get rid of that back tooth odor but for people in a bind like me that need fresh breath today and not in a month or two. This product works!

As a chronic bad breath sufferer, this stuff is a god-send. I've been using it for years and I will never go back to the alcohol mouthwashes. I've always brushed and rinsed daily, only ever had ONE cavity my entire life, and have no gum disease, but for some reason my breath has been a problem since childhood. I tried some "smart" and "thera" -peutic mouthwashes, but Closys is the only one that actually worked for me. Even after coffee, garlicy and onion-filled foods, my breath stays inoffensive. Tongue scraping + brushing + flossing + rinsing with Closys = all day long fresh breath.

I recently had the most excruciating and gigantic canker sores (the "major" type, about 1 cm across) in the back on my mouth and near my throat. which lasted for weeks. After reading a recommendation for CloSYS on a dental site, I gave it a try. Wow. Whether it was coincidence or not, the ulcers began to heal within about 2 days of rinsing and gargling twice a day. Perhaps I had a secondary infection of some sort, but whatever was going on, CloSYS seems to have helped tremendously. Additionally, the rinse is quite pleasant to use in the presence of mouth ulcers; no stinging at all. I let my doctor know about the rinse and he's keeping the name on hand for other sufferers of canker sores (aphthous ulcers).
