Pleased with Purina
Since I found out my cat has an allergy, I switched to grain free cat food. I have been using Purina Beyond grain-free cat food for about 6 months and there is a definite improvement in my cat's skin. Previously, she licked herself until she bled. Someone suggested I try grain free cat food and I have found this to be the best. I combine it with Purina Grain Free wet food and both cats seem to love it because they clean their bowls. Now my cat has quit licking herself raw and the fur has grown back. I wish I had known this sooner. She is 11 years old and has had this allergy for most of her life.

7 cats are rating 7 paws up!
Update May 16, 2018… we purchased our first 3-bags for about 16-bucks a bag June 7, 2017 and it was both a deal and something that was good for our cats… and they liked it. Today, the price has reached 26-bucks a bag and even with Subscribe & Save another grain free alternative bites the dust because once it becomes popular the price goes up to the point that our prior first choice, Taste of the Wild Rocky Mountain Venison & Salmon, is now more cost effective. I’m not sure why some cat food gets a bad review because a cat doesn’t eat it. We have 9 here in our rural home, two are strays that stop by for a meal and one stays inside in poor or cold weather, and though they can be finicky they all eat pretty much what we put in front of them when they’re hungry. They get fed 3 times a day and canned food is the morning meal so perhaps having nothing out from about 6 PM to 6 AM makes this pretty inviting. We had one cat that was about 17 years old who passed away not too long ago and all she can eat is canned food. I can’t say how good it is but the price was good at about 16-bucks with Subscribe & Save it’s a deal for us and not available locally which is 45 miles away… as is the Vet. We feed them dry food… the grain free expensive kind during the day… for the other 2 meals a day. The problem is the strays want the better stuff rather than the Purina Seafood Sensations we try to keep them on. Hiding the food dishes or pushing two cats outside while others eat is hard so now we mix this with it and they seem to be happy… the other cats seem to be liking it also though we prefer to keep them on the Taste of the Wild. We have a few acres that are total fenced so the cats seem to feel pretty safe from all the dogs that run loose. I guess they’re not really strays because they rarely stray more than a 100-yards from the house and can hear a cat food can pop from the other side of the field. We had a cat develop some urinary problems a few years ago: bladder stones which restricted her ability to urinate and caused some bleeding and she was trying to urinate all day long to help relieve the irritation. The Vet claimed it was from the poor ingredients in some dry cat food that causes the stones because the cat can’t process enough liquid to handle the food. He wanted to put her on a special diet with a Science Diet dry special blend for Urinary Tract and then onto one of their regular formula kibble for life. That seemed a little useless because we were feeding the cats some decent kibble to begin with like Purina One. We did a search and found that it was true that a lot of filler in most dry cat food was grain and that is hard for cats to process. The diet we found involved a home made cat food of grinding up some rabbit and chicken and adding some vitamins. Tried it and it worked but it was a mess to make, rabbit is not cheap or easy to find and it takes up a lot of freezer space. Back to another search and a viable alternative seemed to be canned cat food, with some limitations, and a grain free kibble. The canned food doesn’t have as much fillers and the main ones for us are poultry, fish & meat varieties in pâté or gravy form. That’s what the cats are on now and the kidney/urinary problem is gone, their coats are nicer, their urine is more, but urinates fewer times, now because they don’t have to consume so much water to process the grain feed and they really seem to like what they’re eating. We feed them Friskies & 9-lives in the cans and Blue Buffalo Wilderness, Merrick Before Grain, Felidae, Natural Balance Pea or Taste of the Wild in dry food. The dry food is getting pricier, the bags are getting smaller and the free shipping deals are disappearing so it’s more of a challenge now to get a deal but when we do we buy extra. Can’t say enough about how well this new diet seems to be working and any saved trip to a Vet pays for a lot of food. In general, the cats prefer a dry food that’s fish flavored. What we’re doing is based on the information provided by Lisa A. Pierson, DVM on Making Cat Food (catinfo.org) and she is of the opinion that cats need the bones which makes the grinding process more difficult so the canned foods do have the bones. We tried grinding our own mix of chicken & rabbit but that wore thin fast and I can’t raise either with the intention of killing them to feed cats. We still feed them some kibble because feeding all these cats gets pretty expensive. It’s a shame packaging is getting smaller and prices do nothing but remain the same or go up. We purchase the Merrick and Wild Buffalo grain free dry foods and the bags are now down to 11 lbs. each. However, when doing the math the canned food is still less expensive per serving. As long as Amazon keeps giving deals on this we’ll keep buying it, the cats will keep eating it and that’s worth 5 stars… in my opinion. We had Subscribe & Save on some other brands but they disappear soon since it’s heavy to ship and it’s recently disappeared on some of the bagged food or the price has gone up significantly. I’m posting this review slightly modified for every cat food we purchase rather than writing a new one for a particular brand. As an example, If it continues… and the price continues to rise we’ll stop buying them and even with 15% off (now reduced to 5% off on most items and it’s a rare to see 15% anymore) and free shipping they cost more than at the food store… end of price increase rant! I just received this a few days ago on Subscribe & Save and checked the listing today and there was a 40% off coupon. However, the only way to get that coupon was to cancel the subscription and subscribe again. I did exactly that and it saved me nearly 8-bucks but I’ll end up with a delivery before I need it but for the savings it’s worth it. I’ve cancelled subscriptions many times to get a better deal and when you do it locks in the lower price for your next delivery and then you have to keep checking but sometimes it’s well worth the effort though, in general, I find micromanaging my subscriptions to be a real pain.

The world's pickiest cats all love it!
My youngest kitten (7 months old) has food allergies. We've narrowed it down to wheat, corn, or soy. I have a total of five cats and trying to find a food they would all eat seemed impossible. The ones my kitten could eat and liked, my older cats hated. The ones the older cats like that the kitten could have, the kitten hated. Not all of them could agree on a food they all liked. We went through every high end grain-free brand there was at the pet store that my vet recommended. My friend asked if I had tried this, but I'd never heard of it. I bought a bag at Walmart since none of the pet stores carried it. I was skeptical. My kitten ate it, she liked it, and she didn't break out or vomit. Then the rest of them came sniffing around. Hallelujah, they all LOVED it.

My house is cleaner because of this cat food. Not even joking!
I was feeding my cats Science Diet for a while, thinking it was good for them, but they seemed to be vomiting a lot more than cats should, I mean like almost everyday I was cleaning up cat vomit between two cats. So, I began the hunt for a new food. I was told Blue Buffalo was a good brand of quality food, but my cats would not touch it. They ended up losing weight while I had them on the Blue Buffalo, simply because they would not eat enough of it. I tried some other quality foods I found at the pet store in the natural foods department, but my cats wouldn't eat that stuff. One day at the grocery store, I just wanted to get something, anything, for my hungry kitties, and I found the Purina Beyond brand, which seemed a better quality than typical grocery store cat food. I bought the Purina Beyond Chicken flavor and my kitties gobbled it up so quick; they loved it! BUT it sure made them so stinky, I couldn't stand it. I liked that they liked it and the convenience of not having to go to a specialty store, so I decided to try a different flavor/protein content (can't remember which one it was), and I saw some improvement, but not enough. Then I tried this grain free version since I read that cats don't really digest grain well (they are carnivores, afterall), and finally found a food that they like that doesn't make them stinky or vomit-y. It's convenient that I can pick it up at the grocery store if I happen to run out, though I prefer the convenience of ordering on Amazon. It's also a much better value to purchase the bigger size (though I recommend picking up a small bag to try it out first). My kitty is nice and plump and happy, my house doesn't have cat vomit all over the carpet, and the litter box doesn't smell like anything. I finally found a winner. Another thing I like, and I don't know if it's just my kitties that did this, but they always made such a mess with the Science Diet. They would crunch through the giant pieces, then they wouldn't eat the little pieces that broke off. I was always stepping on the crumbs and the bottom of their food dish would be full of crumbs that I had to throw out because they wouldn't eat them. With this Purina Beyond, the pieces are smaller than the Science Diet, so they eat the whole thing. The Blue Buffalo had tinier pieces, but my kitties would dig through the bowl and it would spill all over the floor (probably because they didn't like it). But if this kind spills, they eat it up. So, this cat food ends up being less messy in that way, too. Who knew that all my little complaints about having cats (stepping on cat food crumbs, stinky litter box, cleaning up vomit everyday) was directly related to the food I was feeding them. Now that I don't have those issues anymore, having a cat is even more enjoyable. Side note: brush kitty's hair regularly to get the loose hairs off him so he doesn't get any in his tummy when he grooms himself and you won't have to worry about hairballs anymore, either.

Stops our cat from vomiting
Our cat loved his old food and is very particular but he was always vomiting. The vet couldn't figure out what was wrong because nothing fixed the issue. On a whim I changed his food to this grain free and it stopped. We tried a different grain free brand when our store didn't carry this any more and he wouldn't eat the other brand. We accidentally bought the wrong kind (not grain free) and he immediately started vomiting again. Switched him back to this grain free and the problem stopped immediately. Great price on Amazon.

Happy Kitty Happy Life.
After feeding my cat Purina One for over a year, she started having some skin issues and was throwing up. I decided to change her food to see if that would solve the problem. Unfortunately for both of us she's an incredibly picky eater. I tried two different kinds of Blue Buffalo as well as the Rachel Ray Nutrish and both were a no-go. She wouldn't touch the Blue and the Nutrish didn't help with any of her issues. After hours of browsing cat foods I decided to give this a go. It had a different kind of protein than she had been eating before, and I know that sweet potato is very good for skin and fur. I also thought trying a "grain-free" food would be beneficial. Thankfully, my picky kitty gobbled this stuff up from the beginning and seems to be very happy with it even after a few months. Most importantly though, her skin and vomiting issues have disappeared entirely. Hey fur is thicker, softer, and shinier than ever and she hasn't vomited in months. I also feel good about feeding her this food because it has good, healthy ingredients and Purina is a brand that I trust.

Wonderful!
I have just ordered my third bag of this cat food! I have a very skinny, four year old, ittywho throws up every type of Iams food (wet and dry). I have spent a fortune trying to find food she can eat. She loves Purina Beyond Natural Chicken and Egg dry food, and best of all, keeps it down. Since I have always given my cats both wet and dry cat food on a daily basis, we will try Purina Pro Plan canned food!

Made a noticeable improvement in my cat within days...
I decided to switch my cat to this food because it is a relatively high-quality dry food that isn't excessively expensive. I also trust Purina as a brand because other foods that market themselves as being of the highest quality, such as Blue Buffalo, have had scary results for some pet owners and aren't as high-quality as their prices and marketing make them out to be. I've fed my cats Purina for a long time, so when they came out with this food, I was willing to trt it. My cat took to this food surprisingly fast. Normally, when switching him to other foods, I actually have to convince him to try them, but he wanted to eat this food immediately. It has a strong fish smell, a lot like fish food flakes, and my cat loves that. I still mixed it gradually into his old food before replacing it completely with this kind because switching cats immediately to a new food can cause gastrointestinal upset and other issues. After eating this food for just a few days, I noticed a huge difference in my cat. His fur felt silky and very plush instead of being really dense, flat and a little coarse. He also seemed to have more energy, and he became unusually affectionate. He's already a very affectionate, clingy cat that makes friends with just about any person or animal he meets, but he was obviously very excited for meal times and would purr while eating. He was a lot more eager to eat this food than his old food. I was surprised at what a difference it made in his fur so quickly. I wasn't really expecting that. The only downside to this and any other dry food is that it doesn't contain enough moisture to keep a cat hydrated. I supplement this food with wet food. Even a cheap wet food in conjunction with a high-quality dry food like this is better than none to keep your cat from getting dehydrated. Purina makes a wet food in this same brand, but it's more affordable right now for me to buy the dry food and a cheaper wet food. If you're looking to switch your cat to a healthier dry food that isn't outrageously priced, I highly recommend this food.

EXCELLENT QUALITY GRAIN FREE CAT FOOD!!!
I have switched brand cat food ongoing for so long. . . always looking for the best cat food; a food without any by-products or wheat or grain. I spend more time reading labels on cat food than our people food. Ha! Our kitty has a sensitive stomach and barfs a lot, so I am even more careful because of that. I have tried many different brands cat food that claim to be healthy and she still had digestion problems, some of the food she wouldn't even eat. Then I tried Purina Beyond Natural Dry Cat Food, Grain Free and she is keeping her food down and eating with more enthusiasm, like she actually loves the food. Yay!!! I am so pleased that our kitty is enjoying a food that is so kind to her digestion and good for her. Purina Beyond Natural Dry Cat Food is by far the best I have bought. I should also add that my cat is very particular about how her food smells (I noted that another review also commented in this regard:-) . . . if my cat doesn't like the smell of the cat food she would starve before reducing herself to eating the food. This food has a mild and pleasant odor to it and passes the smell test with her! Cats are so funny, aren't they? :-)

Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?
Purina Beyond Natural Dry Cat Food, Grain Free, White Meat Chicken & Egg Recipe, 3-Pound Bag, Pack of 1My cat, Kitters, has always been a smelly cat. I'm talking seriously smelly. Like you've got to be kidding, what the hell is wrong with you stinky. I tried various things over the years -- Kitters is five -- and have even taken him to the vet. I had pretty much given up, and thought it was my lot in life to be stuck with a stinky cat. But I recently transitioned from Beyond White Meat Chicken & Oats, which he's been on for a couple of years, to Beyond Grain Free, and viola! no more smelly cat. So two paws up from Kitters, and two thumbs up from me, on Beyond's grain-free formula.
