Replaced due to check engine light, half power indicator repeatedly coming on in a 2011 Cooper Countryman ALL4 S with 82K. Dealer diagnostic showed weak VANOS solenoid (this item) and quoted $875 job! Thanks google youtube (see video - 08 R56 MINI COOPER N12 VANOS Solenoid replacement) and amazon for having the part. It took me 15m (had to find the right torx #30 driver for the bolt not a 10mm), but with a little light wiggling (there's an O-ring seals and tight quarters) removed old part - compared (exact match), spread some oil on it and pop right in. Goodbye check engine lights, purrs like a kitten. One finger salute to the dealer service center. Couple of notes for those who have turbo charged engines from the head mini mechanic my dealership; expect failure/degradation around 80K, if you've just driven car 'hard' let engine idle for a couple minutes before shutoff so oil can cool turbo and 15K-25K oil changes are bunk - 5K-7K max for further help in extending turbo life. Also I found turbo lag reduced with K&N air filters, happy trails all!

I bought these to replace two lower-priced units that made the cold idle crazy variable and caused surging under high loads at highway speeds. Maybe it was just my car's reaction (so I'm not leaving them a bad review) but these solved the issues right away. If you have a non-turbo Base model Mini r56 N14, remove the intake side bolt, catching the bolt with a magnet, then pull the solenoid out and disconnect the wires. Try not to remove the intake hose, as it's a bear to reinstall!

On December i had a Drivetrain warning on my dash on my BMW 116i, it turned out to be this VVT selenoid that was faulty. The mechanic had to modify the bracket where the bolt goes, it was a bit wider and longer; but after a few minutes on the grinder he managed to fit it. Started the engine, went home and no more warning on my dash screen. I am planning on replacing the second selenoid on the next oil change service.

Ordered the Dorman brand VVT Solenoid for my 2012 Mini Cooper S Convertible. Pricing was excellent, but I did have to trim the bracket some to get it to fit, not a big deal, especially since the price is very good. Been driving for more than 2 month, no issues.

This part seem to fix the problem, replacing a standard mini Cooper part. The only downside, is that it was three times more expensive than another one that I bought. It did exactly the same thing.

I bought this cause i was going to change mine out after doing the oil pressure sensor. and i thought to myself if it i'snt broken leave it alone

This was a perfect fit for my 2010 Mini Cooper Base model with a 1.6 Ltr motor. As soon as I installed it and started the car, the Engine Warning Light went out. It was super simple to install using a 10 mm socket.

This completely changed the way my mini ran. I’d say it improved performance by 200 % at least! Highly recommend 2011 cooper s changed at 80k

Fit whell my idle is better.. better quality than the oem..

Works great on my 2008 Mini Cooper non-turbo
