I was afraid to to get this after my mom's review. Her Shark has a couple quirks that drive her crazy. She complained that hair gets wrapped up to easily in her brushes, it loses suction too quickly if you don't clean the filter frequently, and the tools don't turn for different angles. Mine picks up hair without getting caught in the brush at all, I don't mind cleaning the filter weekly as suggested in the manual, and my brush attachment DOES swivel! Here's my pros and cons because those are always helpful in the reviews. Pros: The suction is so strong that the brush almost makes it drive itself. But-You can also adjust the suction and vacuum right over a small rug without it being eaten up It's awesome on hard floors, too. You just flip the power switch to the middle position and you can ride right on to the next floor. Previous vacuums I've owned, used to spit the dirt out of the back when vacuuming hard floors, but this just sucks it right up. I credit the incredible suction for this. Let's talk about the attachments for a second... I prefer a longer crevice tool, but this one works just fine and because of the vent holes near the base of it, you don't have to worry about blowing up your vacuum when you shove it down better the curtains. The brush tool is super awesome. It turns around for different angles making it easy to sweep different areas. For example, under my counter and vanity, by the kick boards, there's an area that seems to collect webs and hair pretty frequently, but this moveable tool makes it easy to get up under there without haven't to be on my hands and knees and upside down. Now, the Upholstery tool! Oh. My. God! So, you know those lint brushes that are red and pick up everything on your coat or black dress pants? The upholstery tool has little strips of those on both sides! Not just that, but again, you can adjust the suction to sweep more delicate areas. We don't have mini blinds, we have bamboo shades that are pretty delicate and a brush tool just doesn't cut it. On the "less suction" setting, it's the perfect tool. On the full suction setting, it's the perfect step tool. I have previously had the pet attachments with the rolling brush and I loved them for doing the carpeted stairs, but this upholstery tool is all I'll ever need. The flex hose is long enough for anything I would use it for. I can reach right up to my ceiling with no problem. The machine isn't too heavy or hard to push. It's easy to empty the canister, but because of the static, I like to wipe it with a dryer sheet. Now, some cons. If you can even really call them that. I think it's just more me being picky. There's no place for the upholstery tool to ride on the machine. Once the cord is wrapped up I just wedge the tool in there for storage. Which brings me to my next con... I miss the automatic rewind feature of my previous vacuum. Not that it takes a long time to wind it, it was just one less thing for me to do. Ok, one last complaint, if I'm really thinking about it. It's also about the power cord. If it was 2 feet longer, I could reach more rooms without having to change plugs. Seriously, that's it. With three kids, it's important for me to have a good vacuum that does a lot and this one doesn't disappoint. I would recommend it to everyone. Well worth the money. Even if something should happen to the one I have, I'd buy this again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Shark, for making my life a little easier.

I'm very impressed. After Dyson and Hoover, this is the best of the 3 machines I've owned. After my 14x12 bedroom was vacuumed by a housekeeper with whatever she was using, then me with the Hoover...this thing pulled quite a bit of yuck out of the carpet. (See photos) The house is vacant and being sold, so no people or pets have been in the room since the other two times it was vacuumed. I took this one over there for a final cleaning before closing day. Not only that, but it weighs less and is much quieter than the others. The long reach hose is very convenient, and it really pulls pet hair and cat litter out of the carpets. Easy to use on hard floors too with the brushroll off feature, and seems a lot more solidly built than the Hoover React it replaced...which broke after two months and Hoover wouldn't honor the warranty. Also was $50 less than the Hoover. Great product!

I received this for Christmas, and I have to say: I love this vacuum cleaner! I vacuum 6-ish times a week and I'm still very pleased to use it even to this day. My Good Thoughts, Out of Order: -It has a long, flexible power cord, allowing me to vacuum more of my house with fewer stops. -The brush on the bottom has a powerful spin and it's internal vacuum force is quite strong, pulling up virtually all the junk on the floor in very few sweeps. -The brush head is small, and the swivel is function is VERY useful, allowing me to get into very difficult and tight spots that I use to miss all the time. -The air filters are easy to access and clean, and are very effective. -The product disassembles easily and is quick to blow clean with compressed air. -The vacuum tube is long, flexible, easy to secure, and has a manual pressure release in case the internal vacuum pressure becomes too great, in order to improve motor lifespan. -The vacuum automatically shuts off the brush as soon as it becomes entangled to preserve the motor and ones sanity during the untangling. -Its dual-stage operation allows me to cheat from time to time and vacuum my tile in brushless mode without making me turn off or adjust anything in the transition aside from the flip of a switch. -It's unusually quiet for so much power. And it's very affordable. . . Oh Shark . . what are you doin' to me. . . . It's not all perfect though. Like in seemingly all vacuum cleaners, I find myself disliking the short distance between the cord wrapping hooks. I don't like how using it kinks the cord or how often I have to cycle my arms to unwrap the long cord from its designed storage, so I find myself simply avoiding the whole mess and just loosely wrapping it in a more transportable and endurable fashion. The model I got is very tall, preventing me from cleaning under some things and making it difficult to carry about, especially up stairs, as I'm kinda short (5'7"). So far, those are my biggest complaints, which I find makes me giggle in pleasure. Anywho, I love my Shark, I suggest if you do a lot of casual vacuuming to get this little gem.

Vacuums come to my home to die. Seriously; we have to buy a new one every year! Typically within the first 3 few months, they start breaking down. I've had mine for a few months now and I am happy to report that this vacuum is the very first of MANY vacuums to last this long in my large home. We are a family of 7; along with 2 dogs and 2 cats. 11 rooms in my home with either rugs or carpet and half are hardwood floors; I can use this vacuum on both surfaces. We live in the country with lots of dirt and dust....this vacuum hasn't lost its suction yet and works just as well as it did the first time I used it. I vacuum 1-2 times a week! I clean it out after every 3-4 rooms (typically twice overall each time I use it.) I will note the only "problem" that I have had is that about a week ago (after 25 plus uses), I had to cut hair off of the roller as it was getting caught and wrapping around the roller; after that, I decided to clean the filter, and clean out the hoses really well; and I have used it 4 times since then and have had no other issues.

Best vacuum I've ever owned. Better than $500-$600 Dyson vacuums. 2 years and still going strong through weekly use. Minimal care required. I might buy 2 more just to make sure I'll always have one. I'm also an allergy sufferer. I don't even need to wear a mask when cleaning with this. There is 0 dust blowback from this vacuum.

I recently did away with all of the carpet in my house and went with engineered vinyl flooring for everything. So this review is not necessarily geared toward those with fully carpeted homes. My experience with the Shark Navigator has been outstanding for my vinyl floors. I have two cats, so there are tumbleweeds of hair bouncing around the house every now and then. There are also tiny pieces of cat litter near their litter boxes. This vacuum sucks them up like a hungry hungry hippo without spitting them back out. The unit is super light weight on my vinyl floors and has a nice sharp ball turning mechanism. There are 3 attachments, a wide suction, small slit suction, and brush suction that come with the vacuum. There's a slide feature to ventilate air if you need less suction for the attachments or the regular vacuum head. This makes it easy to vacuum rugs with the attachment without yanking out the fabric. It's easily kept my couch hair-free from my pets. The head unit itself has 2 modes, one with the spinning brush cylinder (for carpet) and one without (for carpetless floors). I've mostly used the carpetless, non brush spinning option, but did read in the instructions that there are mechanisms in place so as to stop the brush from spinning if something gets caught, so that you can remove it without burning anything up. The unit is bagless and easy to detach, carry, and open the flip style lid to dump the contents into your trash. I do recommend reading the instructions on how to assemble the main parts right out of the box (it's very simple), as well as the instructions for using the attachments and using the foot locking mechanism. This vacuum doesn't have a normal style foot lever to release the vacuum from its upright position (no more breaking those plastic kick pedals). You simply place your foot on the vacuum head, tilt the vacuum to the right, and pull back and it unlocks the vacuum from its upright position. This vacuum feels very well made and its design makes it really simple to plug in and go. The cord is long enough to handle any room, but not too long to make it a pain to wrap up. There's a hook near the top of the handle to hang the cord on while you're vacuuming to keep it out of the way. It's honestly the best vacuum I've ever owned and I don't see myself going back to any other brands.

I have two dogs that have a never-ending supply of loose fur. This fur weaves itself into my rugs and collects in every bare-floored corner. And this vacuum gets rid of both at a reasonable price!!! I've had this for a few weeks, and these are my first impressions: Pros: -Relatively lightweight (haven't had to lug it up and down any stairs, though) -Easy to push around, self-propelled on carpeted surfaces -Gets fur out of carpeting with one pass -Only somewhat noisy--I could still hear that my TV show was playing while I vacuumed; other vacuums I've used have drowned out any surrounding noise. -Canister has a decent capacity--I vacuumed ~700sf with canister space to spare -Maneuverable floor piece with a low profile--I'm able to get this under some lower spaces than I've been able to do with previous, non-swivel vacuums. Cons: -It is a dust canister...emptying it is, well, dusty. -The carpet brush works a little too well and will vacuum up any rug fringe.

Best vacuum I have ever gotten, and I am extremely tough on vacuums! Dog hair everywhere and going through kitchen renovation which makes a mess out of the rest of the house. This quickly and easily picks up more than one would expect, and is the first vacuum I have found that actually works on wood floors in addition to variety of pile carpet. Suction extremely strong, can't use on throw rug even when I adjust it (which is a handy option for most things). While small works well enough that I no longer have to go over floors twice. Fantastic swivel, extremely lightweight. Very easy to clean filters, so I hope this lasts a long time because I love it - only had a few months so far but shows evidence of being very durable.

Shopped around for a good two weeks before I decided on this vacuum. So so glad I picked it up. Our old Hoover was kicking up more dust then it was sucking in. I just got this today and put it to work. I vacuumed what I consider clean carpets and it picked up lots of dust my old machine was leaving behind I was so grossed out and happy! Then I used th extension tool to clean up some fans and it did amazing and didn’t drop any dust bunnies! Super easy to put together and you can tell it’s well made. Also the brush at the bottom really buffed ho the carpet well while using it. Super happy with this machine.

I have had windtunnel, bissels, eureka, and my past 2 vacuum were dyson. The Dyson was best I ever had until I bought this Shark. The Shark has much more suction and much bigger and easier to get clean holding tank. The Dyson always was a pain the clean tank, the Shark has upper and lower openings to empty tank, this makes it so easy to clean. The nozzel suction is fantastic, so good, I don't think you could get better suction without being dangerous. Comes with crevice and pet hair attachment. Easy to assemble and does a fantastic job making old carpets like like new and is low profile enough to get under some furniture. So if I could design this any different what would I do? Is slightly top heavy, so would make weight lower on the vacuum, give it a little longer cord and extendable hose and this would be perfect in every way. Is already a great value as is and best I have owned.
