XL is huge. Shirt is fantastic.
I read the other reviews and decidexto get an XL. The XL fits like what a “true” XL would be. It is a bigger XL than a lot of other brands or clothes. I would say if you are normally on the line between a L and XL and you want to put this under a T-shirt or where as an under layer, get the L. XL fits great as an outer shirt to put other clothes underneath. Now to the shirt itself. It is exactly what I was looking for: thin sort of stretchy, baselayer. It holds its shape and is very lightweight.

Green River Labyrinth Canyon tested and approved in Moab UT ...
Green River Labyrinth Canyon tested and approved in Moab UT. This shirt performed as well as any other shirt I have taken on the river in the past at less than half the cost. It could withstand 105 f + and a scourge of mosquitoes for over 4 days. No sun burns and minimal bug bites… A+

Game Changer
Complete game changer for me! I work 12 hour shifts in the hot sun and have always used sunblock to protect my skin and tattoos. I started wearing these a few weeks ago and not only do they protect me from the sun, I am significantly cooler then when I am wearing a tshirt. The white reflects the sun and breezes come through the shirt. Ordering more of these and wont work in the sun without them again. *Runs a little larger so I ordered a size down. I'm normally an XL but L is perfect.

Great product at an amazing price!
I live in a very warm and sunny location. I use these shirts so that I can avoid sunscreen as much as possible. I have purchased expensive athletic sun shirts from other hiking/ outdoor companies. I find that these Hanes long sleeve shirts are equally protective and comfortable but at a much more affordable price. I use them when hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and much more. I have ordered three different colors and all are great. I also wear swim shirts when in the pool or at the beach and these work in a pinch. SIZING: I originally got the large and they were HUGE. I exchanged for a medium and they are perfect. I am 5'11'' 180lbs. *One thing to note about the pricing on here as of 6/2015. If you get the multi-pack in one color the cost is $18. If you get the packs that have two different colors the cost is $38?? I hope people realize they could get two multi packs at $18 each in the two colors they want and pay $36 for 4 shirts. Kinda strange pricing right??*

These outstanding shirts are one of my favorite purchases for any garment
These outstanding shirts are one of my favorite purchases for any garment. I have purchased several of these shirts and they have greatly exceeded my expectations for comfort and value and effectiveness. They are extremely comfortable, and perhaps the most comfortable long sleeve shirt I have ever worn, when I consider their utility and how many hours I have worn them. They are surprisingly more comfortable than an "old cotton t-shirt" which seems to be everyone's standard for comfort. They function very well for moisture movement (wicking) and when I walk outside in hot 100 degree Texas summer weather I feel the evaporation of the sweat (keeping me cool) and my skin under the fabric remains dry. Amazing effectiveness for wicking. Wearing a typical cotton t-shirt in the same weather was a very "wet, clingy, sticky, smelly" feel in comparison. I wear them outside for three reasons: 1. Sun Protection (less need for wearing sunblock) 2. Visibility for Safety (the lime/yellow ANSI is very effective for hi-vis during dusk or early morning walks or when sailing) 3. Comfort (wicking keeps me cooler than old cotton t-shirts. I am a long-distance ocean sailor and also wear the hi-vis yellow shirts when sailing offshore, just in case of MOB (Man Over Board) where visibility is a matter of life and death if you are in the water. I will also wear these when snorkeling, again for sun protection (about 40-50 UPF) and for visibility when on the water surface. The shirts wash and dry very easily and quickly. Just a few minutes in a low temp dryer or breeze is enough. After several washings, the hi-vis yellow color does lose some of it's fluorescent quality, but the shirts retain their hi-vis yellow color. Unlike polypropylene base layer shirts, these shirts do not retain body odors or stink after washing. I find these shirts so comfortable, that I wear them either as an undergarment base layer (under other shirts or fleece in cold weather) or as a top layer in hot summer sun. They have a very nice "silky" fabric, that is unlike the popular but heavier and coarser texture "waffle weave" often seen on ANSI Hi-Vis shirts designed for outerwear. This Hanes fabric is very light weight (very much like silk) and hardly noticeable when worn. It has also proven durable, after many long days of wear and multiple washings. I am 6' tall 240# 47" chest and the Extra Large fits me, but is snug around my arms and chest.. I also bought the XXL size and it is much more comfortable, fitting looser, with no binding. I prefer it for comfort and do not consider it too large for me. Because these shirts are so "silky" and because they wick moisture, I also wear them as a sleep garment, and I highly recommend you try that too (rather than a typical pajama top). They "slide" with you in bed and it will feel like you are sleeping on silk sheets, very comfortable in either warm or cool or cold bedroom environment. I wake up with dry skin, (as the body moisture has been wicked away) and that is very comfortable way to sleep. I think these shirts would be a very good item for anyone who is active outdoors in hot or cold weather (e.g. Hikers, backpackers, runners, cyclists, hunters, sailors, road workers, construction crew, farmers, etc.). While the price is low, I consider the value of these shirts to be outstanding. Highly recommended! By the way, I have no connection to Hanes or the seller, and I have not been compensated or given a discount for this review. I simply like the product very much.

Cools you off
Disclaimer: I'm a dermatologist. Sunscreen is good, very good, but not amazing. Shirts work better. If you're at the beach, does it really hurt to wear a shirt like this when you're not in the water? These shirts are the cheapest and simplest UPF shirts I've ever bought. If you tend to run hot, get the white color, which cools you off more than other colors. Watch out for the two packs, which often include a green shirt with your white shirt. Sizes run like typical Hanes T Shirts.

Perfect for High Humidity and High Temperature Areas!
This is my first time buying a product similar to this and I am very happy with it. Few weeks ago, I was taking my cousins to the Grand Canyon National Park via Las Vegas and Arizona Desert. I knew I needed to get a long sleeve shirts, jacket, or something similar since I tend to burn up quickly (Sun burn, sweat, heat, etc…) I was intrigued by the statement “Cool Dri”. Even though this product is made by a leading manufacturer (I used many of their products), I was skeptical. I even posted a question and received many responses from people that used the product almost every day. After their recommendation, I purchased the product along with a long sleeve cotton shirt as a backup. While I was in the Grand Canyon Nation Park (89’ F), I felt cooler and very comfortable than my cousin who was wearing a short sleeve shirt. Due to drinking lots of water and in High humidity area, I was seating more than I normally would. However, I felt that the more I sweat, the more comfortable I get even in high temperature. I saw many people who were wearing short sleeves shirts, or tank top shirts complaining of heat and burn while I hike in comfort. I recommend this product or similar products to people that will be traveling to high humidity or high temperature area. Be warn that when it get cold, this product doesn’t handle cold very well. Since I came back, I have purchased more of this product. I am in no affiliation what so ever with the seller and my opinion is of my own. I will update the review when and if necessary to maintain the integrity of the product and my reviewer standings. [...]

Good for swimming too!!
Just as others have indicated, this shirt fits me the same as my other regular XL t-shirts. I am a maie, 5' 11" 210 lbs. 44" chest. I purchased these shirts to be used in place of the more expensive sunblock shirts. I also wanted to use them when I was swimming while on vacation. They worked great. Let me tell you what I experienced. I put the shirt on and it felt like my regular XL T-shirt. The sleeves were a bit long but what could you expect? Remember, the manufacturer has to provide a shirt to fit a number of body types that need XL. Some folks have long arms and others not so long. I simply folded up the sleeve. Problem solved. The shirt had a loose overall feel that I like. On vacation, I spent a lot of time in the sun and the sun blocking effect worked just fine. Remember these are not total sun blocking only SPF 50, Then I went into the water with the shirt on. Of course the shirt got wet just like my T shirt would and the fit became, as expected, a bit sloppy. The sleeves seemed to sag a bit but this I overcame by simply pulling up on the sleeve at the shoulder. I had no problem swimming and snorkeling with this shirt. As you may know. the normal expensive sunblock shirts have a tighter fit. If this is what you would like, I would suggest ordering a smaller size. If you want this mostly for swimming, I would down size. If you want it for both swimming and lounging around as I did, the size was just fine.

I prefer to wear long sleeves when I go out, even in the summer, so shirts like these are just right for me. They're made of polyester, not cotton, in an interlocked jersey knit that wicks away moisture, so they make your torso and arms less warm than most shirts. That means they probably aren't something you'll want to wear in cold winter weather, unless perhaps you're wearing them as undershirts. They don't hold much odor, so they don't necessarily need to be washed between every "performance", and they don't get too wrinkly, so they never really need to be ironed; major pluses for busy (lazy) people like myself. I also love the fact that there are no visible tags or logos on the outside of them. The one drawback, in fact, is that the fabric is thin enough to show the imprint of man nipples. marcellee.com
