I bought these because I was tired of dealing with the cheap-ass tongs I have. Clearly, someone has taken the time to THINK about what they were making before they made it. These are QUALITY tongs. You can feel that just by holding them. They feel substantial. The finish is great - there are no sharp edges. The silicone bits fit your hand, making them easy to hold, even when your hands are wet. The silicone bits on the business ends don't scratch your pans, and, most importantly, are designed so that you don't have to pick smushed food out of them after you pick something up. The last bit of damn good design is the locking mechanism. First, it isn't flimsy. Second, it's big enough that you can grab it easily. Lastly, IT HAS AN EYELET so you can hang it up! Which also aids in the grabability. I love these things. The only thing I would do differently is to add a third, longer size so I can use them on the grill more easily. This is a true five star product. If the other StarPack products are as well-designed as these tongs I may be placing some more orders.

Even with my hands...

StarPack Home Premium Silicone Tongs 2 Pack (9-Inch & 12-inch) The nerve damage in my hands make it difficult for me to handle many objects. Kitchen utensils are top on the list. I needed a tool for picking up/turning food while cooking and removing from pots or my NuWave cooker. I was hesitant to purchase tongs because of the squeezing action required to use them. I decided to try the StarPack tongs because of the sure-grip design and of course the price for the pair. I made a wise choice. My ability to handle the tongs was better than I expected. Unlike all metal tongs I tried to use, the StarPack tongs don't slip from my grip (actually lack there of). The silicone heads do a nice job of gripping and holding food. To be able to turn steaks without puncturing or hotdogs/sausage, my most difficult food, without the slipping and sliding, is a huge relief. I even boiled some dumplings and removed them without total desecration of the little darlings. LOL Why not just use a spoon? It's difficult for me to grip a spoon and supinate my wrist to remove food from a pot of water. These tongs solve that problem. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the construction and performance of these tongs. The smooth glide locking feature is a plus.

The Best Tongs I Have Ever Purchased! Enjoy!

Like so many other products I bought after reading trusted amazon.com top 50 reviewer Don Blankenship's reviews, purchasing these tongs was a no brainer. If you have ever read his reviews you know what I am talking about. Well, I absolutely love these tongs. The weekend before last I cooked mass quantities of bacon on the grill on my oven broiling pan. That grill was HOT; however, the long tongs made this a snap. These tongs lock and unlock easily for storage and use with just a simple tug of the hanging ring. They are so much easier than the metal tongs that I used prior to discovering these gems. I have tried these tongs over an extended period of time and can honestly say that these are the best I have ever used. This evening, I noticed that there was only one Healthy Choice Fudge ice cream bar left in the freezer; however, it was below the pull out drawer in an area much too small for my greedy large hands to reach. Magic! The long tongs were just the tool that I needed. Did I mention how much I love Healthy Choice Fudge ice cream bars? Nevertheless, these handy tongs saved the day! These tongs are attractive and useful for a variety of needs. I recommend them without reservation. If you are looking for inexpensive, durable and easy to us tongs--THIS IS IT! Enjoy! Update: I enjoy this product so much that I bought one for my son and shipped it to him out of state as a Christmas stocking stuffer! 8-8-16 Update: We use these so much now that I bought several more sets to use while others are in the dishwasher.

Many things to love about these!

I ordered these back in September 2015 and have used them over time. I, like some other reviewers, am making the change over to silicone kitchen accessories. I keep these tongs, with many other tools, in a glass pitcher that sits on my countertop, in order to access them quickly when needed. Though none of my kitchen decor is red, these blend in nicely while adding just enough pop of color. The red is a deep red and does not interrupt my color scheme. This is important for those like me who care about things matching in the kitchen. As pictured, the set comes with a large and small pair. The rubber grip on the handles is a welcomed change from the feel of both my silver and wood tongs. They have an impression where my thumb and first finger naturally rest, and that makes them even more comfortable. I have ceased using both my other pairs, because this set seems to meet all of my needs when it comes to tongs. The wooden ones do not give, and are a pain when they are not wide enough for what I am trying to grab. The silver ones are a bit too wide, and not as easy to control without the silicon handles. Not to mention, they scratch my good pots. What I like about the smaller pair is that they fit and feel almost like an extension of my hand. I am petite - 4'11", 112 lbs and I have small hands. These were a very pleasant surprise for me. I also like that they still extend wide enough to grab something like, say, a chicken leg or thigh yet they close so smoothly that they are easily squeezed to grab something small like a scallop or sauteed veggies. I don't know the real purpose behind the scalloped edges, but I find that because of them, they are more flexible and with them being rubber, they don't have a problem picking up what you intend to pick up. These are my go-to tongs for small or few things, or when I need precise control (like when cooking a delicate fish or sauteing veggies). Lastly, the smaller pair is great if you have any kid chefs in your home. They are small enough for them to handle and learn how to be efficient with them. The second pair is larger, but not too large for my small hands to control. The silicone handles are the saving grace for that. These are my go-to tongs when I am cooking larger or more things, like a whole cut up chicken.They open even wider than the small pair, so I am able to pick up a half roasted chicken successfully and with control. Both pair of tongs lock using the small circle on the end. Pull it out, they lock, push it in, they unlock. The only downside for me is that because I keep them in a pitcher, when I shove them down into it, they sometimes unlock and fling open when the circle hits the pitcher bottom. Though this is not a defect of the tongs, it is because of my personal storage choice. I did not pay attention to the cleaning instructions, but I have washed these in the dishwasher regularly (on the top shelf) for the last three months, and have not had any issues. They come out clean with no water stains on the silver. These would make a great addition to anyone's kitchen.

Sturdy and totally great!

Love these tongs. Just bought new non-stick saute pans and wanted to keep them safe from the scratches of metal utensil. These are great. I can't believe how sturdy they are. They work wonderfully in the new pans, for me there is an added bonus! I'm about as tall as a garden gnome and I can't reach a lot of things in my cupboards. Regular metal tongs slide off plastic containers and drop stuff. These silicone tongs are just perfect; they grab on and hold on. Yay! Great product, super price.

StarPack is quality

Great product from great company. I recently bought a pair of tongs from a company that spoofed StarPack; Amazon was able to get my money back as the other company was a fake (knock Off) of StarPack. The fake had thinner metal for the tongs, a cheap "pop" rivet to hold pieces together AND did not have StarPack Logo engraved on handles. I bought my blue tongs and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Buyer beware...Now I make sure I am only dealing with StarPack home because they are the real deal and have high quality products. I have many StarPack products for use in my home because of their attention to detail and quality!

Sturdy, attractive & easy to clean

We've been using these tongs for just a couple of weeks now, but so far I'm loving them. They are heavier and seem better constructed than other tongs we have/had. The teal color is awesome - makes me happy just to see them in the drawer! So far I've been hand-washing them most of the time to preserve their life, as the instructions recommend, but we've also run both sets through the dishwasher and will continue to do so. They seem like they will hold up well! The one really interesting thing I've noticed is how much we use the smaller tongs. We've always had longer sets and I assumed we'd continue using that size, but the smaller ones are easier to handle and work great for jobs requiring more dexterity. I love them! And it cost less for two sets than for one of other brands, which is amazing to me. Highly recommend these if your silicone tongs have seen better days!

Durable silicone, well balanced kitchen essential

Love the quality design. Put these to work right away in a variety of cooking activities - grill management, non-stick frying pan, cast iron grill pan, salad bowl. You name it, these can handle it. The shorter length pair is especially nimble but at the expense of proximity to heat. Based on this, I more often reach for the longer pair. Unlike some tongs I've owned, the tips on these align perfectly. This makes it easier to handle smaller pieces of food with high precision. e.g., turning individual pieces of sausage, mushrooms in a crowded frying pan. Have yet to see any melting or deformation of the tips, so the heat resistance seems on par with higher quality silicone. The lock works as expected, nothing worth mentioning. Probably my fault for not hand washing them, but the silicone portions seem to pick up a white soap film in the dishwasher from time to time. It rinses right off, so it's hardly a complaint, but I want to mention it. Lastly, I'd read about sharp edges in some reviews prior to purchasing. In normal use, I've yet to experience that. I'm sure if I shoved a pinky into a seam, I could encounter an unfinished edge, but there's no way that would happen without forcing it. All in all, great product that I expect to serve my family for many years.

I bought these ALMOST out of desperation. I had some older metal tongs that sort of worked sometimes. With plain metal tongs gripping anything becomes a precarious undertaking. Unless your hands are completely clean and dry the blasted things keep trying (with much success) to slip from your grip. This is not pleasant when you're trying to fish something from a pot of simmering liquid and it splashes down leaving little red burn marks on your hand. Add advancing age (advancing being the operative word - I'm not fully there yet) and the problem gets worse. The silicone on the tongs makes a huge difference, not only in gripping the tongs themselves but hanging on to whatever it was you were after. I don't want to wax schmaltzy but when you're asked how things are going in life and you proceed to tell them about tongs... Seriously, these are a great aid in the kitchen. I have burned myself more than a few times when I've dropped a piece of chicken back into simmering sauce. New tongs. Problem gone.

After much unnecessary research for a kitchen utensil, I selected this set and I'm happy to report they exceeded my expectations in every way! They were shipped and received with lighting speed. I cooked with them several times and was pleased with the feel in my hand and the ease of clean-up which really was a breeze. I literally just ran them under hot water and much to my amazement, they rinsed clean without any need to be wiped...AMAZING! Also, the multi-position locking mechanism grips so well and gently, that I found them useful for non-traditional purposes to pick-up and hold things in deep narrow places! Additionally, their customer service and follow up is unparalleled, some might feel annoyed by it.
