It works
I was a little skeptical about ordering this one because I had ordered something similar and it didn't work. This one was easy to set up and recorded like a dream. The main thing here is being able to use the program that records the music. It isn't difficult to use if you have ever used a recording program before. This converter's main purpose is to get the data from your tape to your computer. Once you have done that then you will need to do some manipulation to get this information from the computer to a disk. And as always mind your copyrights.

Better than expected.
Works better than expected actually. Worked seamlessly with Audacity software. Powered by USB just fine. Inherent noise level on playback is about -51db. That's more than I'd like, but it's hard to determine whether that is due to old (20+ years) cassettes, or the unit itself. All that said, this has good quality on playback - good highs and lows. I've not had it long enough to comment on durability, but so far it has been a pleasant surprise.

Delivery and follow-up from the team to find out if I was satisfied with the purchasing process and performance was more than excellent. Now, for what this unit cost, I do not understand how anyone can complain. This unit worked as described with easy to understand set up instructions. I was converting my 40 year old cassettes to MP3s within twenty minutes of opening the package. Sound quality is absolutely fine for me especially given that my tapes are 40 years old (so old in fact that I had to open some of the cassettes to re-attach the tape to the spindle so the unit can play them). If you are a audiophile snob, you may want to plunk down a whole lot of more money with some other software program to modify the files (Audacity software works just fine for me) otherwise, it is SWEET to be listening to my old tapes on all my digital devices!!

cassettes to DVDs
It did the job of transferring my audio cassettes to my computer. Then, using the enclosed "Audacity I created wav. files that could be exported to my dvd recorder. I used the DL type for maximum room. It took me a while to figure out the "Audacity" software but finally was able to do enough to get my DVD s done. I had to use the free download of: "CDex" to burn discs as the windows program was a problem. The "CDex" would only allow me to do a data disc for my 7 cassettes so they have to be played back on a computer. This is a minor problem. A single cassette was record-able as an audio disc which can be played back on a computer or CD player. I finally got my cassettes transferred and am happy about that. The comment I read about the closure of the EZCAP unit was resolved by using a rubber band around the unit. This was only necessary on some cassettes due to there size. Overall, this unit did the job and I recommend it. The "Audacity" is a complicated and awesome piece of software with many capabilities.

It pays to ask
This product works great. When I first got it, I wrote that it didn't have much in the way of directions on how to use it. Amazon picked that up right away and rectified the problem. They contacted me and told me they were going to send me directions which they did. The Player converter works great and I am very grateful to Amazon for actually reading the reviews and then fixing the problem. I am so used to on line companies who could care less. But Amazon went above and beyond. If you do get this, ask for the directions...or in any case, anything you get from Amazon. They are incredible.

Saved My Precious Memories
I would give this cassette converter more than 5 stars if I could. In cleaning out my basement, I found about 15 unmarked cassette tapes. I had long ago gotten rid of my cassette players so I had no way to find out what was on them; however, I suspected that some of them might be cassettes that my mother, father, and grandmother recorded for me when I lived in Europe years ago. Since they had all passed away, I was eager to find out if their voices were on the tapes, and if so, preserve them. I loaded the software, plugged in the converter, loaded a tape and started recording. EASY! It turned out that 5 of the tapes had been recorded by my family but thanks to the Arrela converter, I was able to listen AND save them in both MP3 and WAV formats on my computer. Although the tapes were mostly about mundane happenings that occurred so long ago, just being able to hear my family's voices again was a great gift. Now I can listen to them anytime I want on the computer. This is a great little product that does exactly what it claims and very easy to use. I think there are lots of feature on the software that would be useful, but I haven't tried them. Clicking on the record button was great enough for me.

Good product, but world class customer service
Very light, cheap feeling unit. Windows 7 immediately detected and installed drivers for the device, so the included mini software CD was not needed. I found it slightly difficult to open the lid, but bearable. The real problem was that after inserting a cassette, the lid would not stay closed. I tried everything I could to get the lid to latch, but to no avail. There are 2 metal hooks acting as the latch which seemed to be bent, but I'm unsure if this is part of the design or not, because it seems to latch ok without a cassette loaded. The unit will run on DC power adapter, USB or AA batteries. The quality was very good, using audacity. I will mention that there was some clicking and noisy audio when I had the unit resting on my marble desk. Moving it on top of the cardboard box it came in seemed to solve that issue. I wouldn't given this product 3-4 stars due to the lid issue, but Arrela customer service has been emailing me almost hourly to make sure I get a return or refund. They seem to be more worried about it than I am, which is amazing and not to be taken for granted these days. So given the fact that the output quality is great and the customer service is world class, I have to give this product 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone.

Low cost, but awesome
I like the Audacity tool included. The hardware works as expected. I had trouble that was easy to overcome by doing a Google search (Win10 seems to default audio output to USB when the device is attached, meaning I can't record something & immediately listen back from my PC... so I changed default audio output back to my realtek speakers.) Also, natural tape clicking is picked up, but this seems like it is cancelling that when there's actual audio recording. Oh, and the auto reverse feature makes walking away and coming back between 90 minutes and 3 hours later a breeze to capture a tape.

I purchased this unit to convert numerous old home-made cassette tapes my father gave me over to MP3 format. I had previously purchased the U-PHONO UFO202 unit but could never get good results with it (mainly due to the fact that I could never figure out how to use Audacity® correctly). So I shopped around and found this thing. It looked very simple and I figured even I might be able figure out how to use it. I was right. The one thing I did do wrong was to plug the longest USB cord into the unit itself and the end with (2) cords on it into the PC. That does not work at all, so don't be like me and do that. Once I figured out what I had done wrong, the unit started working perfectly and I converted my first old cassette tape to MP3 format. However when I played the MP3 file back I noticed that about every 30 seconds there was a skip in the recording where it lost about a second each time it skipped. I tried it over and over again and it kept doing the skipping thing on each new recording. After about 6 hours of fooling with it I was ready to package the thing up and return it... However I figured out what was wrong... Here it is folks... When I first formatted my USB Drive, I had used the FAT32 format option. I reformatted it using the exFAT option and presto, it worked perfectly and never skipped again. So once again, format your USB drive using the exFAT format option and the skipping problem should stop. Hope this helps.

LOVE IT!
I could not be happier with this product and the level of customer service provided by Arrela. Being technologically inept, it took me a little while to figure out how to get the music from my computer to my IPOD, but the AUDACITY software loaded quickly and without incident from the included disc, and I easily transferred treasured music from cassettes to my computer. In the interim, I received an e-mail from Arrela to make sure that the converter was received when scheduled, and offering assistance if I ran into a problem. I emailed Arrela at 2 AM, EST for help and received a prompt reply, which I hadn't expected. This technology is truly miraculous and a must-have for anyone who wants to convert their cassettes to MP3 -- especially since it is so economical. Thanks, Arrela! I love it!
