I had a Blue Yeti microphone because everyone claimed it was the best but in my experience it was a piece of garbage. Since I'm not a Sound Engineer I could never get it to sound right. I always sounded tinny with tons of hissing. Enter this wonderful mic. Rode is one of the best, no question there. But unlike the Yeti I just plugged this into my computer and it sounded amazing. No hiss, nice and loud and my voice was crisp and clear. It wasn't overly sensitive and I could record podcasts right in my living room. Best of all, I could plug it into my iPad and make recordings on the fly. I spent two weeks researching mics and ultimately bought this. So take advantage of my extensive work and buy this mic. And let me answer your question.. After recording your first track and you listen to yourself, Yes! That is what you sound like. Sorry if you thought you sounded like George Clooney or Kate Winslet. But that's what audio effects are for!

EDIT: I use this microphone on the RODE mic arm as well and the clip that secures it to the arm broke! I am extremely frustrated because now the mic is useless. I do not swing my arm anywhere, I simply raised it up out of the frame and it snapped. DISAPPOINTED Bought this mic because I do some online streaming for webinars, games, and other miscellaneous things and love it. When I first received the package, I thought to myself... this is really heavy for just a USB mic then I broke it out and found out why. Let me start by stating that I have several RODE microphones so I am familiar with the build quality and sound quality. It is much larger than expected. Once I opened the box I was greeted by the awesome packaging and build quality that comes with RODE mics. It was well presented and very easy to get out and set up. PLUG-N-PLAY at its finest, nothing like plugging into your computer or iPad and working like a charm without having to download drivers or anything! There is a jack on the mic itself that lets you plug headphones into so you can get a good understanding of what the mic is outputting to your device. It is a great way to tell if levels are too loud or not.

I use this for live streaming and Discord calls and the audio quality is outstanding. I was using the Blue Yeti before which had good quality BUT quickly developed an issue where there was a high pitch whine whenever I spoke. I've owned this RODE mic for a few months and there is zero whine. I'll update my review if any problems show up with the RODE. The mic is pretty heavy. Maybe very slightly smaller and lighter than the YETI. The built in pop filter is nice since it's takes up so little space compared to a third party one. My biggest con is I wish one of the knobs adjusted the pickup sensitivity. The mic is sensitive which I deal with by using a gate on my voice, which works great. The extra knob would just be a small convenience. All in all, this is a great microphone for streaming, podcasting, or general chatting online. I haven't tested it for singing yet. Highly recommend.

I work as an Instructional Designer, and occasionally have to narrate E-Learning's or short instructional videos. I have a home office and a corporate office location. Originally I was using my Blue Yeti USB microphone, with the Radius II shock mount attached to the PSA1 Studio Arm. This set up worked great, but it sucked having to move it from office to office. So I decided to get a second set up. After a lot of research for what would best fit my needs, I went for this set up. I now have a Rode NT-USB microphone attached to the SM6 Shock Mount, all on the PSA1 Studio arm. What I really like is that the microphone is actually suspended with the SM6 shock mount, so it reduces a lot of noise that the microphone pics up. I am not a professional Audio Engineer, and have been learning about all this on my own. However, I am a professional looking for great narration. This product fits my needs and my budget. In comparison to the Blue Yeti/Radius II set up I have, this is slightly better. There is slightly more control with this microphone than the Blue Yeti for Unidirectional sound. The Blue Yeti works great, and has a few functions this Microphone does not. For basic narration, where you only want to pick up sound/voice from one direction this mic is better. I use this microphone with Audacity, and Storyline 2 for software. It works great, and produces a high quality sound that I need to engage learners. I would buy this product again.

I am a Professional Studio Mixing Engineer. So when I review this mic, you know you can trust my judgement. I decided to get this mic for my home use. It's FANTASTIC! Crystal clear vocal recording. It is very sensitive, so it will pick up background noises and chatter, so be sure you are in a very quiet place when you record. The actual quality of the recorded vocals however, are beautiful, clear, and does not require too much tweaking to get the vocals up to the industry standard, through effects, etc. I would highly recommend this mic to anyone who does home/studio recording, podcasts, and so on.

I bought this microphone based on some internet videos that demonstrated the sound quality, and I'm glad to report that it delivers beautiful, dynamic range and is very sensitive. I am using this microphone for my internet radio show, and my listeners noticed a marked improvement in audio quality. It also comes with the pop filter you see in the photo and what must be the longest connect cord I've ever seen, which is great! The box also comes with a pouch for the microphone for secure. Final thoughts...in terms of sound, the Rode NT-USB Condenser Microphone is better than my Blue Yeti or Audio Technica AT 2020, both of which I'm shelving. Sure, the Blue Yeti has more functional controls, but I am a stickler for sound quality, and the Rode delivers plenty of that for a USB microphone.

I'm not totally a newbie to YouTube, but my channel is fairly young. Until now, I've been using a $10 headset mic. I got this and plugged it in and with just a few adjustments to my screencast program, I recorded my first video with it yesterday. My viewers thought it sounded great. Only one thing to be aware of if you're a newbie to sound (like me). This thing picks up EVERYTHING. My cat was two rooms away and shook his head (he has a bell on his collar). Yep, it picked it up. If I move my arms, it picks up the rustle of my clothing. Since I don't have a sound proof studio and I have limited settings in my sound options, I'm now trying to figure out how to shield the mic from things like my furnace fan blowing. So, wanted to put that in for those who are new to these kinds of high powered microphones. It surprised me how sensitive it is. But overall, I think it's an excellent mic that's not too expensive but will give a good quality sound.

I use it with garage band. Amazing mic. You basically get the sound quality of a Rode NT1 for just $150. The output is nice, doesn't naturally clip, sounds smooth yet bright. It's basically sounds like a high end studio quality mic. Unless I had a 5 million dollar record deal with sony, I'd use just this mic for all the vocals for all my albums if I could. The only mic that might beat this (for me) is a Telefunken U47 but that an $8000 tube mic. lol

I bought this to do podcasting and it is a fantastic mic but as a condenser mic is insanely sensitive. It hears things I can't hear. I don't have a sound isolated space and it picked up the cat drinking water 15 feet away, the low hum of the heat pump on the roof, every sound my clothing made when I moved, even scratching my face. I am returning it for that reason and getting the MXL BCD-1 dynamic mic instead, which I've read is used in some radio stations, so that's good enough for me. Don't buy the Rode unless you have a very controlled sound space to record. I wish I could use it, but it's not right for my needs.

The microphone in terms of sound quality is about what you'd get for the price. It works surprisingly well in multiple conditions, but does pick up a bit on background noise (noticeable if you put the sound up, I could hear my neighbors talking on the highest sound setting(ouch)). In order to get great sound, I had to finnick around with it, but I have a good setup now. On on the customer service. If you register your microphone on the Rode website, you get the extended warranty on the product, and amazing customer service. The reason I had to get a support ticket, was because the microphone mount that this came with broke in half. I was hanging it off at a odd angle on my microphone stand, but the tolerance should have been there. Anyways, I got a support ticket, got a response in a few hours, and after saying my address, a replacement was shipped out. The replacement came in a day or two, but the clamping action was very weak. Another support ticket, and they sent me one of their higher end shock mounts. The one they sent has been working like a charm, and I've been happy since. The sound quality is good, the support is great, and the peripherals that came with it aren't the best. However, this is a great starter microphone for mid to high level quality recording.
