Excellent Lamp in Small Form Factor

I received this as a Christmas present after borrowing one from my brother for an extended period, so I knew exactly what I was getting when I opened the box. Pros: There are enough brightness and temperature settings to make this desk lamp practical for almost any scenario, thanks to the many LED bulbs inside the arm. I have not used the timer feature but I imagine it would be helpful in certain situations. The lamp sits on a non-intrusive but relatively solid base, and this combined with the hinged (and swiveling) arm means that it can occupy a very small footprint, perfect for desks with limited amounts of space. The USB port on the side is convenient as well for limiting the number of wall plugs you use at once. Overall, the mechanics of the lamp function perfectly and make the design work in both form and function. Cons: The arm is made of plastic that looks sleek but is not as solid as it looks. The lamp also attracts large amounts of dust, and (at least for the black model) is relatively high-maintenance to keep clean. The buttons that control the settings are not tactile (which is good), but it takes a while to learn how to press one button without activating others. As these drawbacks no longer affect my daily experience, I consider them very minor. Conclusion: This is the best desk lamp I've ever owned in terms of practicality and functionality. While the design may leave something to be desired for those who want a more traditional-looking lamp, this is a great option for most people. I could see myself replacing this with a higher-end lamp if I ever bought a larger desk, but short of that I plan to use it well into the future.

Perfect to illuminate keyboard under raised computer monitor.

I looked at number of similar lamps before choosing this one. I'm using this to light the keyboard and desk surface beneath my raised computer screen. It's perfect for this application, directing the light down and not reflecting in the monitor. The four mode settings allow me to dim the light for computer work, and increase it for close work when I need a lot of light to see intricate objects. Also nice that each of the four mode/color temperature settings can be made brighter or dimmer from their default settings. The fact that the lamp base sits off to the side and the light bearing arm extends over the work area gives me even illumination for a task that requires spreading papers or parts across my desk. With the arm fully extended, the horizontal light LEDs are 14 inches above the surface where the lamp base rests. This is the most satisfied I've been with a purchase in a while.

Nice warm white color from this lamp

My home office desk has to do duty for low evening mood lighting, high intensity daytime accountant's papers, and everything in between. I started using this lamp one week ago. It's form duplicates the one it replaces, and I am, and was, in love with that for it's many adjustments. I bought it for the color options and it has totally changed my daily life. The options, both as to intensity and color scale, are myriad. Though both this and its predecessor worked at daylight white, this unit has several warm white settings, one of which you can see in the picture, and a range of brightness settings, so my early morning and late evening computer or desk work no longer jolt me into some alternate time universe, but keep me right where I want and need to be. Highly recommended, even by this penurious accountant.

Love This Light!

We purchased 2 of these lamps for home office and work office. Love them! The articulating ability is great for accommodating various needs. The variety of light settings is wonderful when at your desk all day. From bright white to warm low light, you can choose your setting depending on the task (or your headache). No problem recommending this one!

LOVE this lamp!

LOVE this lamp! There are already a ton of reviews listing out all of the pros and cons, but I there is one feature I've not seen mentioned (albeit, I did not read all 5K reviews). I am using this on my nightstand, and a really neat feature of this lamp is that the lower, vertical part of the arm has a slit in it, which allows light to shine through in any of the lamps color and brightness modes/settings, turning it into a back-lit night light when you have it completely folded, providing just enough glow so you don't trip on the way to the bathroom, and don't like having a night light shining in your room all night. This is great for those who like to sleep in total darkness. Probably the only thing I don't love about this lamp is the shiny, dust- and fingerprint-magnet design. It would be cool if it had a matte finish instead of shiny black plastic. But I think this is a small price to pay for a lamp that is under $20. I see myself getting another one, and one as a gift for my son, who doesn't think he needs light to work/read by. All of the various color and brightness settings and the ease of use makes this totally worth the money. All the other great reviews are true!

Bright future for this lamp

Despite the inability to plug this into a surge protector or power strip of any kind, and the non-existent cleaning instructions, I give this lamp five stars. Why? The warranty will cover the power surge that kills this lamp. I can also just let it get all greasy from fingerprints. But seriously, this lamp has several up/down levels of each type of light: relax, study and read. Bright LEDs are were a pleasant surprise and change from the regular lamp bulbs I was using. Makes for a different, happier reading experience. Light timer (60 min only) is a good feature. Well made - sturdy, yet not heavy. Base is solid and the lamp will not fall over. USB charger thingee is well place on the SIDE of the unit and not in front which gets my cable organizing blood boiling. I put my Kindle in front of the base for a great work session. Perfect box, shipping was excellent - all very well above avg. in the delivery category. These would be great as gifts for the holidays because they are priced so reasonably.

Good Light

So this is a pretty neat little lamp that I decided to write a review for. I've owned a multitude of incandescent desk lamps in the past and they all burn hot and burn out pretty quickly so I am pretty optimistic about LED technology. I have not had this thing for a super long time so I will update should anything change, but this thing is definitely worth the money so far. Out of the box the thing is pretty easy to assemble. You get 1. the foldable light arm, 2. the base, and 3. the power adapter. Screw the base between the light arm and its cap and boom! You have yourself a lamp. There are 4 "Mode"s that are different LED's within the lamp that activate to produce different temperatures. For reading/relaxing/sleeping you'll run warmer colors that are easier for the eyes to relax an will be more reddish like a midwinter fireplace. The study mode will be a more colder and whitish light like a bright sunny day which will allow for more crisp detail in text heavy books. Each setting can be controlled with the +/- buttons and has 5 levels of brightness you can switch between. The base itself is the majority of the weight of the lamp. It has a footprint about 7 inches by 7 inches (17.5 cm) it has a grippy bottom so it shouldn't slide around. It allows the upper arm to rotate in about a 180 degree range. The USB works well enough to charge my phone and is definitely convenient for freeing up a computer USB. Capacitance buttons are what controls the function of the light and they actually work surprisingly well (I usually hate these kinds of buttons) and are super responsive. So it's a bright light that is pretty reasonable in price. If you're on the fence and need a light, look no further. If I had to come up with a complaint about this, it is that its a really glossy black material, ergo a fingerprint magnet. I don't think its enough to detract from the value of the product, but something to keep in mind. Photos are the brightest setting, study mode.
