I prefer steaming all my veggies for the taste and nutrients. I have used similar steamer baskets in the past that would constantly fall apart. I would always find myself searching for pieces everytime I wanted to use the basket. This steamer is made of high quality materials and the pieces stay attached. It fits all my pans perfect. I would buy again.

We used to steam things in the microwave, then it broke and it's been like 4 months and our landlord may or may not ever replace it. So in the meantime, I got us a steamer and let me say, I'm dumb for ever steaming things in the microwave. We steam dumplings, tamales, buns, vegetables. This thing is dishwasher safe and I've thrown it in there multuple times and had no problem. It has a handle that retracts so you can easily remove it from any pot. It hasn't rusted or broken yet after several weeks of near-daily use! The most annoying thing is when food (specifically, cheese from tamales) spills out and sort of bakes into the holes, it's a bit difficult to scrub off, but I really can't complain.

So I wanted a food steamer so I could start my lil one on solids but I didn't want to get yet another expensive kitchen gadget that takes up space in my kitchen. I also did not want another plastic made gadget even if it's BPA free as I'm trying to get back to basics. After some shopping around I decided on this one. I was so excited when it arrived and puzzled of how small and compact it was and clueless how to open it. Sunsella, however, must have anticipated this and the day it was delivered I received an email telling me how to use it and best take care of it. Love the proactive customer service!!! I now use this little gadget every day and get so much pleasure out of using it - folding and unfolding it - sad but true!;) It also fits any pot which is great.

Old review below. I got a reply from Sunsella to send them my address if I would like a replacement. I did so (about 16 months after purchase) and they immediately sent me a new one. I changed my review from one star to five. I haven't had the new one long enough to know if the rust problem has been solved, but I'll give them 5 stars for being a stand-up company. Thanks Sunsella! -------------------------------------------- Says it is 100% stainless, but the legs and center pin have already rusted. I tested them with a magnet, and they are magnetic. This indicates lower quality stainless. Since this item needs to operate in steam, the stainless steel that it is made with needs to be of high quality. I thought this would be better than my old steamer, but it is actually worse.

Everything about this item is good including their customer service. I stated in my previous reviews that I had an issue with this item. After thinking about it, it was really my lack of attention to detail. Suffice it to say, Sunsella took care of me without my even asking them to do so! This item is well made and fits perfectly in the 8 qt Instant Pot. I would expect it to last just about forever but then I'm 73.

This 6.4 to 10.4 inch vegetable steamer works great used with a 2 1/2 inch steaming rack www.amazon.com/dp/B01B4E8PG6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1 in a 6 quart Farberware Classic Stainless Steel Covered Stock pot www.amazon.com/Farberware-Classic-Stainless-6-Quart-Stockpot/dp/B000058AKA/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1489457889&sr=1-1&keywords=farberware+6+qt+pot. In opinion, the vegetable steamer itself has legs that are too short (3/4 inch) for proper steaming -- the vegetables are too close to the boiling water for proper steaming. But placing the Vegetable Steamer on top of the 2 1/2 inch heavy-duty stainless steaming rack raises the bottom of the Vegetable Steamer to 2 1/2 inches. This combo works great. I purchased the 2 1/2 inch steaming rack, but the 2 inch might almost as well.

I love this collapsable steamer basket. Very easy to use and store. I had a similar one a while ago, but it didn't have the nice handle this one has to help you get it out of the pot. I really like that. And especially how the handle can extend and collapse. At the shortest height it's perfect for the sauce pan I use most often for my steaming. I use it all the time. Easy clean up, too. I usually either hand wash or put it in the top rack of the dishwasher.

I have had this type of steamer for decades, and have had the Sunsella steamer for a few weeks. After reading some reviews of other brands, I had concerns that the legs of the steamer might be too short to steam foods for more than a few minutes. The legs on this steamer are tall enough to steam foods with the boiler covered for at least 15 minutes, with no need to add water, and without the water boiling up onto the food. Even if water did need to be added, it should be no big deal. It seems that any vegetable would be mush if steamed more than 15-20 minutes. The steamer seems to be constructed of a good quality stainless steel, is compact and fits into most boilers, and perfect for cooking for a single person or a couple on a daily basis. The ease of use has meant I actually steam and eat more vegetables. I also have a much larger one for cooking large amounts of veggies or seafood. It works well so far, and I assume it will continue to do so for years. I like this steamer, and can find no flaw in it.

I purchased the stainless steel steamer basket in January 2018 and by March 2018 after being used a few times, it was already showing heavy amounts of rust. At first, I accepted it as a waste of money and a lesson learned but after thinking about it for a week, I decided to contact Sunsella explaining the issue. Damien at Sunsella was very quick to respond to my inquiry, asked for more details and photos of the steamer basket so he could share them with the quality control team. In addition, he offered to send a replacement at no extra charge and was even willing to substitute the green silicone basket in its place. After sending the photos, Damien explained that the basket I had was not a Sunsella product because it did not have the company logo stamped into it. There was an obvious mixup somewhere but true to his word, Damien was still willing to replace it and a few days later, the silicone basket arrived. The green silicone basket I received is of high quality and design having deeper walls than the stainless steel basket. It is definitely superior to the stainless steel basket I had received and I believe it to be a better choice overall. If I could go back in time, I would have ordered the silicone basket to begin with but I am glad that Damien and Sunsella are willing to stand behind their products and do everything in their power to offer a proper resolution.

I have had one just like this in the past and loved it. Happy to get a new one that works just the same way. There is a little tool that comes with it but the purpose and use is not explained. I would love to know what that little tool is for!
