Good, but needs airing out!
Great item, looks clean with its simple design, and works great with an optical mouse. One problem though is that it smells like freshly laid asphalt or like burning rubber. The smell went away after 2 weeks, but it was quite acrid and it took me a while to realize there was not construction happening nearby, it was just the mouse pad off-gassing. Not ideal, but it was so cheap i can't complain. Good value overall. Update: I completely forgot that the pad was off-gassing because it did go away completely. :-) Great pad and months later, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Not much to look at, but it works great.
This is a nice mousepad for a laser mouse. I used my Bluetooth Dell mouse on my desktop for years and complained about how it periodically seemed to "disconnect." The symptom was that I'd be highlighting some text or dragging an icon when suddenly the cursor would jump and drop the icon in some unintended spot or drag the partially highlighted text to some random location. Then, I tried using an old free mousepad from some tradeshow I once attended. I noticed an improvement, but the irregular pattern on the surface (advertising) seemed to cause the same symptoms. I decided to try this 3M pad, which is inscribed with a regular pattern and a reflective surface. The improvement has been dramatic and now the annoyance is gone. The pad is cushioned, but is relatively thin. The surface cleans easily. The cushion does not slip, but it also does not adhere, so it can be repositioned as needed. Not much to look at, but it works great.

Nice
This mouse pad is very nice. The top side has a nice two tone silver and gray unique design. The mouse glides very easily across the surface. The surface is very lightly textured allowing the mouse to slide easily and at the same time it assures the mouse doesn't lose contact with the surface. The underside is a black textured rubber keeping it in place even on a glass surface. I recommend this mouse pad for those who do photo editing because if it's ability to let the mouse glide in a precise manner.

Super Smooth Movement
At first I was a little put off by the surface. This thing is much smoother than the old cloth and rubber mouse pads. There was about a three minute learning curve on muscle memory control of the mouse motions. Once I got a handle on that I decided that this was the best mouse pad I have ever owned. On top of that it will be much easier to clean due to the smooth surface. Since I just got this pad yesterday I can't verify or dispute the battery life claims, but as comfortable as it is to use, who cares? I use a Logitech M510 mouse that has outstanding battery life to start with. It will easily go a year or more on a set of AA batteries, and I never turn the mouse off. Even if the mouse pad does live up to the claimed increase, it's not something I'm cheap enough to keep track of over that length of time. Yes, I would buy it again, and yes, I will recommend this product to friends and family.

Using 8-9 hours/day - the best $5 I've ever spent.
My laser mouse had started having issues tracking on my desktop surface. I've cranked up the sensitivity as high as it'd go and the movement was jittery and I'd have to swipe and lift the mouse multiple times to get from one side of the screen to the other. I replaced the batteries, nothing. I found some relief by placing 6 post-it notes to the bottom of my mouse. That got rid of the jittery movement but it was still tracking very slowly even at the fastest setting. With this mouse pad, all my issues are resolved. I've removed the post-it notes and no jitters. I can move my pointer from one end of the screen to the other (3 wide screen monitors at max resolution) by moving my fingers now as opposed to having to move my entire arm. I don't need to replace my mouse anymore. This might be the best $5 I've ever spent!

Excellent, as always
I've been using 3M's textured mouse pads since they were introduced. They really do work better with optical mice, compared to monotone mouse pads. This isn't really an ergonomics product, though; it's a precision enhancer. If you want, you can use this as a top layer, over a thicker mouse pad that is a bit longer and wider than the thin 3M one; I used to that. In my current setup, I use it right on the desk, and use a wrist support in front of it. Regarding wear: I've used this heavily almost every day for months with no hint of wear-out, in an area or in spots. If you are having that problem, it likely means you either have a rough, crappy mouse that is abrading the pad, or you have a dirty mouse bottom. Mice pick up all kinds of gunk, and it sticks (a combination of skin oils, shed skin cells, dust, crumbs, etc., etc.) Clean your mouse at least once a week.

Works very well
I love this mouse pad. I don't know if it saves my battery life of my mouse or makes it more accurate but it works very well. One of my mice works poorly on most surfaces and mouse pads but it works perfectly on this pad. The pad is also very beautiful and thin making it easy to pack with you. It does have a very strong rubber smell that has yet to fade after 4 months; I have even left it out in the sun let it off gas and it has not helped.

Great mouse pad!
I bought this because my apple wireless mouse was barely working on any surface. I couldn't believe how my mouse worked perfectly after I started using it on this. Sadly that only lasted about a week and then I started having the same problem. If I cleaned this pad with rubbing alcohol I could get the mouse to work for a short period of time but then it wouldn't work again. STRANGE! Finally, I gave up and bought a used, wired apple mouse and now I am zipping right along with this pad and no more needing to wipe it down!! I think this is a great pad and it was just my temperamental wireless mouse!

Excellent mouse pad!
Wow, I almost forgot what a good mouse pad feels like! This one is great, it has a thin plastic top and ample rubber bottom. The version I got does not have a sticky bottom but a simple rubber one. Regardless it stays put on the desk and does not move at all. The top is very nice and creates nice gliding surface for mouse but not too slippery. If you ever got mouse pads from DELL which were really nice, this what the top of this mouse pad looks like. DELL mouse pads were shipped with their workstations and I really missed them when they broke. Now I found a replacement. The thickness of the pad is about 3-4 mm. I think DELL ones were thinner. The only two cons I can think of : 1) it kind of stinks of rubber very strongly but I think the smell will go away 2) you need to be careful not to bend the surface when cleaning it, probably best to use a cutting board and wash the mouse pad on the cutting board. DELL mouse pads used to crack if one is not careful and then the mouse would catch on the crack. Highly recommended.

Nice mousepad. I can compare the foam backed with the sticky backed. Read review.
Nice mousepads. I bought this because my mouse doesn't track well on my desk. I have both the foam backed and the sticky versions. Both pads track exceptionally well. I never had a problem with battery life, so I can't say if it's improved, as it lasts for months already. The foam version is my favorite. It is thinner than I expected, and measures just a sliver under 1/8" total. I thought the combination of the foam backing and the plastic might be uncomfortable due to the thickness, but it does not feel bad on my wrist when I'm using it, and is pretty unobtrusive. The sticky backed version is slightly smaller in dimensions, and is thinner than a credit card. When it's stuck to the desk, it's so close to the same level that it's about impossible to know it's there. The major difference is in the sound and feel of the two pads when moving the mouse. The sticky version is so much louder in every way than the foam backed one. When I lift and set the mouse to reposition, the sticky version allows the clunk to come through the desk as if there was no pad. When I am recording webinars, the knocking can get quite loud. The knocking effect was to be expected, as there is no cushion. What I didn't expect was how much quieter the foam backed version would be when I slide the mouse around... the texture of the two pads are the same... the sticky version sounds like it is always scraping across, and any grit or tiny particles are amplified, where they are unnoticeable on the foam pad. I thought I would like the thinner sticky pad, but I definitely like the smoother and quieter foam pad.
