Watch them little trichomes change.
A little hard to use at first but in time it's nice. Plenty of power to view trichomes.

Excellent Image Quality for a Portable Microscope
Over the last 55 years, I have used and owned Microscopes including research quality Leitz models so I am not new to magnification, and I am impressed with both the image quality and flatness of field which extends from border to border as well as the relative ease and preciseness of focus and magnification change. In addition, the built in light is amazingly useful and the fact that it uses a single AA battery is icing on the cake.

Stellar performance for a reasonable price
This is a review for the MicroBrite Plus 60x-120x (MM-300) from Carson Optical. The MicroBrite MM-300 is just the ticket for gardening and exploring. It's lightweight but substantial and has a nice, solid feel. Like all of the more powerful small scopes, you need to tinker with it a bit to get the best magnification, and at the highest magnification you will also benefit by being still. I've used more expensive scopes and several natural light scopes over the years, and this LED light scope puts them to shame. The results are excellent from full sunlight to dark. The grip is quite ergonomic for such a small device. You can use the focusing ring with the same hand you're holding it with, and you'll need to use your non-dominant hand to adjust the zooming dial when needed. The LED switch is perfectly located for a quick press of the thumb. This handheld is also perfect for those of us who choose to avoid button batteries. I wanted an AA battery device because our local stores are often out of the button battery I need. The battery compartment opens easily and the single battery can be accessed in a snap. (AA battery not included). There is an indent on the top to weave in a lanyard thread. It's portable but not really pocket-sized unless you stow it in a cargo-type pocket. It's about the size of a deck of cards and twice as thick. I keep it in my gardening apron pocket, in my birding vest pocket, or around my neck with a lanyard. When it's on the lanyard I use it more often just because it's there. It's useful and fun. Whether you're looking at a praying mantis casing, diagnosing spider mites, checking herb for readiness, or exploring the micro world with kids, this is an excellent portable microscope for the money. If this review was helpful to you in any way, I would appreciate it if you'd please check "yes" below. Thanks!

I bought it for the kids. I haven't let them use it yet.
Wow. We have an actual microscope we got 4 years ago. I've had this one for less that 3 hours and I've already used more. Great magnification. The built-in LED light makes everything visible. You can view flat or 3-dimensional (small) objects. My only regret is that I only bought one, but I can correct that mistake. Great for kids or kids-at-heart. It is super easy to use. I lined up my iPhone camera and took a few pictures. I'll include 2 so that you get a sense of the minimum magnification available. I would go into more detail but the product description is pretty accurate. Best $10 I've spent in a while.

Works like a champ!
With the low price on this scope, I did not expect much. I have been extremely surprised by how well this works. Prevented a premature harvest :D

STUNNING QUALITY FOR SUCH A SMALL PRICE
Here is a microscope at a lower price than most toy microscopes. And yet I don't consider it a toy. You see, I use this very same model nearly every day on the job in a professional setting. In fact, I enjoy using this model more than pro models of equivalent magnifying power previously provided to me and my technical staff. By the way, those other microscopes cost ridiculously more than the MM-300. I've been an Electronics Engineer for nearly 50 years and, after using this scope in both indoor and outdoor environments, I find the following to be true: (1) The optics are superbly sharp, (2) The field of view is very flat with negligible edge distortion, (3) The LED light source is nearly perfect in both its light output and placement, (4) The focus and zoom adjustments are silky smooth, (5) The transparent plastic shroud surrounding the objective (bottom) lens easily allows additional light to fall upon the subject, (6) The ON/OFF switch for the LED light is perfectly located for ease of use, and (7) The MM-300 costs so little as to be virtually unbelievable. Regardless of its low price, the MM-300 is NOT a toy. Using it, one can perform precise, professional-level, microscopic examinations. So far I've used the MM-300 to inspect mold for identification purposes, solder joint integrity, developing corrosion on metallic joints, fissures in military process materials, the quality of various protective and conformal coatings, heat damage to capacitors and resistors (etc.), the edges of cutting implements (knives, saw blades, etc.), fungus infiltration of outdoor electrical enclosures, and so much more. But I've also used it outside of work to examine leaves, shells, insects so small they were virtually invisible to the naked eye, etc., etc., etc. The MM-300 is simple enough for use by people of almost any age. I purchased an MM-300 for my 10-year-old grandson, who now uses it for school science reports and for his rock-collecting hobby, and my carpool partner purchased two of these for his young family after examining mine. Virtually everyone I have shown it to has ordered one or more for themselves or as gifts. Look at all the positive reviews this microscope has received. That speaks volumes to the quality of this amazing instrument. If someone had introduced me to the MM-300 and then told me it cost five times more than it does, I would have purchased an MM-300 in a heartbeat. In my professional opinion, the MM-300 is honestly that good.

Awesome little microscope, worth every penny
I used to work at a veterinary clinic where I would regularly run fecal tests that required me to search for parasites/eggs with a microscope. I have since left the clinic but really missed being able to look at things up close. I decided to get this and I love it so much that I keep it in my purse. I work on a mobile clinic now so we are not as well equipped (no microscope) but I can definitely see myself using this to check for ear mites. I think the magnification may even be strong enough to see roundworm eggs. I can hardly believe this thing was only $15, and I can take pictures through the lens with my phone! Seen in my photo is just some ink on paper. I'm so happy I got this.
