maybe it's overkill for what I was trying to do, but oh well, works great!! I wanted to have a lamp come on so that it didn't look as obvious that we weren't home. it was kinda tricky to program. i'm not the best at reading electrical directions. but I did it succesfully. my fiance would have been better, but he's lazy and he wasn't paranoid about burglars like me. I was pleased to find out that off of just one program, I was able to have it come on at my specified hours in the morning and again at nighttime, and from that it was also "random" so it didn't look like a programmed light (it would vary it by 30 minutes). it's perfect. wish it could do two devices but it's just 1.

This timer is a piece of cake to set. I had previously had an astronomic timer by Leviton, and it was like a relay race to get the data and programming into it before it went back into another mode. This one is much easier and has an internal battery that charges from the AC outlet into which it plugs.

Great heavy duty timer . I'm using it to work a small window a/c unit and it does that perfectly . I only programmed 2 different on/off events , one for Mon-Fri and the second for Sat-Sun . First time set up took about 5 minutes of reading instructions and trial and error to figure out . Set up actually works very similar to a digital wristwatch . The second one of these that I picked up took all of 1 minute to set up . Don't let the instructions intimidate you .

These are brilliant -- they turn on and off with the sunset and sunrise so I have just eliminated the need to have to continually move the pins on the old-style ones I had. These are worth the cost of not having to do that throughout the year and not having to reset the timer, either, during daylight saving time. These are quiet as well as I have one right next to the sofa where I watch TV and I never hear any whirring or clicking. I'm especially pleased with this purchase and glad that this product existed.

First, none of these digital timers ever has easy user interfaces. It would be very difficult to program this device without having the instructions in front of you. However I have about 6 others of these kinds of timers, and this one is just as easy as the others, maybe a little easier. The other brands often require you to get some information from the Internet to set sundown time. This one just gets you to set whether you're in the north central or South, and then to set your current sign-up time and sundown time, which you can easily get off your iPhone. After 2 minutes of setup, the thing worked amazingly. It has 2 outlets the are controlled, one on each side of the device. It also has a rechargeable battery backup, and when I received the device, the battery was still charge so I could set it up right away. All in all, this did everything it was supposed to do and more, and I couldn't be happier.

I am very happy with these timers. I have 4 of them, and I love the feature that tracks sunrise and sunset times to automate security lighting. They easily support 1500 watt loads like heaters and incandescent lights. Read the instructions for other types of loads. Programming is relatively straightforward and the design is pretty smart from what I can tell. If you want a weekend schedule that includes an OFF event after midnight on Monday morning, make sure you set a separate OFF event on Monday only, or the timer will stay on all night Sunday nights. Other than that very minor consideration, these seem to be excellent timers.

This is the best light timer I've ever used! At first, I was annoyed that the light only came on at sunset (when I really needed it on at least 30 minutes prior). But I read through the manual and was able to adjust the local sunset time to be 30 before it actually sets. Now my lamp comes on exactly when I want it to, even as the days get shorter.

After the first two days of frustration trying to get this unit programed to work I was ready to call the manufacturer's rep for help or return it. I decided to give it one more try and was elated when it automatically tuned on and off as programed the third day. I was probably not paying attention to details when programming at the onset. It feels great that I no longer have to keep manually resetting a timer as the sunset times change and units with light sensors didn't work well for me indoors.

This is a great timer for someone that just wants something simple!! I ordered a few other ones previously but they are SO complicated, I just don't really use them. this one is very easy, simple and works great. No complaints.

The great thing about this timer is that it adjusts to the seasons. So it will turn lights on (if you choose the on at dusk setting) at the right time nomatter if it is winter or summer. Therefore, you don't have to constantly adjust the setting as the seasons change. It was tedious to set up, but you can program it if you carefully read the instructions step by step. The first time I set it up, my wife complained that the lamp we were using it for was on when it should have been off, but I found that this was due to accidentally pressing the "Mode" button after applying the settings. Once this was corrected it worked well.
