Great Hardware AND Software
I'm using this to digitize my life -- tax returns since the 1980s, rental property info, financial records, etc.! It installed easily -- I'm using Windows 10 and I was operational within about an hour. I've done about 10,000 pages with very few problems -- staples, crumpled paper and the like -- all things I should have fixed before I did the scanning. The software is great -- I scan to PDF files stored on my desktop, then rename and migrate them to permanent storage -- I'm saving multiple copies -- online, cloud and USB drives! Already have more than 4 GB of data! While I'm scanning, I've found that the software presents it correctly but when opening the PDF files later using Adobe Acrobat, I sometimes have to rotate the view - no big deal. Another thing I like about the software is that it senses whether there's anything on the back of a page and scans/doesn't scan as appropriate -- GREAT! I like this so much, I'm thinking about buying another to keep in case this one ever breaks down! I know that there's a version that's Internet enabled, but I'm comfortable with the USB 2.0 connection. I thought that it might be a bit slow and that a USB 3.0 connection might be better, but it's very fast -- it's rated at 20 ppm, and it does that -- front and back simultaneously.

Very happy with this scanner - Way better than my MFP with auto feed.
Very happy with this scanner - Way better than my MFP with auto feed. Push the button and it scans both sides very quickly and puts it into the folder. The computer only has to be on, no manual clicks needed. Not for quality photos, but perfect for documents.

Scanning made easy
I read all the reviews for Mac compatible scanners and this was a top rated machine. It is a bit costly, however, you get what you pay for in this compact package. Whether it is text or pictures this thing gives a quality product time after time. It also scans multiple pages without missing a beat or one at a time allowing time to flip a page and add it to the document. Overall bery satisfied with this purchase.

Great scanner, worth the money!
I have used this for several weeks now and have scanned thousands of documents with it. Setup was fairly easy enough - it took me several tries, but I am not super tech-savvy. If you have the patience for the slightly longer processing time, the highest resolution looks pretty great. Very few issues with double-feeds, jams, etc. It does not "like" to do double-page scanning (i.e., receipt taped onto a full page) but with taping all edges of the receipt down, it will work most of the time. The size is perfect - as pictured, it fits right on top of my printer so doesn't take up any additional desk space.

Brilliant Scanner
I love everything about this scanner, I had used one previously and while it took me a while to commit to purchasing my own it was well worth purchasing. The only reservation I had was quite simply the price, but the amount of time it has saved me while scanning documents can be viewed as time equals money. I love the fact that I can scan driver's licenses, business cards, overlength forms and option between having them come out the bottom or loop back up. It's software is extremely easy to use, I would like it if the software gave me the option of being able to scan directly to the cloud, more specifically SharePoint but regardless, I still really really enjoy this scanner.

Fast copies with auto 2-sided feature
Fabulous speed - automatically copies both sides and handles papers of varying sizes. I haven't used features to convert pdf to text but seems interesting. Color copies are vivid and all (b&w, greyscale, color) seem to compress to rather small files. I'm pleased.

or smaller file sizes (there are like 5 settings)
It is fast, works well with both PC and Mac via USB. Put the papers in, press the button, and a few seconds later, up pops the preview window which allows you to do quick edits (like page rotation), and then save to PDF. You can choose the PDF quality for either very detailed scans, or smaller file sizes (there are like 5 settings). The software does a guess as to whether or not it is single or double sided - easy to delete pages if it guessed wrong (which it rarely does). Works equally well for PC and Mac (I bought two for our set up). Haven't had a paper jam yet either. Auto turns off for inactivity, but it turns on quickly and then immediately works with the computer.

Best online buy I've made
This is simply the best purchase I have made online as far back as I can recall. It does exactly what the manufacturer says it will do and has surprised me a couple of times when I've pushed it beyond what was promised. Installation was a breeze -- but be certain to follow the instructions, especially the order of the steps. The interface with OS X has worked flawlessly. The scanner enabled me to eliminate decades worth of paper files in less than a week, working a couple of hours a day. The only paper I keep is charitable-giving originals the tax accountant needs to see. Incoming paper gets scanned and filed on the hard drive in a few seconds. Definitely a 5-star product for my purposes.

Works like a charm, you'll be happy with it
Had this a couple of weeks now. It does everything I expected and hoped for. I've used it for typed documents, 3x5 and 4x6 cards, and 2.5x6 inch photos. They all pass through with few problems. With the cards, sometimes it couldn't grab the top card and paused, but you just take out the cards, maybe add a few more at the back of the stack, and replace, and it gets going again (two screen clicks are necessary to do this, however--it ought to restart immediately when another stack is inserted in the intake). The software, CaptureOnTouch, is not intuitive for anything but routine letter paper-sized documents, and the help file and manual are pathetic. There are a lot of sub-menus, one set for managing the input and another for the output. There are no step by step job-oriented instructions: for example, "How do I scan a box of 3x5 cards as individual jpg images in a specific folder?" Instead, it describes each menu, sub-menu, and menu item in a few words, often with a verbal wave of the hand, not always explaining what function the adjustment serves. You have to read carefully through all the options and try different combinations. The labels on the menu items often don't give a clue as to what the function does. And, the English is not good. But, you can save each input setup and each output setup, so that when you do the same job again you can just click on two squares and then the scan button. If the machine jams, which is quite rare, you can easily open it, replace the input documents and click to resume scanning. It needs to be opened and cleaned after a thousand pages or so, with compressed air to blow the paper dust away; otherwise it becomes increasingly hard for it to grab the next page to scan. I wish there was a special forum just for this scanner where users could share their experiences. But, one can't have it all.

Great scanner
Great hardware. I have scanned folded and crumpled letter and legal size documents, as well as various sizes of paper and cards like driver license and business cards. All scanned well and quickly with few jams. Software is good. I already had Paperport 14, so I skipped that. Canon's Capture on Touch is pretty good, once you figure it out and set up the profiles you want. You can set it up to create a separate pdf for each page or all pages into one pdf file, color, B&W, greyscale or automatic. I found that using B&W on a crumpled carbon copy on pink paper removed the color and the wrinkles. Very pleased with the scanner and software. Drivers are an issue. I installed it on Windows 7. When I upgraded to Windows 10 the computer could not find the scanner. I emailed customer support and got a reply in a couple of hours (on a Sunday!) that there was no Win10 driver yet; as a current product it would probably get one, but no ETA available. So kudos for a prompt response, a Bronx cheer for its content. I resolved my driver issue by using a NextBook that is running Windows 8.1. Driver and Capture on Touch work fine, and I set up the profiles to save to a folder on OneDrive. Then I go to the Win10 computer and move the file to other folders on that computer. It works, but I am looking forward to the Win10 driver. Another reviewer indicates that Canon expects to release the driver in 2 - 3 weeks. When the Win10 driver is released, and I determine that it works property, I think I will increase my rating to 5 stars. I am debating whether or not to knock off a star for what appears to be an habitual delay in developing drivers for new operating systems that other manufacturers do not seem to encounter. Googling revealed a similar delay in delivering drivers when Windows 8 came out. UPDATE 8/29/15: Windows 10 driver and software are out. I haven't tried them because I dropped back to Windows 7. There were just too many articles about Windows 10 phoning home with all kinds of information for me to feel comfortable. So I have given it 5 stars because it is a great scanner.
