This is light weight and the first thing I did was attack a huge jasmine vine that covers the overhead trellis on our patio and drips down. It was almost a pleasure to use this - no problem holding it over head and is was maneuverable enough that I was able to get a really natural looking result and now we can walk on our patio without ducking. It was a little awkward at first because I wrongly tried to hold both buttons down - one button just needs to be held down while you start pressing the trigger - it is a safety function. You have to press the trigger continuously - the instant you let up on the trigger button, the motor stops. It feels very safe. Next I tried it on several overgrown salvia. I was able to 'lift' the plants by undercutting - you can change the angle of the blade which was very helpful. In less than 30 minutes I was able to trim my whole (small) garden which normally would have taken me hours of hot sweaty work. I love it! And it is not loud or whiny - it makes a low pitched sound that is fine. Even my touchy dog did not object to the noise.

I buzzed through two large and unruly Nandinas in a matter of minutes using the shrub trimmer. I trimmed away 4 or 5 inches of new growth. Obviously this set isn't meant to cut through thick woody branches, but for light maintenance work for shrubs, it is excellent. I don't really need to use the grass trimmer, but decided to see how they work, so I used the trimmer around the edges of my trees where they are mulched and took down a few weeds growing under the steps to my shed. They worked well. Overall, this is a good, lightweight and efficient tool to have to help with maintaining the shrubs in your yard.

If you don't try and tackle too large of a job for this little trimmer, then you'll probably be very pleased with how well it little tool works. This isn't like the larger trimmers that have blades as long as your arm. This one is small, hand size. It's been working perfectly for just trimming up and shaping the bushes around my house. It does cut through small twig size branches, and goes through leaves and such easily. Because of the size, it's not the one you want to reach for if you're trying to shape something into a perfect circle or such. But it trims off the excess areas very well, giving bushes a cleaner more manicured look. I like it and have trimmed up a lot more with it than I ever expected it would go through.

This is a review for Scotts Outdoor Power Tools LSS101725 7.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Grass Shear/Shrub Trimmer Combo, Green. We are big fans of Scotts gardening tools and this is no exception. First of all, there is a simple easy-to-follow instruction pamphlet but it’s so intuitive and easy, you won’t even need it. The cord to charge the battery fits in right in the top of the handle. It charges really quickly too. This is very lightweight which is really nice for a tool like this. At the same time, do know that this isn’t meant for any heavy-duty trimming but it doesn’t advertise for that. It does an excellent job at light touch-ups for your hedges. One of the tools is meant specifically for edging. So this is great - you have a handy all-in-one tool that is lightweight and you don’t need any cords or gas. This makes it so convenient. Highly recommended. Beware! We didn’t know this came with a slight charge already and when my husband was putting it together he started it without knowing. That’ll get your attention!

My husband laughed when my trimmer arrived. He thought the cut was too small and wouldn't work at all.... but guess who has been using it more than the big trimmer? My husband!! If you have a large area in circumference, you might want a bigger trimmer, but to go along the sidewalks and anywhere you need a narrow trim, this is perfect. The battery lasted about an hour, which, I think is pretty good!!! The other plus is, when you are done, you don't have grass thrown all over you!

Very lightweight and easy-to-use unit. Charging port is in the end of the handle, and the unit charges up pretty quick. The shrub trimmer and grass trimmer attachments go on and come off very easily and intuitively, and when they're on, they are on securely. Note that this is *light duty* trimmer. The shrub shear works beautifully on the half-dozen spirea shrubs I have on my property -- it's phenomenally easy to maneuver and shape them just right. The grass shear surprised me, working much better than I expected. I have several berms that use 8"-12" river rock as borders, and the grass can get stubborn in between those. My weed eater fights the rocks en route to the grass, so I used the grass shear attachment in those areas, and wow --- I could crop it tight and get all of it, too. It really looks sharp. You should know that neither the grass nor the shrub shear work well on woodier shrubs. In fact, if you try to cut anything approaching 1/4" thick, it's likely that the unit will jam and stop operating -- there's just not enough juice to slice something that thick. So, for heavier brush, you'll want a beefier machine. But for light duty work, I'm tickled that this unit is lightweight and maneuverable. Definitely recommended for the detail work!! One final note: This is a 7.2V lithium ion battery. Such batteries are rated to handle only so many recharges (It will handle HUNDREDS, but still ....). This unit does NOT come with any instructions, so to maximize the life of your battery, don't leave this unit charging once it's fully charged. Unplug it from the charger. ALSO -- you can even extend the life of the battery by discharging it just a little bit after it's fully charged, then storing it without the cord attached. In other words, once it's fully charged, just run the shears for a minute or so. Storing it at a 90 - 95% charge will actually minimize the build up of "plating" on the anode side of the battery - thus extending the battery's life.

I absolutely love these grass clippers. They are very sharp and the battery lasts a very long time. The extension handle really helps my back. The first set I got, Amazon customer service was a great help. They refunded the order and I ordered the second time and received the handle. I am super pleased!!!!!

I love this trimmer and can't believe I didn't already own one. Easy to use. Plugs in to charge and the battery life last a long time. Two heads that are easy to take off and put on. I even used it in some places near the ground where I would have normally used a weed eater. They work great. The shrub trimmer made quick work of my hedges. One of the best gardening tools I now own.
